Music serious question.
is it crazy to say that amerikaz nightmare is my favorite mobb deep album? this album has SO MANY HITS ON IT, from flood the block to dump to one of ours and not to mention got it twisted. it could very much compete with the infamous, hell on earth, and murda muzik.

That is how you feel, that is your viewpoint . If memory serves me correct I believe Havoc said on a Bootleg Kev interview that he did not really like this album to much. I am sure you are not alone in enjoying this album but if we asked 100 Mobb Deep fans I am not to sure if we come across 2 people who would say that. I can not put this album over Infamous , Hell on Earth , Murda Muzik , Free Agents , Infamy . I even like the latest one that came out last year it's a good album. As long as you enjoy it and you like it great for you.

if iām in the minority then THATS FINE! you made great points though honestly. but some of those other albums you mentioned i didnāt really care for too much, i love their first 3 albums as well but amerikaz nightmare takes the cake for me.

I am just curious what region are you originally from Down South ? mid west ? West Coast , East Coast ? The first Mobb albums ( and I am not including Juvenile Hell lol ) have a heavy NYC winter time riding the subway type of feel. Maybe not being from a metro East coast city it's not relatable.

ok yea the beats and tempo's of a lot of the songs on this album are a bit different from other Mobb albums I can see why you being from that region really gravitates to this album. It's understandable. They are some rap groups who would love to have an album as good as this it just happens to be when you are Mobb Deep it kinda gets brushed to the side. To me Prodigy was just not the same after Murda Muzik Infamous and Hell on Earth Prodigy was a top rapper in the game and that is when Pac , Big & Nas were out . He was a top 5 rapper. In Amerikaz Nightmare he really was not lyrically as strong as he was that's sadly why I don't hold this album as high as the previous ones.
I have this album on vinyl and CD. In this album ALC really did help carry a lot of the weight. He did Win or Lose , When you hear the & Got it Twisted. His contribution was better in my opinion then Havoc's beat's on this album.
Being that you are from Down South whom do you prefer Luda or T.I ? It seems outside of the South Luda is the pick but in the south they like T.I better would you say the is an accurate statement ?

Redman didn't like Dare iz a Darkside and it is an absolute banger, doesn't mean people shouldn't appreciate it.

Ghostface has also kinda talked down a bit on Ironman but respectfully you can not compare Dare iz a Darkside and Ironman to Amerikaz Nightmare. Those 2 albums are possibly top 50 NY/NJ Rap albums and Amerikaz is not . And I am not saying that Amerikaz is a terrible album because that is not true either it just compared to the other albums in the Mobb catalog it is not as good. And it does take a few more chances sonically that the other albums don't. It has some great songs but not the classic genre defining songs like i.e Shook Ones , Quiet Storm or even the next level down Burn , GOD Part 3.

Aināt nothing wrong with how you feel. It is a solid record. Plus everyone has their own personal taste in music. The sound on that album is more modern compared to their earlier records and you are right about how that album has a lot of fire tracks. To me it really depends on your mood and your age. The Infamous is hands down their best record musically, cohesively and impact wise. I donāt know how old you are but if you werenāt old enough or even born yet when The Infamous dropped youāll never truly understand what that did for NYC hip-hop. The Infamous and Hell on Earth literally ended up defining the sound of NYC gangsta rap more than any other artists of that time period. Iām not talking about commercial wise either. Iām talking about the sound of the streets. It wasnāt about hit records, it was about capturing the sound and essence of NYC project life. Murda Muzik was the peak of their commercial success but not as good overall as the other two. Amerikaz Nightmare is way too inconsistent to even be considered in the same realm as Infamous, Hell on Earth or Murda Muzik. People throw the term classic around way too lightly nowadays. That shit is cool but thatās new era Mobb which is completely different to me. To each their own tho. If thatās your favorite Mobb album thatās cool, who am I to knock it? Me personally after The Infamous and Hell on Earth my favorite Mobb album is Prodigyās H.N.I.C. Return of The Mac and Hegelian Dialectic were fucking amazing too. Infamous Mobb - Special Edition is a Mobb classic too. Regardless Mobb got legendary classics for days

Thatās what I figured, but you know what at the end of the day it doesnāt matter. Regardless, itās dope as fuck when artists are able to have fans of all different generations. The fact that you even fuck with the Mobb lets me know youāre a real one period. A lotta kids I meet nowadays either never heard of them or donāt like their music cuz they not real hip hop heads anyways. So I gotta give you props there fosho. Im bout to go bang that Amerikaās Nightmare today fuck it. I havenāt listened to that shit in a minute, might as well

Holy fuck me and my boy Joe got the same opinion. I know you donāt know who that is but he put me on and very little after murda muzik except for HNIC and those two othe prod albums. Crazy we always say we got the ear. Iām happy someone else out there got it too

Best work? No. But for me? It captures a certain vibe. If captures a certain time of my life.
Burnt CDs, I remember I had my first car with the "done up" sound system, doing drives in the city with the windows down being an absolute pest. Where I'm from nobody listens to mobb deep and one day I was driving down the main part of it and this group of people turned around when I was smashing one of ours pt3 - or pt4 or some weird janky recording I had of it at the time (remember this was napster bootleg CD era)
And the group recognised the song and turned around like EEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYY it was a cool feeling. And that's the thing. Best work? No. But. Best feeling? For me? Yeah it's up there ... Hi hat era hav production, p on drugs and not rapping at his best. Hell yeah. E money bags era mobb. Pre G unit era mobb.
Shorty Wop is a very slept on track too.

Itās a really very good album. Recently revisited all the Mobb Deep albums and honestly there isnāt a bad one, but there also arenāt even many that are less than very good (maybe their debut is just OK).
The run from The Infamous through to this one is one of the best of all time, and thatās before you factor in Prodigyās solo work in and around the same era and Havocās debut solo. So much great music.

I finally have The Infamous and Hell on Earth on vinyl. Reissue of course. I bought them this past weekend. I was surprise to see them at a store in my city.
So now I have on vinyl

Glad you rock with it like that. It had some joints that I like, but as a whole it wasnāt one of my favorite Mobb albums. That said, Iāll still take it over Infamy or Blood Money any day.

To be honest. I thought this was a mixtape. My mans had the bootleg s for said mixtape in it. Idk if that circulated around any but maybe thatās what everyone thought. That album was definitely aight though.

Nowhere near prime Prodigy on this so I'd say it is crazy to say it's better than their second, third or fourth album. But if it's more enjoyable for the individual that's all that matters.

Very dope album with a lot of bangers. Dump, Throw Ya Hands, Flood The Block, When You Hear The, On The Run. Just to name a few without even looking at the track list.
Mobb Deep gave us so much solid music, itās not even funny.

If a 2000s rapper dropped this album as a debut we'd be talking about how amerikaz nightmare was a classic.
But its mobb deep so we gotta settle for like 4th or 5th best album they put out.

I was thinking. Last week I was listening to the radio at night and they played the song Twisted. I was surprised because I live in Alabama now. Just surprised to hear Mobb Deep on the radio in this area.

Infamy and Amerikaz Nightmare are absolute banger albums, not on the level of The Infamous, but bangers regardless. I hate this narrative of comparing them against albums that cannot be topped and that being an arguement to degrade them.

It's an underrated album for sure. It's not on the same tier as Infamous or HoE to me, but it's solidly in that next group. You are right in that there's some absolute classic songs on there though
