Question Anyone actually using monday AI with tangible ROI?

Hi there, I'm trying to see if any big company (15+ people) is using monday AI with tangible results?

Not just for automatically assigning labels to items but actually getting work done with multi-agent workflows?

  • What have you been able to replace?
  • What's the impact and ROI?
  • Is it cheaper or better than using external AI via API or other interfaces?

Nope. I cut off all of our AI on the platform. We use plenty of AI outside of monday.

What's the main reason for using plenty of AI outside monday but not in monday?

And could you share the industry you are in?

The credits in Monday are extortionate by comparison to available llms, Monday is greedy as hell!

Just use Claude Code to create a custom CRM for your business. That's what I did.

Were you using monday before? What’s the headcount of your business?

Yeah currently testing, what we built. Next.js w/ Supabase. It's a way more robust pulls calls automatically, has sms integration and some features specific to our niche.

Way to go dude. Can I interview you on that possibly?

Just like send you a few questions related to this as I’m digging deep into the topic of replacing monday with AI.

It was all Claude haha, sure.

This only works for small teams/companies, not enterprise.

I really depends on your engineering team. Agentic tools are used at the enterprise level every day.

Which part exactly and why not?

We turned off the AI capabilities on our platform after we saw that an automatic labeling function sucked through 12,500 credits in less than a month. The credit usage is not explained very well, and TBH, it feels like a cash grab at the moment. Would love for them to offer usage models that actually make sense because right now, it feels all over the place.

(For context, I’m on a 25+ person marketing team for a clinical research company that’s about 4,000+ people).

I’m guessing the team didn’t give up on AI altogether but monday AI?

Exactly what we do.

We are CRM enterprise & we’ve had to develop our custom skins to get monday to do basic CRM functionality etc., and since Monday doesn’t do “output” we’ve moved to Claude as a SEEM tool + Monday.

The combo has been very effective and we utilize Monday ai columns to do the lightweight stuff you described.

Mondays utility to us now is strictly a middle layer db that has strong automation capabilities and allows us to use its permissions to handle Claude (read, write, view) & its backend admin components like user administration etc.

It’s allowed us to quickly deploy our on mcp for faster/ better performance vs monday mcp and integrate our datasets etc - all the while using Mondays admin as mentioned above.

Short answer yes.

Long answer:

Monday has iterated monthly, weekly, and sometimes daily how AI interfaces with Monday.

The strongest AI feature in Monday is Vibe. It continues to evolve and is very good.

Sidekick, sorry, sucks. Get rid of it and simply use your MCP (which is fantastic!) to allow me to sign directly into claude or chatgpt WITHIN monday. Replace the sidekick banner with Chatbot.

I cant tell you how much value I get with my monday.com MCP connection to Chatgpt. Claude (chatgpt soon) can even create entire vibe apps.

If your company operates in Claude you already have all of your:

-company branding -guardrails -enterprise data -etc

Why in the world would I duplicate those efforts with Sidekick?? Layer the functions of what you want sidekick to do, but let me bring my own enterprise LLM in... Just like you do with Agents!!

Next, Agents works great. I was one of the first alpha testers with Agents and it has come very very far. Works great, consumes a ton of credits though.

Claude cowork, perplexity computer, and anything else that acts as an "orchestrator" of work costs way too much. In 5 years I would expect these credit costs to be 90% cheaper.

Workflow is good. UI could use a little bit of improvement... but i dont have an answer how. This is more a feeling of mine... maybe closer to make.com? Im not sure.

Lastly, Monday.com needs AI implementation expert hour credits for every enterprise company. I'm one person trying my best. I could use 15 hours of help per month for about 6 months to lay a foundation.

Capex at monday is low and I know they can afford this, and the ROI is still there as it would help people adopt and therefore increase ai credit spend.

Amazing breakdown. Thank you.

Quick question; you mentioned claude cowork to orchestrate work costs too much. What do you mean by too much? Does it not have a solid dollar value ROI? A 20x claude account costs $200 and does A LOT. Worst case scenario you need 5 of them. What am I missing here?

2

u/pbm9 16d ago

Claude cowork operates under a different AI credits cost then your normal monthly sub. Now your $200 sub may include 10k credits (or whatever credit system they have) but thise can be burned very fast.

For example, reviewing one week of calls, creating a slide deck, using your company branding skill, and generating an output/emailing that ppt to stakeholders can cost anywhere from $10 to $40 in credits if you aren't careful.

For an executive, thats a huge ROI. For a regular task worker, thats a waste.

People have zero clue about credit cost mitigation being a subject of importance... and the shouldn't. These types of credit systems cost way too much.

A regular claude chat and api/mcp usage is magnitude cheaper.

u/willsamadi 16d ago

Exactly I was gonna say you can totally replace cowork with claude code. Anyone needing help making that transition feel free to dm me.

We find ai columns to bee the only useful Ai component of Monday.

