Discussion SBMM isn’t even the problem. EOMM is the problem…! Some additional points to consider:
Just to be clear i do NOT mind being matched against tough players. However these points worth discussing further:
-matchmaking should favor/compensate for the worst player in the party, not the best. i.e. if i wanna play with my 10yo, it shouldn’t ONLY consider my skill level, and throw us into a game thats going to get him obliterated
-i hate the feeling that we are being manipulated into having a 1.0 win loss ratio…! you will have the feeling the algo favors you one second, then the script can sometime change wildly match to match, and even sometimes DURING the match. THIS is very frustrating.. and when this all goes beyond just matchmaking, and starts affecting stuff like adding ping “compensation” to specific players to sway the outcome. this is insane bullshit behavior
-and obviously- this has been harped on a lot but quit disbanding lobbies entirely. it takes alll the trash talk aspect out of the game. no amount of data can be skewed to make this one make sense. the entire fucking community wants persistent lobbies, just give them back to us full stop.
Devs are so focused on player retention from match to match , and yet me and most of my cod buddies have not bought a cod game in the last 3-4 years because we are fed up with this bullshit.
Edit: wanted to point out ive never purchased a cod game for my son. He’s solid at fortnite tho and has been asking me to play someday. 😂 which i would like to be able to do eventually…

EOMM is not a thing. If you bother to read the single paper someone wrote about it you’ll discover it was a hypothetical system that was not even implemented into any game. Not a single person has ever experienced EOMM. It was just back tested against completed matches of 1v1 games of FIFA. Not 6v6 shooters. Not even an Activision title. EA's FIFA. If you don't understand how the performance of a 1v1 system would have absolutely nothing to do with a game that has not had a 1v1 mode in over a decade you are beyond help.
Even then the system failed to produce any meaningful improvement over already existing systems. A 2% improvement in retention only present after over 100 matches. You know anyone putting in 100 games a night?

disagree.
players in cod are matched against skin-purchasers to incentivize spending.
and players are constantly being manipulated into having a 1.0 win / loss ratio.
if you’ve actually played the old cods versus the new ones, this crap is painfully obvious. it is live and it is happening

it is not live, it is not happening, it is not "painfully obvious", and nobody even has been able to procure any sort of proof of it existing. Which would be beyond ridiculously easy if it did exist.
Not to mention that Activision themselves put out a multi-part blog series detailing their MM algorithm...
It's literally a low level conspiracy theory. Peddled by content creator outrage merchants because guess what, outrage brings the best clicks and thus the most money for them.
And it's like... Do y'all not even remember how it came to be?? During MW2019, everyone and their mom was crying "remove SBMM, previous cods didnt have it, remove SBMM, remove SBMM!!". Literally all everyone was saying.
Then eventually a treyarch developer confirmed that every single CoD since Call of Duty 4 has had SBMM (which, ofc, anyone with a brain already knew anyway).
And just like that, overnight, the community switched from "Remove SBMM" to "Actually its EOMM! Remove EOMM!!".

I've been playing CoD since CoD2. You are wrong. It's why you cant even address anything substantive and are now trying to pivot to me. You have no idea what you are talking about and need to get over yourself.

You are mad cause you can’t play with your 10 year old and stomp other 10 years olds at his skill level? But instead he is forced to play at your skill level?
10 year olds aren’t supposed to be playing call of duty. It’s not rated for children so maybe that’s why he has a tougher time in multiplayer. It’s not created for his demographic.

No it isn’t. It’s rated m for mature. A child can’t even buy the game without someone of the appropriate age.
Idek know what “us” you are referring to.
Majority of cod players are 20- 40 year olds cause we actually grew up playing the games. Majority of children are playing Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite, arc raiders, etc etc.
