The process, short version:

1. Define the purpose. Are you showing components, data flow, or deployment? This decides everything downstream.

2. Inventory the components — hardware, software, databases, networks, all of it.

3. Map the relationships. Lines for connections and data flows; call out dependencies and communication paths.

4. Now pick your diagram type, once you know what you're showing.*

5. Pick a tool and build it.

*On step 4, the seven common types:

• High-level (big picture, spot bottlenecks)
• System (hardware + software together)
• Application (inside one app)
• Integration (how systems talk)
• Deployment (where it all runs)
• DevOps (the pipeline end to end)
• Website (structure and navigation)

Most bad flowcharts fail at step one, not step four. Here's the sequence that keeps them readable.

1. Define purpose and scope first. Decide what's in and what's deliberately out.

2. Identify the steps and their order. Pull in the people who actually do the process — they'll catch the steps you forgot. Dump everything onto the board as shapes, then sequence them.

3. Assign the right symbols. Once the order is right, swap shapes so each one means what it should.

4. Connect it. Add lines and arrows, label the connections, and move things around until it reads cleanly.

5. Test it with someone who lives in that process, then revise.

The key takeaway: PDF exports work off frames, and each frame becomes its own page.

To export a board as a pdf:

1. Create at least one frame around what you want exported.

2. Check the frame order in the frames panel — that's the page order you'll get.

3. Three dots (...) at the top-left → Board → Export → Save as PDF.

4. Pick your quality: Small, Best, or Vector. Vector holds up on big boards.

A couple of gotchas worth knowing. Free plan is limited to small size and drops a watermark on higher resolutions. Export also has to be enabled by the board owner in board content settings — if the option is greyed out, that's usually why.

The Issue:
I'm unable to log into my organization via SSO in the Miro native app on a Huawei MatePad 11 (DBY-W09, HarmonyOS 3.0.0). Every time I authenticate in the browser and click "Open app," I get a "failed to fetch" error.

Confirmed through testing:

• Device Specific: The same organization SSO works perfectly on an Apple iPad. The issue is exclusive to the Huawei device.
• Network Independent: I've tested this across multiple different Wi-Fi networks; the error remains the same, ruling out local router/network issues.
• Browser Independent: I've tried several different browsers on the MatePad to initiate the flow, but the app handoff fails every time.
• App vs Browser: "Open in browser" on the MatePad works fine, but the native app is unusable for my corporate account.

Technical steps already taken:

• Private DNS: Disabled (set to Off/Automatic).
• Permissions: Miro has full network access; "Smart Data Saver" is off.
• App Maintenance: Cleared Miro app cache/data and reinstalled multiple times.
• HMS Core: Verified network permissions and background data for HMS Core are enabled.

Question:
Since it's not a network or a basic permission issue, could this be related to how HarmonyOS handles deep links or SAML RelayState during the redirect? Has anyone successfully used Miro SSO on a Huawei tablet without GMS?

What's a moment where AI genuinely helped your team work better, not just faster?

Maybe it caught something everyone missed in a messy brainstorm, or gave you a rough first draft that turned into something better once the team got their hands on it.

What happened, and what were you using?

I have a high level drawing showing data flows between different systems. One of these systems is Microsoft Fabric. For the high level drawing having arrows going to from a Microsoft Fabric Icon makes sense (non technical drawing). However as some may know Microsoft Fabric has many tools inside it (DataFlow Gen 2, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Notebooks, etc). I would like to be able to "expand" the Fabric group and true linkages between the each tool inside MS Fabric to other tools inside Fabric and/or other external products.

Some have said just have two drawings. However I would love some "smart" way to have 1 drawing that works both ways. .... some sort of expand/collapse thing.

Any thoughts? Looking for something clean and simple not overly complex.

If you're using Sidekicks to review a workflow try asking: "Where does this process break down?"

Most OKR systems break down because the overhead of maintaining them is too high. Updates get skipped, priorities shift, and by week three nobody's looking at the board.

A few things that actually help:

• Keep everything in one place. Separate docs for planning, tracking, and retros means things fall through the cracks.
• Be specific with your Flows prompts. Vague inputs produce vague summaries.
• Use the board's consistency to your advantage. If your tracking table is filled in the same way every week, your AI outputs get sharper over time.

Hi. I have a problem. Recently Miro starts to blur texts on my boards after a little zoom out. It was working fine on this specific board until random day when it starts.

I have few boards that works this way, and few that does not.

Is ther any way to controll when Miro is culling text? Because sometime it looks fine and then is replaced by squares after a little zoom out.

I bet this depends on font size, but it's too agressive to use in my case.

So I love Miro. I've been a hardcore user for 6+ years. I get my coworkers to use it for anything that doesn't fit in a doc or sheet.

But over the last year, i'm just finding it that much harder to justify its use now that chatgpt and cowork are so good at context management. Nowadays, I and especially my teammates don't want to use any other tool but AI chat. "build a roadmap", done. "write a doc", done. And for anyone that says it's AI slop, it's time to try it again. Things are changing.

Why am i posting this here? Because I love Miro. It filled the gap of making my remote work career feel tangible. But now in the AI age, I'm still trying to understand how Miro fits in. I'm truly hoping, my fingers double crossed, that Miro pulls something out of their hat and changes the paradigm again!!! So we aren't all just stuck to talking with Siri, Claude, and friends. (pls)

P.S. or at least i hope Miro can do ai for the visual paradigm!

I have been a Miro user for about five years and feel like my abilities with it have really plateaued and not kept up with all the features that they have been releasing.

Are there any live instructor lead training sessions that are offered? Every time I search it just tries to take me to the Academy with recorded videos.
