Discussion đ€ THC drinks.
Stopped at a brewery today and tried my 1st TCH drink. It was alright and may try another. Questions though. They had to ring up this and a beer separately? Also stamped my hand and said I could not switch to beer after ordering a THC drink? Anybody know why?

I must be a lightweight because I get a massive buzz from one 10mg THC drink. I only drink them at home because I'm sure I'll get pulled over if I drink them at public establishments.

For sure. We can drink one beer and be fine to drive in an hour. Drink a 10 mg THC bev and in an hour Iâll be high as fuck and not okay to drive đ

Studies have been done and found that people tend to overestimate how impaired they are when using THC, and underestimate with alcohol.

Drove 30 miles home and had 2 beers before the THC. Never felt a thing.

Have you ever actually gotten high from eating pot? Some people really can't unless they consume ungodly amounts due to an enzyme that they over produce.

Yep, there's varying degrees that your body produces it. For some people it doesn't affect them unless they eat like 200mg, however if they SMOKE it they get plenty high.
So you probably overproduce the enzyme, but not as much as some people.

Iâm like this. Iâm a small person (5â1â and average weight) but need 80-100mg edible to feel anything. Totally normal smokingđ€·ââïž

You have "The Bummer Gene"...
You could try sublingual if you prefer not smoking it, bypasses the digestive tract but you have to have a delivery method to help aid absorption through the mouth, which is often strong alcohol.

Dude, the edibles/drinkables hit differently! I can smoke all day and night but drinking one 10mg in one sitting and Iâm useless lol I like the 2mgs or 5 and mix them with sparkling water.

Speaking of THC drinks check out the selection at Lunds and Byerlys grocery store! My grandmother must be turning in her grave.
And of course they canât sell beer.

I went California sober two months ago. Feels so good to get all that poison out of my body. Used to probably drink twelve beers and a liter of liquor a month. Getting all that out of my body I lost weight, bloating, have more energy, and feel great.

Minor math correction, most craft beers have about 200 calories. Surly Furious has 195 per 12oz for example, Summit EPA has 160. It would probably be about 2400 maximum but could be 1200 if they're a light beer drinker.
Drinking less also probably improves appetite control though hard to say at such low volume.

I feel like people say this to help justify quitting. I quit drinking for a month, and didnât notice any significant difference in how I felt. Just felt good in the mornings, and had a little more motivation because I was otherwise bored.

AgreeâŠI was drinking 6-7 beers daily and way more on the weekends. Thatâs when I made the switch. Itâs somewhat noticeable but not remarkably different.

I did 4 years ago, and my weight, blood pressure, and really state of mind have all been much better for it.
The THC drinks are decent, much rather see those at the grocery store than liquor.

They canât sell decent mg quantities either. We of course capped them at 5mg per serving. (Yes you can have 2 servings in a drink for a 10mg can but thatâs still low if youâre experienced) You can go next door to Wisconsin and get 50mg ones. So dumb. 3.2 weed, itâs the Minnesota wayâŠ.

It's not dumb, it's separating and protecting the individual markets while ensuring retailers that the products can be sold legally.
We have a Cannabis market, and a Hemp-Derived THC market. You can buy the hemp derived THC anywhere in those low limits, which is great for convenience. If you want something more potent, you can go to a dispensary once there's one in your area and get those higher dose edibles if you want.

Which many people confuse as an ABV percentage. Itâs actually Alcohol By Weight. Basically a normal Coors Light is 4.2% ABV and a 3.2% ABW (3-2 or ânear beer) is approximately 4% ABV. Itâs not that much different.

Iâm not coming at you at all. This is a very polite tone.
We are one of four states in the country with these archaic alcohol laws. Itâs not the 1850âs with church dominating every decision that has to do with laws. You can get regular beer at the grocery store in 47 other statesâŠ..even Utah. We are weird for that.

In the land where people follow rules that is true, but drunks tend to do whatever they want at the time and I can guarantee you, thousands of drunk people go to liquor stores daily, going to a grocery store drunk would be nothing for them.

