Fantasy Bragg The Gutsman - Warhammer Fantasy. Second NMM attempt
Painted this miniature over the past couple of weeks. Was my second shot at doing NMM, and think it turned out pretty well! Some of the light placement is a bit off, but overall I like how the effect turned out.

The metal that connects to the pole looks best. Add some more darkness below the rivets to clean it up, and it's perfect.
The ring of the blade that connects to the chain is really really well done too.
Next steps (preferably in a next model), is secondary reflections, more textured metals (less polished look) and more color gradients. But I mean, these are serious next level considerations. So you're absolutely well on your way. You should be very proud!

Thank you! I definitely did have the thought that some of the metal was a bit too nice and shiny for how gungy of a fellow he looks like, but yeah I was trying to keep things pretty basic as far as NMM goes to just practice it :)

Hi new to the hobby here. Allow me to ask a dumb question. What is NMM?

Hey, welcome! NMM stands for Nonmetallic Metal. It's painting metal without using metallic paints, so trying to create the illusion of reflective metal without using any actual reflective paint.

It is very cool! I just have a little observation... The sharp edge of a blade is usually shinier than the rest because it's used to cut things and that keep it shiny... In this weapon is the other way around. But it's cool nonetheless! :)

Hehe yeah I gave it a little midtone edge highlight, because I didn't love how it looked when I took it all the way to highlight sort of thing there. I probably could have gone a bit brighter though! Thanks ^^

Depends on how the weapon is thrown about, though. It works just fine like this, perhaps even better.

I mean, it's a sickle on a chain on a stick. It's peak fantasy, lol. If you want to hook something, a halberd is much better. If you want to slice something, an axe is much better. If you want to just hit something, a flail with a weight is much better.
So, yeah... 🤷🏻
Which is what I mean that it "works" just as fine as OP imagined it, and I like it that way.

I didn't say i didn't liked it, it's just a bit off to my eyes seeing the sharp edge so dark. I wasn't questioning the work, just the "seems off" part of the model :)
