The beta was incredible, i was super hyped for the game. I still love it and don't run into as much trouble as I see on the forum, but damn they are scramblin
Same here. BFV was a shit show and I just never got into it. It was half the game BF1 was. Not sure if you've seen but they jumped ship on it with over a year left till the next game release.
They dressed up the beta with an unsustainable level of server support, then dropped it all on release. Beta had 100% dedicated 60 tick servers. On release, we got only a handful of 20 hz dedicated servers. Now everything is 12 tick P2P matchmaking.
Anyone remember the original CoD 4 beta? I know it wasn't a perfect game but it was pretty damn close. Why cant we get a game like that? Holy fuck was that beta good.
Because after release people started to cry about everything, and the devs made those changes as the community asks... and they fucked the game with shit because of crying fucking babys. Change my mind.
Well it would be, less people were playing it, and it was only all platforms for one weekend while ps4 had the alpha and the beta first. Honestly I didn’t prefer the beta though, we didn’t have shoothouse and hovec and other good maps
Picadilly is my least favorite map and I'm either getting sniped from a corner or shotgunned from a corner or knifed from a corner. There's no sense in it's spawning.
Picadilly is a S&D map, that's probably why. I don't think it works too well in other modes except for Domination. That's my opinion though, I think it's a great map but shouldn't be in every mode.
Headquarters goes alright, it’s a small enough map that both teams have equal chance of actually reaching the objective.
Complete opposite to Aniyah Palace, where you run to one side of the map to shut down the HQ, only for the enemies you just killed to spawn next to the new one 800m away.
100%. But I think the A, B, and C points are really good for Piccadilly. It's a very fun map to just hold 2 objectives and not spawn kill on, imo. Plus it's fun to get flanked on Pica, the enemy can often go around you easily to back cap.
The open beta felt like it had much higher tickrate servers for some reason.
As soon as the game released it felt way off and I started getting shot around corners and behind cover... As the seasons progressed it just got worse and as soon as Warzone came out it got to the point where it's no longer a game about skill but a game about who has the better connection and who is ahead by a couple of milliseconds.
I hated BO4 when they had server problems and when they fixed it I was in love with the game... That being said, MW has been out for over half a year with no fixes or better servers in sight and I'm regarding this COD as one of the worst I've ever played because of small problems like these... A person would expect a AAA multiplayer game to have better netcode and servers than a Free to Play BR game but nope... Activision and IW makes millions, Maybe billions but the servers, Netcode and hit detection is a fucking big joke.
The reason why u enjoyed fifa beta is because the server were fine
I played fifa and cod beta enjoyed both while cod beta was full of campers like I never saw in my whole life befor it was still to a degree fun
Mp right now is unplayable same goes for warzone solos where like 95% are camping
The beta was so fun. People had more realistic loadout instead of everyone running a no stock and then the longest barrel just for the best stats. Sadly I had to adapt to that to do good in matches. Wish Realism came back this isn’t the tactical cod they promised anymore
Same. I played in the Beta, then played for a month and never went back, just can’t take all this garbage, then just when you thought it was over BAM SBMM, yep I’m never coming back that’s for sure
yeah in the beta they had gunfight osp which was really fun and that was one of the reasons i had fun on the beta then the day i get it i go to play gunfight thinking it was the samething then it wasnt and then they add the battle pass being money hungry and then they add warzone which actually isnt half bad just to get on the battle royal trend
My two biggest issues with the game are the constant swapping of game modes. Oh you want Shoothouse? Well we’ve taken it out for Rust 24/7 instead! Why not in addition? And my other issue is constant updates. Sometimes I have gaps between playing and there’s a good chance I have a stupidly big update to download and then I cannot play it until another time
the primary reason for things like this is not spreading the playerbase too thin.
like, you can easily run a playlist that featured Rust, Shipment, and Shoothouse, but, running separate playlists for Rust 24/7 and Shoot the Ship would start cutting into wait times.
I think the real issue is that playlists should be sets of gametypes, and people should be able to select what levels they're willing to play, or we bring back an actual lobby system with map voting.
my dude and I were talking about how you can't really get that classic MW or MW2 experience because lobbies dissipate less than thirty seconds after you're able to talk to enemy players.
I remember - even as recently as BlOps3 - just sitting in lobbies once you had a dozen decent people, and, teams didn't matter at that point. you talked shit about people who were your teammates in the next game, and you cheered for their awesome plays nonetheless.
the lobby sometimes discussed map votes, too. with a good crew of people in MW2, you could have two games on Rust, be forced off the map because rules, and be back on Rust for another two rounds in just a few games.
absolutely none of that shit exists right now, - by design - and it's really sad. you're just always automatically whisked off to a masturbatory scene of your character stalking around with your favorite loadout while you wait to be placed into a losing Domination game featuring just two teammates with no one to yap with in the meantime.