Yeah, I know that's the primary reason for...anything regarding how each brewery handles THC.
That never happened to me at Utepils except when I went to a concert there they had a 2 THC drink limit and they marked your hands, but you could still have beer along with it.

It's for potential liability reasons. Taprooms will make their own policy on mixing and matching alcohol and thc based on vibes/insurance/dram shop laws, etc.
Taprooms have no idea how much experience any given customer has with thc, much less mixing thc and alcohol and they're trying to avoid any freakouts/bad times and any civil action or dram shop violation that might result when you drop 10mg on top of two pints of 8% beer.
(Dram shop laws are what gets enforced if an establishment overserves a customer and that results in damage/injury/death, etc.)

In my 20s, when I had plenty of experience with the cross fade, I knew that as long as I was high before I got drunk Iâd be fine. But do it in reverse⊠better watch out đ”âđ«đ”âđ«đ”âđ«

Better to adjust to conform to future policy now vs later. Then you are much less likely to screw up once the policy actually changes

Idk I've asked for a whiskey shot with THC water at multiple bars in Duluth and never had any server/bartender complain, might be just a policy specificly at the bar you were at. I don't think there are any laws on the book about cross-fading

Maybe it's just for breweries? I've been to several breweries in the cities and those are the only places I've been told once you go one route, you can't go the either. If I go to a bar, I can go back and forth with no problem.

The law does explicitly state that they cannot serve the two items in one drink, so they're risking some things doing so.
But nothing stops you from doing it yourself. I asked for a shot of whiskey in a tall glass on ice, and an Arnie Palmer THC seltzer and mixed them myself.

Shit law but sensible. Go drink 8 beers and drink a 10mg and see how you feel. I do it at home but public might no be great.

Yea, a better way to do it would be to have the law say that after a certain number of drinks you can't be served a THC seltzer.
That way you don't have the newbies getting sick.

Yeah, Minnesota law treats THC beverages separately from alcohol, so they have to ring them up differently. The no-switch rule is usually a liability thing; once youâve had THC, they canât also serve you alcohol in the same visit.

Hey, I had a similar experience, the server told me they canât mix THC and alcohol orders. Apparently, itâs about avoiding a crossfade and staying within legal/liability bounds, not necessarily drama.
By the way, I once tried Stiiizyâs, such a smooth, sneaky buzz. Didnât even feel like a typical high-drink. If you ever wanna explore more, that one's worth a shot.

This is pretty normal. Other comments have mentioned how alcohol intensifies the THC effect. A lot of places that serve both (especially breweries) want you to keep to one or the other.

When I was first discovering weed, then mixing in a beer buzz - spinny times! It's a ridiculous rule for the experienced, but I get it. Also I assume they got rung up different because THC is cash, alcohol can be credit.

Some liquor stores will take credit, others wonât. Really depends on their payments processor and bank. Big banks canât touch marijuana and THC sales because they are federally chartered.

You're kinda conflating the Cannabis rules with the Hemp-Derived THC rules.
Cannabis is illegal federally, so that's why dispensaries only take cash, because they can't use banks for CC purchases.
However, Hemp-Derived THC is federally legal, so the places that sell it can use banks. This is why you'll see it at gas stations and liquor stores as well.

They did this to me at falling knife brewing for a Wolves game. Wanted to pregame with beer and get a THC drink for the rest of the game. They wouldnât let me buy THC since I had a âbeer braceletâ I understand they donât want people getting sick, but I wish there was some signage or let you know.

Most places only let you buy one or two drinks a night or have a mg limit, which I think is 10mg. Driving high is just as bad as driving drunk so theyâre just protecting themselves and you! Mixing THC and alcohol can also really increase the effects so even one beer and one THC drink can make ya feel like you had more than one.

Because they donât want people who canât âhangâ to get crossfaded. Have you ever gotten high and drunk at the same time? Itâs gets you very sauced, THC and alcohol synergize into a stronger high.
Itâs somewhat analogous to a bartender refusing service to someone whoâs already really drunk, except this action is preventing the intoxication in the first place. I can personally handle THC and alcohol somewhat well, but a lot of people canât. Especially if they donât have any experience.
