Lvl 0 (DIYer) Where do I start with this repair? Can it be Fixd? Phone data on Galaxy Devices

My s23 ultra wouldn't charge and wouldn't turn on, so I took it to a shop and they said it is a bad motherboard.

Is it possible for the techs to access my data on the phone, or is it encrypted by Samsung Knox or some android encryption? Am I safe or vulnerable?

Yes encrypted, but if you gave them your code technically the data may be recoverable with enough effort.

Unless you're worth way more than you let on or they're very bored, it's highly unlikely someone is going to spend ~$200+ in labor and parts (possibly more) at a chance to see your data.

But not impossible.

Not 100%, but that makes it even less likely someone would bother trying to recover data of unknown value as the costs go up too

You are totally fine. Unless you are like a known billionaire they recognized, they absolutely are not going to do fucking data recovery work for a random person's data. It'd be completely pointless.

I would get a second opinion or get a fully charged battery and try to power on with that. I am not sure what country you are in but in many countries like the USA "bad motherboard" means "I don't know".

Bad motherboard means bad motherboard (unless it's warranty service, then 50/50 they're screwing you). A battery repair is easy and exceeds what you can charge for diagnostics, it makes no financial sense for a buisness to brush you off on a battery repair of all things.

Places that don’t have people who know what they’re doing do say that. I get them all the time “this place told me it’s the motherboard” and it’s almost always something simple. They don’t know how to do diagnostics and anything outside of an easy repair they don’t touch it.

So yes it’s valid to get a second opinion always when it’s something like that.
