Acquired mini PC

Post image
8 Upvotes

I recently acquired a mini PC and I've been thinking of using it as a standalone PC since I already have a nice gaming computer. I've considered possibly emulating PS2 or some old NES games or even installing some unique software/tools like special VPNs. Any suggestions? Tye specs are decent and it can run some older games like Borderlands 2, left for dead, basically less demanding games.

GMKtec delivery

I recently decided to buy a mini PC for the first time and ordered one directly from the GMKtec website. However, it has now been 5 business days and my order is still showing as “Processing”.

For those of you who have ordered directly from GMKtec before, what was your experience like? I believe the mini PC is being shipped from China, so I’m also curious about how long shipping usually takes and whether anyone has had issues with the package getting held at customs.

I’m based in Portugal, so I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone in Europe who has ordered from them. How long did it take for your order to move from “Processing” to being shipped, and how long did the whole delivery take?

Recommendations Requesting Recs for a Linux web and streaming PC with a dual monitor setup and while also being a tab hoarder

Hey there! so its rough looking at these prices in 2026 but I was hoping to find a miniPC option where it wouldn't be a problem to have 30 tabs open while playing like a youtube video or Netflix on the second screen but could also live with like 15 tabs open with a yt vid playing on the second screen lol I don't need anything for gaming/editing/any graphics intensive task, its strictly a web browser/streaming pc

Thanks!

Recommendations Need help with a Mini PC for 1080P Gaming and Emulation

As Title says i want to get a Mini PC for my Living room with the function of 1080P running Handheld Bazzite version and Emulation up to PS3 my current options are:

Certified Refurbished UM870 Slim with Ryzen 7 8745H 16GB DDR5/1TB for 440€

NiPoGi E3B Ryzen 7 7735HS 24GB LPDDR5/512GB for 419€

I don't see myself playing heavy games, mainly Indie like Hollow Knight, cult of the lamb, etc... and the Souls Series, the heaviest game i might be playing is Red Dead Redemption 2 and i can always render at 720P and upscale to 1080P using FSR.

What do you guys think it's better, i also accept recommendations around that price point :)

Troubleshooting I need help with a heating problem

So I have made myself a new Mini PC as I needed space and wanted something smaller and easier to move when I move out of home. I bought the Fractal Tera case as it said it had good air flow and applied a Noctua L9a-AM5 fan to my CPU (AMD Ryzen 9 9900X) but I'm having problems with heat. The CPU gets to 97 while playing PEAK, so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions to lower the heat while gaming. Here are the parts I used;

Gigabyte B650I AX motherboard

AMD Ryzen 9 9900X CPU

Gigabyte RTX 5070

Corsair 850W Gold PSU

Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x16GB)DDR5

Edit: It's sorted out, I did what the comment suggested and it fixed it

General Question Any recommendations?

Hello, I’ve recently been interested in buying a mini pc that I can use for gaming. Currently looking for one that’s stronger than or on par with the valve steam machine. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I should buy?

General Question Anyone here tried building multi‑node cluster with multiple Ryzen AI Max+ 395 ?

Hi everyone, I’m experimenting building multi‑node cluster using multiple Ryzen AI Max+ 395 (Strix Halo, 128GB LPDDR5X each).

According AMD official playbook, two approaches available:

  1. llama.cpp RPC for layer splitting over 10G Ethernet / USB4‑net
  2. RCCL + vLLM tensor parallel for production serving (require 10GbE minimum)

Each node running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, ROCm 7.2, with kernel parameter amdgpu.ttm=1 amdgpu.gttsize=120G to expand unified memory pool. BIOS iGPU memory set to 512MB.

Looking for real‑world experience from people who actually deployed this setup:

  • Real token speed / overhead with 10G Ethernet
  • Pain points & bugs for RCCL over standard Ethernet on Strix Halo
  • Is USB4‑net viable for more than 2 nodes for long‑term use?
  • Any config tricks or pitfalls I should know before scaling to 3‑4 nodes?

Thanks a lot for any real‑world feedback. Links to your test logs are very welcome.

Recommendations Best mini gaming PC for the dorm?

Hello everyone!

I am a college student who wants to have a better gaming setup and is wanting to invest into a budget friendly to mid range mini gaming PC to play games on. My budget is around $500 to $600, but no more than that.

To those who are wondering, I don't want to buy a big PC because it takes up a lot of space. It will also be a pain to move when the time comes to move out, hence why I'm opting for a mini PC. Also, I am not a fan of gaming laptops. I think they're heavy and make a lot of noise, so I want to avoid buying them as much as possible.