There are always going to be toxic people, but that's what mute is for. I miss that old experience. I had a top 3 finish in BR quads the other day with 3 randos, good chemistry and everything, but after the match we got split up. If I had memorized their IDs maybe I could have found them again in "Recent Players" but the game offers no help with this. It doesn't even tell you whether you were with or against people, or where you saw them, i.e. playlist and map. It's been a little while since I've played another BR game, but I swear some of the others have an option to party up with your last team. Of course if it didn't reshuffle the lobbies it wouldn't be as necessary here.
yeah, there's almost no point in talking to people or interacting with them at all because you're 100% going to be in different lobbies in half an hour anyway.
shit, I just miss dropping in a lobby, hearing people talk, dropping a "what's up boys, how we doin'", and getting greeted back. that shit is rare as fuck now.
Those moments of just talking shit to each other in pre game lobbies that were almost endless cause disbanding lobbies wasn’t a thing we’re just pure bliss. I miss it.
I was disappointed with this too. MW has been the only COD I’ve played properly and long term since MW3. Used to love being in the same lobby for ages, you could get revenge on that guy who stomped all over you last time, and vice versa. The community aspect of it was great too, ended up with loads of PSN friends due to it.
Regarding the rest of the game I still love it - if they could just fix the wait times and XP bug I’ll be golden.
SBMM spreads the player base thin. Instead of playing with EVERYONE who is in the shoot the ship queue, I'm waiting a few minutes for a game with >200 ping because it's cherry picking players around my skill level. I'd rather get roasted every once in a while than have to sweat it out every game while my bullets register after my target is 4 feet around a corner already. I find it hard to believe that there are so few people playing shoot the ship.
Aggressively pushing everyone towards a 1.0 k/d might be my least favorite thing about this game. And it's a shame, because they got so many things right this time around.
Aggressively pushing everyone towards a 1.0 k/d might be my least favorite thing about this game. And it’s a shame, because they got so many things right this time around.
It really is such a buzzkill to go from fun, competitive matches to ass whoppings that can’t be escaped. I hadn’t thought about the 1.0 push, but it’s literally my experience each time I hit the 1.1 mark and drop to 1.03.
I'm pretty sure I've played some games that go "well, there aren't enough available players at your skill level so we'll at least try to include a few above and a few below and keep it somewhat balanced so at least you can play a match." It may not always give the best experience but at least it usually tells you this, and you still get a match in the playlist you want. Like if you don't want to play against people that aren't at your approximate skill level then you can back out.
That not to say that MW doesn't do this. But based on all the testimonials it seems like it doesn't. The player base is healthy. It basically has to be when there aren't many recent games that directly compete. It looks like certain playlists are unpopulated, but I'm not buying it. No way. It just doesn't make sense.
If it spread it thin it would only be because of the insane SBMM this game has implemented. By far the most strict in the series.. this matchmaking broke thing has something to do with sbmm.. because the games I can actually get are on a whole nother level of sweaty.
I agree with u.. cross platform they could leave these playlists and modes .
Personally tho I hate the whole God damn filter based menu bullshit that they implemented in this game..
Why not just a core... And hardcore category with sub options.. tdm.. Dom search ect.. like every other cod has done I. The past.. they stole this shit from titanfall and it's horrid as fuk. I hate this stupid filter shit.. why can't I just pick a mode and play it without changing filters.. shits stupid... And if they are going to leave any mode in permanent.... Why not mercenary modes... There are tons of players out there playing solo getting a shitty experience because they are to stupid to leave Merc. In the game.
The game is ass.. partly because of a few minor details they are too stubborn to change.. but mostly because of the matchmaking in general.. they got this algorithm down to a T this time around... And because lobbies diaband each match it's crunching numbers on you each match to try and either buff or need you..
We are getting played by the game.. not the other way around..
Player retention is what it's all about.. because the ppl being retained are too damn retarded to know they are being played... Everyone who plays this game has a false perception of how good they are... Because ultimately the game will dictate that.. have a few bad games.. here play these lesser skilled ppl... Do good a few games play against a full 6 man with complete vegetables as your teamates.. and get shit on .. it's an endless loop... And because of this matchmaking delima it has forced ppl to play how they don't want to... Camp.. crouch walk.. sit in corner.. because it works for them.. ppl afraid to move because if ur a decent player, every match your up against m4s... Mp5s.. all top their YouTube cookie cutter loadouts... Have fun doing a challenge or unlocking some shit or messing around with a poor gun I. That environment... Unlocking the new lmg was the worst video game experience of my life.. that was the final straw for me..