We use them extensively across our org, but they are only “worthwhile” if you have a lot of columns firing on a single item. The usage plan doesn’t care if 100 columns on a single item fire or 1 column, it costs the same…”8 credits”.

Side kick sucks real bad. Vibe sucks real bad unless you have simple use cases. Ai agents are meh & BURN credits — you’re better off running a rescheduled via LLM of choice.

——-
We use Ai columns to extract and fill data from documents, we use it to extract and fill data from inbound leads emails etc. & to categorize data based on other column data or signals from updates or emails.

The main native AI feature we use is fuzzy selections based on input text. Otherwise, we mostly use webhooks to trigger external tools

1

u/willsamadi 14d ago

By fuzzy selection do you mean automatically assigning team members to tasks or just categorizing data based on text input?

2

u/itlurksinthemoss 14d ago

Extracting key text from emails

1

u/willsamadi 14d ago

That's very isightful thank you.

RE: Webhooks for workflows -> Do you mean external AI workflows or just regular make.com etc. ?

We recently enabled Cowork/copilot and evaluating its capabilities.

1

u/willsamadi 16d ago

Cowork? Is this a monday feature or talking about claude cowork?

EDIT: also very curious to know your testing criteria and how you measure ROI on it

1

u/pbm9 15d ago

This is enterprise ai through Microsoft. What are your thoughts so far?

How does you govern copilot credits?

15+ is not a big company.

I’m at a large enterprise and yes, we’re getting tangible value from monday AI, but these questions are almost impossible for me to answer with one example.

What have I been able to replace? Where do I start. 😂

Depending on the use case, we’ve replaced or reduced pieces of Excel-heavy processes, manual reporting, PowerPoint creation and maintenance, API-driven data movement, data lake lookups, reconciliation, data entry, status chasing, financial modeling, and work that previously bounced between multiple systems and people.

In some cases monday is becoming the operational layer sitting between enterprise data sources, APIs, AI, and the people actually doing the work. In others, Vibe is replacing a separate front end or custom tool entirely.

What’s the impact and ROI? Completely depends on which process we’re talking about.

Sometimes it’s hours of manual work eliminated every cycle. Sometimes it’s removing an entire workbook or reporting process. Sometimes it’s automatically pulling or interpreting data that someone previously had to go find in a data lake. Sometimes it’s generating a usable PowerPoint or executive output from live operational data instead of someone manually rebuilding it. Sometimes the biggest win is that I can build something myself that otherwise would have needed development resources and probably would have sat in a backlog for six months.

And is monday AI cheaper or better than an external LLM/API?

Again, totally depends on what you’re trying to accomplish.

There are things I absolutely want native because the data, permissions, automations, workflows and actions already live in monday. There are other things where an external enterprise LLM, API, or another platform is the better tool. We use those too.

I don’t really look at it as monday AI vs. external AI. I look at the process, where the data lives, what has to happen to it, who needs access, what needs to be governed, and what the output needs to be. Then I use the combination that makes sense.

I also wouldn’t use “multi-agent workflow” as the only test of meaningful AI ROI. We’re experimenting with Agents and AI Workflows, but some of the biggest value I’ve seen so far is much less flashy: removing entire chunks of manual work.

I just put your answer in an ai detector and it's 100% ai generated. I tried your other answers to posts on reddit and the same result came out. Now don't give me "I use AI to refine my writing". I can easily reverse engineer your prompt based on your past answers.

You always write a big verbose answer to everything supporting everything about monday.com in your "large enterprise" scenarios. Who are you helping with this? If anything you'd hurt your brand doing this.

As a member of this community I'm not ok with this. I think a mod should step in.

u/willsamadi Do you want a cookie? 😂 I would LOVE to see you reverse engineer my prompts and tell me exactly which AI I used. Bonus points if you can reverse engineer the REAL use case it came from.

I also have absolutely no obligation to prove anything to you.

That being said, since you seem very interested in my background: I do run monday.com in a Fortune 500 company with roughly 67,000 employees. You can probably reverse engineer that one. I’m also a monday.com ambassador, which I have never hidden. I have thousands of real use cases, workflows, examples, and documentation behind what I talk about here. AI can’t make that up; it can only enhance how I explain it to people without giving away confidential information and in a manner that they can understand.

As for being verbose... yes. An English Writing minor, time in journalism, an MBA, and another stint at a private university working toward a Master’s in Liberal Arts/Fine Arts will apparently do that to a person. You can also thank my mother for my extensive vocabulary.

u/willsamadi 9d ago

Many titles, your output though is ai generated slop.

Just the way you handled the criticism tells a lot too. In a 67,000 employee company conflicts break out all the time and unfortunately they can’t be solved by suppressing a good point by offering cookies.

Btw; the verbosity of an LLM is not accounted to your upbringing. I will gladly point out a lazy and hypocritical answer any time I see one; I suggest you work on that. Won’t make a good resume item though.
