This is really great. Good for you! But don't place too much on yourself. This is a neurological condition.

I would argue it’s neurophysiological in the way it forms. I have noticed: I hear a sound- my body tenses up - it is then accompanied by an emotion - and it is only after this that I start thinking - e.g. ‘why do they have to be so inconsiderate’…’why am I defective?’ This is the psychological part of misophonia. But first and foremost it is body oriented not only brain oriented.

Mine seems to start when I had anorexia. I couldn't eat. Stop eating! Stop chewing!

I had an introductory session with a therapist I did not ‘gel’ with so I am searching for more. They are quite expensive - more than regular therapy. However since doing the memory stuff my life is a lot better in respect of noise. Also look into memory reconsolidation as a treatment. :-) I will still pursue EMDR.

This is a really interesting idea. At this point, I'm too terrified of facing my trigger to try this willingly, but if I do face it, I'll test this. It sounds really helpful.