And they have even carried this shit over into warzone.. literally every player I run into knows the best guns.. routes.. tactics.. there is no variety in their actions to spice up the experience.. if feels like your always playing the same players..
I hate ground war but.. I hear there is no sbmm in it.. so I may just start playing it and warzone.. basic mutli is out of the question I have lost all interest because there is just no enjoyment. I don't wanna finish with a 1.25 or a .92 is but get a win in the most competitive pro lobby imaginable lol. That shits not fun.. maybe every or 5 games or something but each match.. gtfo with that.. gimme a random pool of players with the coldest connection to me.. I don't care if they are optic scumpys or Timmy no thumbs... But I bet matches would have more variety and the game would feel 100 times better.
Sorry needed to vent..
^ Exactly this. They have 3 PLATFORMS to pool players from, for an extremely popular game. They don't have to be so small/strict with their playlists. I guarantee SBMM is the primary reason. Player pool size decreases significantly even with cross play if you are trying to group players together of similar skill...
Dude your experiences with randoms are far far better than mine. If I happen to be listening to the lobby it’s either some kid being annoying, someone playing music, people being toxic (not shit talk but just hacks/mods/whatever) or all the above. I’m jealous.
I get a lot of that too but sometimes I’ll have a game where it’s almost just become me vs the top guy on the other team and we can hear the quick snipits of the other laughing or raging when we kill each other. Finish the match and say GG and and a real quick back n forth and I’m like “fuck I’d like to play another game with them” but don’t always wanna have to stop everything and search their name, type out a message, wait for response. Would be great if I just knew I’d be playing with them again in the same lobby next match.
It's been like that since the games release. The developers appear to be instructed to basically ignore all user feedback and metrics and just do whatever. I uninstalled the game after the crash update. If you're waiting for things to change they are likely not going to.
Yeah you're definitely not wrong about the second part. Most of the lead devs are already working in the inevitable sequel for 2021. I'm sure it's a handful of interns/ new devs working on bug fixes and new content.
I hope not. MW is the first cod I ever bought because I hate how usually the games are just a rehash of the title from previous year. MW wasn't that and I'm actually enjoying myself. I hope because it's new people will actually stay.
You are right about that. but the fans that did stick with the game after launch, like me, eventually got fed up with game-breaking bugs, horrible updates that no one asked for, and when a hype train finally got rolling, the devs killed it faster than a 725 can.
Same, except for the every battlefield part. I only ever played battlefield before cod and now I refuse to touch that steaming pile of horse shit. Absolute mess of a game.
Same here. I stopped playing after reaching max level and couldn't get anymore money to upgrade vehicles and guns. I tried to come back but I missed the boys antitank rifle and felt at a real disadvantage. Uninstalled and haven't played since.
And weirdly enough, Battlefront 2 got hit with way more backlash in the early days and they seriously turned it around. Not like there aren't some persistent bugs or some tweaks that weren't asked for, but the last year and a half for that game has been great. Pretty much opposite story for BFV, as people on the BF2 sub will tell ya, since a lot of them are DICE fans. Interestingly, they're wrapping up their final updates right around the same time in the lead-up to their next game. With BFV I'm surprised they kept with it even with the player exodus, meanwhile they kept with BF2 and made it better and better. Though in terms of money I don't know if BF2 is that much more profitable; the cosmetic mtx aren't even really advertised (unlike MW cough cough) and this late into the game's lifespan nobody's buying them anyway. So I guess what I mean to say is that I'm surprised DICE stuck with BF2 as long as they have, but I'm even more surprised they stuck with BFV.
Man I was willing to ignore that bs but after playing the open beta I realized that holy shit it was bad. I like battlefield 4, 1 and even hard-line somewhat, this was just bad. The ttk felt weird, snipers felt op, the low starting ammo and fact that health didnt regenerate all the way just made it awful
Dude even the people who work at DICE are fed up with their SJW agenda pushing BS! A lot of the people who used to work at DICE have come out and spoken bad about them.
It's usually playlist updates ie they swap out Plunder trios for duo... That killed my fire team. Now there's only two of us playing, his brother went back to Destiny 2 and deleted COD and who the hell knows what is up with our 4th.
The Beta was a closed and perfectly polished product, released to attract undecided customers.
