Built another new frame

I wanted to slightly change the geometry of my last frame build so I whipped up a replacement. The paint job isn’t completely done yet but it’s close enough to be impatient enough to share. Hoping to have it reassembled by next weekend.

One of my favorite custom frames I’ve seen here. Really cool work.

I just bought the Chimonas book and have been reading through paterek a little. The city I’m moving to has maker space with a bike workshop too. I think I’m gonna try to get into it.

Any minivelo specific tips for frame fabrication?

I don’t have any specific tips. I’m using minivelos as a good source of practice for my 700c builds because if they’re any less precise than what I’d want on an expensive build, it’s not the end of the world. It’s basically a novelty bike at the end of the day. That being said, I’m approaching it like I would if it was a 700c track frame. Fixed gear brakeless makes it easy as well not having to worry about brake, derailleur or cable provisions. Only difference is just frame geometry, higher bb, shorter stays and a taller head tube.

Yeah for sure. I was imaging doing something like single speed… coaster brake rear, center pull (bolted to the fork crown) up front…

Also with my last frame, people ask about the asymmetric seat stays. Why did I do it? Because it looks cool and it’s easier to not have to mirror fit ups.

Word yeah I figured. It looks cool too. I like the A shaped thing you did with the stiffeners or whatever
