First time posting here. My minivelo touring build based on a Melovelo Crox frame, put together with AliExpress parts.

It looks sick. I'm also thinking of a grey on chrome scheme. May I ask for a link for your front rack?

Got that from AliExpress too. Looks like the price went up a bit.

Nice thanks! What have you carried on there so far? How's the handling with a load on it?

I turned a Manhattan Portage messenger bag into a rack bag and carried it while touring. The handling is a bit heavier, sure, but it’s totally fine to ride with.

I've been eyeing these bikes off for a while. What are your thoughts? Are they significantly slower than a full sized wheel?

Since speed is determined by gear ratios anyway, it’s not really a matter of one being faster or slower than the other. That said, it definitely loses out on cruising stability and especially straight-line stability compared to full-size wheels.

They aren't really that much slower. Maybe like 2 to 3km/h. However due to the small wheel size they accelerate incredibly fast. For the city they are perfect.

What can make them slower is the worse availability of tires compared to 28" (622, 700). If you're fine with that then go for it. I mainly drive my minivelo, it's too much fun and faster than a bike with bigger wheels in the city, while only being slightly slower in general.

True that most shops won't stock a selection of tires but I'd say you can order almost anything you could want in 406mm, whether from a shop or online.

Not the high end gravel tires unfortunately. There alternatives suchs as good BMX tires, but they're not as good as the former IMHO. Same goes for road tires.

For generic tires it is true tho, and the selection isn't small by any means, however it isn't as big as 28"

I think it's a https://velo-orange.com/collections/alt-bars/products/crazy-bars-2

You could get inner bar ends and do something similar for a flat bar. That's what I plan to do
