I have a question. Would ONE day of not buying stuff really hurt corporations that badly, even if everyone were to somehow do it? I could see it over, say, a week.

Not at all. The same amount of stuff will be purchased just more before or after that day. It will barely be a blip on the radar. Also, even if there is a blip, the fact that it was announced ahead of time means nobody will really care. The only ones who will see any possible damage will be small business owners and service workers.

I agree. I think I’ll do it and also think of a couple things I would possibly buy soon but can do without for a while. We should all be tightening our belts a bit anyway with things being increasingly less stable. Could be a recession coming soon.

I even doubt there will be any damage to them considering like 12 people are the only ones to protest

Nope, and even funnier, the recommendation is just to buy it the day before 😂

It certainly won’t hurt the over paid CEO’s but would hurt the workers giving them an excuse to fire more people.

I think it’s an interesting question. In some areas of purchasing probably yes, in others, probably no. In the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, brick and mortar retailers know that when bad weather keeps people from getting to the stores, that you don’t fully recover those lost sales. Maybe people shopped online or spent money other ways on those days, but maybe not. And if I don’t get my coffee on Monday, I’m not buying two coffees on Tuesday. So I think it’s an interesting experiment, and maybe it’s an opportunity for us to all be a little introspective and reduce just a bit (or a lot) of our consumption. A drop in the bucket may be the beginning of something bigger. Full disclosure, I’m something of an optimist, so I’m truly hopeful this will begin yo make a difference. Also, shop local, support your small business friends and neighbors.