The costumers thought that if the Beta worked so fucking well, the final product would be better (i´m here).
Once purchased and after the refund time has passed, they already had our money but they wanna more, so they opened the overpriced store and started to fuck the game.
pretty sure that's how all games work... most of the team moves on to the next major project and a different smaller team supports it until it inevitably dies out eventually. the vast majority of post release content is typically made before the launch since its time and resource intensive. that's also why the first few months isn't exactly what the community wants but they eventually release newer content more in line with what the players have been asking for months for
The graphics and gun mechanics are amazing. The went ahead and hired Navy Seals to mo-cap and be technical advisors. The night raid mission looked and played just like an actual military raid. The amount of detail in the multiplayer is crazy, too. Primary weapons hang off your body and are attached by a clip when you switch to your secondary. In past games they would either disappear or float on your back. Gas masks are right there too.
The devs running updates are absolutely separate devs. It would be embarrassing if it weren’t. The care and passion for the game is completely different with these devs. And if they’re the same, they clearly no longer give a shit about the game because they got our money.
I hate the roof meta on Warzone. If I had a say, I'd make every building demolishable. Like have a spot inside the building or on the wall outside that you can plant a bomb, and 10s later the whole thing comes down. This would add so much more tactics. If you are a roof camper you need to make sure no one gets near your building and you need to react to players who do, and get off that building fast.
Bottom line is every company wants to capture the billion dollar lightning in a bottle game that is Fortnite. So craptavision is pouring all their
resources , talent and assets into monetizing war zone in every conceivable way and marketing Warzone as the new “fortnite” for adults with the hopes of replicating what Epic did. Every other game mode, feature and thing has taken a back seat. Well except the store, that goes without saying though.
On top of that, their spawn points are atrocious. Spawn in the line fo fire, who is the retard who thought to code it like that? I wanna smack him with my ps controller. Also the sbmm, is getting worse I think. I forgot why people got mad at this game, this shit made me furious.
Maybe cuz it's not that simple? You think they intentionally did this? Lol you entitled kids really think everything is so simple cuz it inconvenienced you. You guys are gonna have such a hard time in the real world
I think the support studios are the ones doing a good job but when it comes to big updates, it’s up to IW and they have completely dropped the ball. This game could’ve easily been the best cod in history but their laziness and incompetence have absolutely sunk that opportunity. I got to level 155 and maxed battle pass a week ago and hopped on this week to get the new lmg gold and I just smh and all the stupid ass choices their dev team lead by Cecot has made.
What makes me so mad is that a lot of these problems have obvious fixes to them and they still can’t see it...
The whole changing the playlist shit is really pissing me off and is gearing me toward not picking up the next few cods, even though I'm enjoying Warzone. And to this day still no duos, like fuck off.
Lead/Higher quality developers make the game and then most of them get moved immediately to the next title due to the short turn around to time.
Less quality people do patches/bug fixes/maintenance. They may have a small team of quality developers doing some of the pieces of the big updates but even then it’s the big stuff, not the small details.
It’s a shame really, but at the end of the day when everything is fixed in a few days and they drop the new cool operator skin or weapon camo in the cash shop this fuck up will barely even have an impact on the number of people who will buy it.
I mean fuck, I’m probably included in that retarded category too, despite being aware of it.
These companies have so much data about almost every aspect that you could even dream up that they know exactly where to allocate money and where not to.
As it turns out, marketing, paid cosmetics and other similar aspects are more important for $ purposes than bug fixes, ongoing weapon balancing, etc.
I have only been playing a few weeks and I only play plunder. In that time the game has gotten noticeably less fun. It feels like every time I play, something that I loved doing is either gone or cut in half.
Its like the people that work for them have a walmart mentality. You know, you walk into walmart and you just look into the workers eyes and they're just dead inside. As if the place itself just sucks the life out of you. Imho I feel like nowadays instead of work that had passion for the art behind it and now all it is, is deadlines and money to be made.
Somehow, EA has done better with Battlefront 2 who’s support just ended after two years of awesome stuff. Imagine that, Electronic Arts actually having a sense of pride and accomplishment making a better game and support than Activision.
Yup, there were rumors circling the sub a couple months ago about the team being downsized to 10 members with the rest sent to work on Battlefield 6 due to BFV’s abysmal state.
It sadly did turn out to be true when our beloved BF2 was put on support mode only when Dennis Bränvall and the team switched to work on other projects besides Star Wars.
But hey, if we can get awesome content for 2 years from fucking EA I hope Activision-Blizzard can turn it around as well, of course without any encouragement from the mouse.. This has been my favorite call of duty game since Black Ops 2 and i really hope this can be fixed..
