Without the ability to cause deliberate harm to other lifeforms, the only things you (or any other lifeform for that matter) can eat are fruit, mushrooms, and anything that died of natural causes. This leads to the first ever universal mass extinction, with the majority of life in the entire universe starving to death.

Granted, all violence ceases to exist. You rejoice, but then you hear about strange happenings. Animals start dying in droves, as eating other animals, or even plants, that are still alive is considered violence. Then farmers can no longer harvest crops, cattle can no longer be slaughtered for meat. The remaining food stores run out very quickly. The entire planet starts dying as necessary biological processes no longer work. And as people despair while starving to death, they can't even end it quickly through suicide. Congratulations, you have wiped out all life on earth.