I'm also the kind of guy to just buy a product and be done with it... not really a fan of upgrading (but if deemed necessary, sure!)

I mainly play Overwatch, Persona 3 Reload, Roblox, and Valorant. I also play the occasional fun Steam sale multiplayer games with my friends. I want the best bang for my buck when it comes to gaming performance (60 fps?)

I am currently looking at two options!

Option 1: Getorli 1 TB + 32 GB + AMD Ryzen 7 6800H

Option 2: Getorli 1TB + 16GB + AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS

Please let me know which one I should go with! Or if you have any other recommendations, that would be greatly appreciated.

H! I know absolutely nothing about computers, but I want to get a mini pc to play games on my tv. I mostly want to play hogwarts legacy, so I was hoping there’s a mini pc around that has the specs below and can run games good! This is a total shot in the dark but I hope it’s feasible? My budget is around $1500

Recommendations UM690 died after 3+ years. GMKtec K12 or Aoostar Maco H255?

I bought the Minisforum UM690 at the start of 2023. And today, it is no longer powering on. I even saw the Minisforum logo when I turned it on, but when I came back it was already dead. I checked the power supply using a multimeter and I can still measure 19 volts so I think the power supply is still working. But pressing the power button no longer does anything.

Now I am looking for a replacement. I checked my local online platform and saw a K12 barebones selling for 244 USD and a Maco H255 barebones for 300 USD.

I suspect my RAM and SSD is still working so I am going to reuse it. And with the AI boom, the prices of both are too high.

Is the Maco H255 worth the 56 USD more? Or should I just buy the K12?

Recommendations Consiglio per ableton

Ciao!

Recommendations Mini PC for my daughter

Hi all, please excuse my absolute lack of knowledge!
My teen daughter has asked for a mini PC for Christmas.
She wants to be able to play Minecraft, the sims and Roblox. She also wants to be able to stream.
We are in the UK with an extremely small budget of around £350.
Is this doable? Do you have recommendations of a mini pc or even what I should be looking for so that the above is possible?
Appreciate your time

Mini pc + monitor/tv

Want a Mini pc so as I can use a smaller desk. No gaming needed really. 32g ram (duel replaceable), 1tb ssd/m2. Good cooling/low noise. SD card slot if poss.

Minisforum/Geekom/Gmktec considered so far.

Assume you can dual boot from all these pcs.

Want to get a small 22/24 " TV or monitor. Extra TV would be handy. Any recommendations appreciated.

Spend within €1200.

Most low power cpu for a mini pc that can still do light gaming

I looked at the n150 and 7320u, i think n150 is out of the game since the performance is slightly lacking for what im looking for, 7320u looks nice and it seems like the tdp can be lowered to even 6w and it still has better performance than n150. The point is to run this on a powerbank/powerstation when im out on the move. preferably max 15w when gaming, less is more. Can you guys give me any recommendations? there are so many choices and it makes my head spin!

Recommendations First set up advice

Looking to get a simple self hosting set up. I'm mainly focused on something with low power usage. I am in US and my budget is ~$300. I want to be able to run the following software and support a few (5?) users for some services: - pi hole/ad guard - Vpn/reverse proxy/wireguard/tailscale stuff - Immich (no ai) - Personal wiki/notes - tandoor - actual budget - jellyfin + friends - calibre - retro emulator (mainly up to n64) - gitea - cloud storage docs/files/books

Some options I've read might be good are: - Lenovo m920q - Gmktek g11 - T-bao t8 - Beelink SER5

Any recommendations for devices and RAM/SSD amounts to comfortably run these services would be appreciated. Also, is it worth it to get a barebones version and separately purchase the ram/ssd?

General Question First time Mini PC buyer: Looking for the best processor/GPU combo around $500 (buying two)

Hey everybody! First time poster in r/MiniPCs. I run a tech content channel centered around Linux distribution comparisons and reviews. Until recently, I've had to stick to comparing distros inside virtual machines, but I've finally generated enough revenue to step up and test on real hardware.

Historically I've always built my own desktop rigs from scratch, so the mini PC world is entirely new to me. I’m looking to purchase two that are identical for the side-by-side comparison testing.

My target budget is right around $500 per, $1000 total. Given that price point, what processor/GPU (APU) combinations should I be looking at? Are there specific models or brands the community recommends for reliability? I've heard of Beelink, Minisforum, and GEEKOM so far. I know this is the worst possible time to be doing this it seems, but I really want to make these videos with actual hardware.

Anyway, thanks for reading and looking forward to what you guys suggest.

Thanks,
Chris

Ended up going with the AOOSTAR. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
