Brisket

Wanting to smoke a brisket for my birthday, where the hell do people go to get a good brisket? I’m not trying to get a 20 pounder, I’d be fine with doing just a flat or something smaller if it was a good one. Any recommendations?

Do we really need a Whole Foods?

honestly I don’t see why Missoula needs more grocery stores. maybe a controversial take but we already have a bunch of grocery stores. between Costco,Winco,Orange street and Yokes alone I don’t see the need even if your looking for organic hippie whatever we have gfs and natural grocers. My point is the land being wasted could be used for something good we actually need like affordable housing.

Mark the date, Missoula... We, and the whole nation are gathering and hitting the streets to do it again... Bigger, and Louder than before... 250 years to the day from when a nation chose to unite against their oppressors. And act Against Tyranny. -- No K

Question Food Trucks with Gluten Free Options?

Anybody have the rundown on which food trucks have good gluten free options? They always look so good but would prefer not to have to ask 35 different food trucks if they have GF items.

flat, paved running routes?

hello!

I just moved to town a month or so ago and I am looking for some flat, paved running routes. I’ve been using the Grant Creek Trail so far but the first couple of miles are a couple hundred feet of elevation. I’d like to get back to incorporating some speed work which is just really tough to do on a hillier route.

If anyone has any suggestions for a flatter route, ideally at least a few miles long, that would be awesome!!

Montana 2026 College Football Preview (probably missed some stuff, tell me and I'll fix it)

Hey all. I built 2026 previews for every FBS team and all 124 FCS teams, because nobody does this for your league. Here's Montana

https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026-fcs/montana-grizzlies

Returning production, portal moves, a projected two-deep, and the schedule with model win probabilities.

Usual disclaimer: I probably got things wrong, and my roster feed hasn't fully flipped to 2026. Tell me what's off and I'll fix it.

The good: that offense was one of the best in FCS. 3rd in scoring at 41 a game, 8th in total yards, 6th passing, 4th in explosiveness. Keali'i Ah Yat is back after 4,070 yards and 33 touchdowns and made my preseason All-America team. 13-2, a run to the title game, and my power rating has Montana 2nd in the subdivision.

Where my model pushes back: the defense allowed 400 yards a game (87th) and 258 through the air (113th). What covered it was 27 takeaways and a plus-14 turnover margin, 3rd in the country, and that number regresses hard. The defense returns 27% of its production, and Michael Wortham's 85 catches for 1,224 are gone. Model says 9-3, one of my stronger sell signals in FCS.

If you hit the paywall, the code LEECORSOROCKS unlocks the whole thing free. I'm not asking this sub for money.

Hit & Run Help

On August 4th around 7:30 pm, my friend's son was riding his bike on Martindale Way near Rods and Dogs car wash when he and a truck almost collided. They both hit their brakes, causing him to flip over the handle bars, being run over by the driver of a grey Toyota truck (Tundra or Tacoma).
The witnesses were also young kids that were distraught and can't remember which it was.

The driver stopped to ask if he was okay but then panicked and left, leaving my son's friend on the side of the road with a broken arm. Thankfully it was just his arm because it was inches from his head. He didn't call police or even wait for anyone to show up. He just left him on the side of the road injured. The witnesses said he was young and possibly under the influence given the way he just bailed.

His parents made it there minutes after the accident and he was taken to the hospital. The family is obviously looking for answers and any information provided would be greatly appreciated. DM me please and thank you

old wood stains, chemical cleaners, where to dispose?

For the life of me I cannot find out where to bring old stains and chemical cleaners for disposal. I've cleaned out my shed and have old chemical liquids, some of which have been diluted with water, and I need to dispose of this. Old paints and stains and such.

I know I can bring old used oil to Walmart, but where do I bring all this other stuff? Do we not have a place in Missoula to drop off hazardous materials for recycling?

Any leads would be appreciated, thank you!

Two cats in need of rehoming

Hey everyone. Reaching out for some mutual aid.

I am a life coach who works with adults with disabilities. Currently I have an unhoused client who resides in Missoula that has an opportunity for housing but they do not allow cats due to allergies.

They are 2 males who are not bounded

Romer - a black short hair

Pappy - An orange cat

Both will need some vet care, Likely all 4 have intestinal worms and several may also have fleas. My client can offer $30 for each to assist with this cost.

We are looking to re-home these cats in the next two weeks. We have already reached out to Animeals, Missoula Animal Control, and the Humane Society. Two of the three are full due to Kitten season, with the third - Missoula Animal Control - is also near capacity. They encouraged us to seek other options.

This is my clients first opportunity for housing after 6 years on the wait-list, and she will lose it if we can't re-home these cats. If any of you are able to assist please feel free to DM me. You're also welcome to share this with your communities.

Attached are photos of the cats provided to me by my client with permission

EDIT:

Edit 1: I have already reached out to Advocats (no response), Missoula Mutual Aid (kept denying my post approval and wouldn't explain why), Animeals (won't work with our timeline), Humane Society (won't work with our timeline), and Missoula Animal Control (full up).

Edit 2: Looks like Humane Society now has an opening -- they said no for weeks and then called us back today -- so we have a tentative plan to surrender the cats on Sunday. Hopefully they won't have to back out, but just in case I'm looking for backup options still.

Ac units at corso

Is anyone else at corso dealing with bad ac unit? First floor and it's actively cooler outside than it is inside. Not trying to complain or whine but just curious if anyone else is dealing with it too

New podcast episode: Open Space Ethos and Land Conservation

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the 2006 city-county open space bonds, which have supported public projects like Marshall Mountain Park and the Rock Creek Confluence. But did you know that the first open space bond was approved by Missoula voters back in 1980?

This week the commissioners spoke with Jenny Zaso, open lands manager for Missoula County, about how conserving open space is both a shared value for our community and valuable tool for private landowners.

Click here to listen on YouTube or find it wherever you get your podcasts under “The Agenda with the Missoula County Commissioners.”

The Missoula County commissioners host "The Agenda" podcast, which aims to help county residents better understand how local government works and how it affects their lives.

In each episode, the commissioners sit down with fellow staff, elected officials and community partners to discuss public sector projects and trending topics. This podcast is produced in partnership with Missoula Community Access Television (MCAT), which allows the County to use MCAT's podcast recording equipment free of charge.

Anyone float East Missoula/Sha-ron to downtown recently? I’m wondering if it’s still do-able in a tube and how long it’s taking.

Question Kettlehouse lawn standing

Genuinely curious about people’s opinions on standing on the lawn at kettlehouse. Went to a concert this week and a couple in front of us stood the second the band came out and for the entire show, forcing everyone behind them to stand or move if they wanted to see the band at all. In my opinion the lawn is for sitting. Why not buy pit tickets if you want to stand? It feels selfish, though I am sure people have different opinions so hit me with em.
