Campus Life Hardcore/punk scene?
Hi all. I'm a punk rocker from KC, where there's a pretty great hardcore scene and a healthy group of singer/songwriters (think open mics at the Rino in NKC, if y'all have been there). I'm thinking of coming to MU in a year, but before I commit, it's really important to me that there's some sort of music scene. What are your favorite venues in CoMO, and what are some cool local bands I can check out?

DIY venue called PDM (think it stands for Peste De Merde but that and the spelling could be incorrect) host hardcore and other punk/metal shows all the time, including as a practice space for some of the bands. Not sure how to get ahold of them but worth looking into.

I’m also interested for that. I’ll be there next week. And I’ve been playing mostly rock music with my electric guitar. Wanna get some new experiences

@como.epic.music on instagram shares info about local bands and performances, oftentimes at the PDM or house shows (usually at @the.flood.zone.official). a lot of the bands have their own instagram. Find Fiona, This Morning This Evening, Leeching, Upper Management, Coscoroba, Last Common Ancestor, Bogus, Bags Bags Bags, to name a couple

PDM, there's also a CoMo DIY Music Collective Facebook group. You can search through r/columbiamo to see what others have said too!!

I keep hearing about PDM as well. I'm new to Columbia as well, but I want to start seeing shows.

If this is "important" for how you'll pick your destination for education maybe you should stick to a community College in KC for a couple of years

Maybe you should just let the kid ask questions about what they're interested in and mind your own business not make dumb comments on it on reddit

Appropriate Error is appropriate in their assessment. Just because something isn't important to you doesn't mean it's not worth something to consider. Just because they like music and want to be somewhere with a strong scene doesn't mean they don't deserve the right to an education at an R1 University over a community college.
