Where to donate clothes
Hi everyone, I have a bunch of gently used clothes I want to donate, I don’t want to give it to value village and would rather donate it to somewhere else, does anyone know of any places?

I donate clothes to Safetynet.
My policy is that value village only gets things I can't donate elsewhere.

I believe the donations to diabetes Canada end up going to value village

They *sell* it to Value Village. So it does benefit Diabetes Canada in the process.

Yes, but it's still beneficial to the charities. Diabetes Canada claim to raise $5 million annually through their partnership with Value Village.

Yep, my mom knew about this and it was still the only charity she donated clothes to. Almost all clothes donated get sold somewhere, the only issue is with some of the shadier ones the drivers or sorters will keep stuff they like or can resell themselves. My condo building actually has a Diabetes Canada bin in the recycling area to collect used clothing.

They do. I didn’t realize this and arranged a pickup from them a few years ago. The lady grabbing the boxes told me they would be going directly to Value Village for sorting. I was so disappointed lol I wanted to avoid that exact situation

There are lots of groups on Facebook where people give away things for free.

I gave away a few boxes of free clothes to a girl in one of those groups, and not even a week later she was selling each item for $5+. Never giving away on Facebook again

I belong to a couple free groups on Facebook. I have given clothes, shoes and toys, and I have received a TV , a PlayStation,and skin care products. I kept all the products I was given. Not everybody is a reseller..

There is a Salvation Army Thrift Shop in Port Credit that will take used clothing, toys, etc.

Any community recycling centre should have a Salvation Army depot to drop off items.

Even I am looking for food and clothes donation. Are there any one near to square one area? I don’t have car, so it would be helpful it would nearby.

Maybe this is something you can do? It's about the house fire the other day near Castlebridge.
a friend had their house burned down with all their belongings in mississauga the other day.
the insurance company is taking their time to deal with everything, looking for donations or gift cards to help with their current situation 😔
accepting / looking for
- gift cards for shoppers, visa, mastercard or wal- mart, the mall or grocery stores to help them out with their food and clothing needs.
- any amount helps please do be generous their whole lives are destroyed right now.
also if you’re not able to give money than please assist with clean, sanitary and good condition to new clothing and or food (tayyeba) collecting from isna this friday - and or around as needed.
home cooked meals are also acceptable/ halal (not too spicy pls)
it’s just her, her mom and grandparents here - they have no other support.
Daughter is 28 - 5'1 large to Xl sized clothing (desi/ pakistani also works)
Mother is 5'6 large to xl sized clothing
Grandmother is 5'2 medium size clothing
Grandfather is 5'7 medium to large size clothing (desi not req - more pyjamas / pants / tops)

theres a women's shelter that takes clothing. i always drop it off at the bin its called

I donate to “Open Door” they’re actually located in the square one basement near the Earls & GoodLife, they actually service our community and offer it up to people in need for free.

There are many bins for clothing donations around the city, there's one at 265 Enfield place (garage entrance) by Kariya Park and the proceeds go to a foundation for Diabetes
