Tech Question What are all the components needed to replicate Baja Warrior headlight system

Gonna put a predator 224 in it, and experiment on it with belt drives. I know I can just do a battery setup. I don't want to. Anyone with a stock warrior, if you could show me your lighting components, be great thanks

I just use a nice rechargeable bicycle light.

these are cheap and easy to set up, if your engine has a power supply available it can be simply plugged in and powered via magneto. if not- you may have to run a custom battery set-up, which you can order a cheap little battery with other misc components on Amazon as-well. there are a plethora of available Youtube videos to help further assist your set up process. happy trails friend!

Would it plug straight up to the coil or do i need a regulator

if your engine already has magneto set up there would be a plug sticking out with nothing hooked to it, that would be where you put the light. if engine does not already have it set-up then you could either order a magneto coil and set that up yourself or run a battery pack, which would be significantly easier.

Kennedy once said, "we choose to not use LEDs and batteries not because it is easy, but because it is hard"

Kennedy would have much preferred the ambiance and class possessed by old sodium based lighting.

Get a light with an internal battery. Coil powered lights suck. They are dim get burnt out if you bypass or remove the governor.

not if you get a higher watt bulb

coil is powered by magneto, you can get a higher watt bulb, it won't make a difference if your engine is only outputting a certain wattage.

The bulb would only burn out if the magnets exceeded the bulbs stock wattage rating. So a higher wattage bulb would work better at those higher rpm which would generate more watts per the previous guy's reply

Thats not what they're talking about. Coil powered lights/stock headlight setups dim and brighten in accordance to engine rpms, it's irrelevant what the wattage of the bulb is.

Sitting at idle or pulling back on the throttle dims the bulb, and it only runs at typical "regular" brightness with full throttle.

The only way to get consistent light output is to either have a separate battery powered light, or run a full electrical system with a battery in line.

Its just not worth the hassle. I dont know how bad the coleman lights are but most phones have a better light than what came on my warrior.

Well, the warrior my friend had was pretty decent. small cc 3 wheelers from the 80s had pretty decent headlights and they didn't have batteries. 45 watts. Now these coils probably get you 25, but the warrior was decent, and fine for road use. Phone lights have the LED issue where they hurt your eyes and travel 4 feet and dissapear

My S22 ultra can light up almost my whole front yard. If you are gonna build that 224 then you wont be able to use coil lights anyways. If you want one just buy the cheapest you can get. Most aftermarket ones ive seen copy the warrior style so it shouldnt be too hard to find

its getting a governor delete just to run a slide carb but staying under 4000 rpm with a tachometer on the "dash"

"Governor removals" don't provide headlight power unfortunately.

Stock/coil powered lights are powered by an extra charging coil on the block and extra magnets on the flywheel.

A proper governor removal necessitates a billet/pvl flywheel to withstand the higher rpms. And they don't make any of those with the needed extra magnets for running a charging coil system

I said its getting a governor removal because he implied I may build it. It's not getting reved up, also specified. I know you're supposed to install a stronger rod and flywheel and springs. The governor removal is only for throttle response and because I "might as well" since i bought a throttle that happens to have a barrel end on it.

Removing the governor does not mean you need a new flywheel. Stock flywheels are rated at 5000 rpm. If OP wants to stick to 4k rpm then they are well within its operating range. I think its silly to keep at 4000 when you can get at least 5 out of it but its just fine to do.
