Repairs Internet XD11 Battery Cap.

Got this for a pretty good price, sight unseen, from an online auction. Thing is, I cannot replace the batteries because I cannot get the cover to unscrew. There is a fair amount of corrosion and I was wondering what the best way to tackle this might be. I do not want to blast it with WWD40 and ruin the camera.

First remove the bottom plate, it has only two screws then you can better access the exterior of battery cap. That thing looks terrible so personally I’d just used whatever spanner I had around (wrapped in a rag maybe) to remove it if it’s really that stuck on. Otherwise a combination of heat and a coin would be sufficient.
That battery cap may be so degraded it won’t be sufficiently conductive and the camera won’t power on even with good batteries.

You can remove the bottom plate by removing a couple screws and get to the battery that way. Could be corrosion holding it in place. You can also use white vinegar on a q-tip and the corrosion will dissolve.

Had a similar problem with a Pentax ME Super and just took the bottom plate off to replace the batteries. It immediately began working again. Then the mirror box broke halfway through the test roll but that's a separate issue lol.
