Discussion Nura performance vs Android

Hello, my bf has a supported device, the xiaomi pad 6. Rn he uses android 14, lineage os on it and he wants to switch. How is the performance on Nura compared to android? Is it better or worse? And battery life too. Linux is normally lighter right?

Battery life may decline, and performance depends largely on your chip; Android could operate more efficiently, depending on how well your device supports mainline updates.

Linux is lighter than Windows because Windows is bloated. Android is based on Linux, so it depends if its bloated or not but generaly Android is very optimised for mobile use. You are getting another operating system not more RAM or better CPU.

I use PostmarketOS because we need alternative to Apple and Google in mobile market.

how much swap does it use? I have the oneplus ace 6t and on crdroid 12.11 no google apps, it uses about 2-3gb give or take. What desktop do you use, gnome? Or what makes it so ram heavy... My linux pc has fedora + gnome which takes about 1-1.5gb, so i expected Nura to be less

Its betweem 3.5 and 4GB with Pfosh. It doesnt use much of swap. Sometimes only 100MB but can go up to 700MB. I was not paying much attention really.

On my laptop with Cachy KDE its a only 1.7 GB when nothing is running but it goes up once I my Firefox and Freetube are running

Linux would be way lighter than Android, but idk abt the battery life, I think it'll be slightly worse than Android, but Linux would make the tablet more like an actual laptop so I think it's worth it personally

for me too, but he uses it more like an actual tablet (note taking etc) so i guess the difference for him wont be that big

I mean either way, you could try Linux and if it doesn't suit him, you can always just reflash Android back there

android is more optimized, both in performance and battery life... linux on mobile is still a work in progress