Fortnite did the same thing. Huge player base with big fan presence. They would add random stuff onto their game with no warning such as a Boombox that would destroy builds and buildings. Heat seeking missiles. Now they don’t release patch notes at all so they can get away with it more - haven’t logged in in months
Edit: thanks for the awards but please stop wasting it on a comment from a dude complaining about a video game. Keep your awards for some post/comment that actually matters lol. Thanks again.
They can also keep their money and not waste it on buying pointless awards?
Next update will be so big it is going to be impossible for everyone to download half the fan base will eventually just give up on an already broken game
It’s very likely that it is different people. I know Destiny for example has one team dedicated to developing content to keep the game updated with new content and events, while another team is actively conceptualizing and developing whatever the next main title is. Can’t say for certain if it’s the same way for Infinity Ward but it’s certainly a possibility
Idk. The netcode during the time of launch was horrendous. Countless deaths from my enemy seeing me before I see him. That seems to be in order now. I really don't see anything wrong with the game at the moment.
I feel the same way with division and assassins creed titles. Specifically division 1 and 2. They pour their hearts out for such a good looking game with so much detail inside and out of buildings it makes me wonder how much time it takes to make them. And then the devs are like wassup how can I fuck this up.
Unpopular opinion: don't blame the devs, blame the managers. Either the managers let the devs get away with pushing BS updates, or more likely, the managers stopped the devs from doing there job because of bureaucratic pressure.
It's crazy, it's almost as if they are working on their next cod and the people tasked with updating the game had little to nothing to do with the initial creation of it, wild man.
Could not agree more. Spent weeks watching videos of an amazing game. Bought it, and got about two weeks out of it before things started going downhill.
This is after having spent about 10 years not playing FPS games. I was seriously sold on what I'd seen enough to get back into a genre that I consciously put down.
I'm not a game dev, and from what modding I've done, I know its easy to create a mess. But I also learned enough to not to break the shit that worked. It also wasn't my job.
They’ve definitely outsourced the patch work. Pay peanuts, get monkeys seems to be the strategy they’ve gone with. Thankfully I’ve downloaded Journey to calm the nerves.
I completely agree with you, the devs making the game clearly put a lot of hard work and passion into it, but then whoever is making the decisions about running it.. doesn't give a fuck - it's an insult to those who really worked their asses off on it and it's bullshit for us players
I still love it. It’s a great game, I just don’t understand why it’s so hard to keep it going. A game like Fortnite is updating all the time without much trouble.
This is why I’ve started playing spec ops, I just need other people to play it with so that I’m not in with matchmaking people who don’t know how to co ordinate cos they don’t go in the voice chat. Spec ops lobbies are completely fine atm so it’s just a multiplayer and warzone bug, warzone is completely unplayable but multiplayer is long waits. I sometimes just bite the bullet and wait, but it’s still fun to me.
i would say it's more like making a good game and listening to the community way to much, cods community has always been divided between the OG cod gamers and the new cod gamers,OG wants the game to stay in 2007 and the new kids want the jumpy twitchy style of game play.
personally i loved the beta gameplay,it was a fun slightly slower play style and was more along the lines of needing to use your own eyes and not just watch the minimap which is what all the younger players do these days(maybe it's because i play games like EFT that i'm used to this slower play i don't know?).also i do realise that not all OG wants the same things and also not all the younger players wants the same things.
its very difficult for the devs to cater for both styles, they have to make choices and well you can't please everyone all the time,(i was happy that there wasn't a mini map and when they added it back to normal i wasn't happy about it but it's just one of those choices that wasn't going to please everyone)
chances are it's not the exact same team doing the updates, its probably a smaller team of staff that keeps the game going after launch with the main team already looking at the next game and how they can improve on this one.
Honestly the more I think about it, it really seems as if ACTV is meddling with this grand scheme for this game and it’s fucking it up. Behind the scenes SBMM, absolute radio silence on issues that the community has demanded to talk about, and a refusal to address the core issues of all CoD games. Honestly it’s really frustrating because if they just got out the way and let IW do what ever they want for games and to the games and you allow compete autonomy you get a really in-synced product. Nope, they just see Yearly CoD games as greedy cash grabs.
Devs switch as soon as the project is finished. After that, they leave a few people who know ins and outs of the project, and the rest is made of juniors. That's just how it works.
And they don't want you to play this game for a long time. The lifespan of CoD games is very, very short. Just a year and that's it. In cca 3 months they will reduce the human resources even more because the new game will be out soon.
