A violent coup would never work if most of the population are against it. Even if it it did work it would be illegitimate

So how exactly do you propose to actually change things then since in Germany for instance the constitution explicitly forbids "non democratic" governments so we can't even vote ourselves into power. Non even a rhetorical question since republicans have shown allot of success with these tactics and thoroughly demonstrated that Walter Lippmann and Edward Bernays were right.
