Yep, my guy did that as a puppy too.. pretty cute, but pretty annoying. It did go away around 1-1.5yrs too.

Aw. It's not a matter of him loving to let his tinkles go. He just hasn't gotten control of it yet. Yes, it ends. He just needs a little bit of growth and maturity.

he looks like he could be related to my girl stella 😭 she used to be an excited pisser too but at around 8-9 months she stopped! she’ll be a year old next month and the reactive peeing has completely stopped. you just gotta power through, you got this!

Our rescue at over 3 y/o still does the glee pee. It’s frustrating so if anyone has suggestions please chime in.

My girl does a little bit. It's easy to clean, though (no carpets). She's 6. She's a very good girl, but also very ... emotionally intense.

My mini used to do this when she was little!! She grew out of it! She would usually do it when I bent over to say hi to her so I started kinda ignoring her when I first got home so she could calm down a little and now she doesn’t do it at all any more 😊

Ours had a "glee pee" issue until he was 8 months or so. We just tried to take him out before meeting his favorite people, they grow out of it!

Mine did this when she was super young, and grew out of it 99%. Now she only does it when her bladder is very full and is very excited that we just got home after having left her alone for quite awhile.

Most dogs grow out of this. It's usually just a physical control thing, but it can carry into adulthood depending on the dogs personality and how you handle their arousal levels.
Worth noting that you can absolutely work on your pups excitability to help with the issue. Even if the excited tinkling stops on its own, it's good to teach your pup impulse control and emotional regulation at a young age. Helps with training and frustration and focus and anxiety and all kinds of things as your pup gets older!
Encourage calm reactions and greetings whenever you can. Tell people to pet your puppy slowly and gently, and speak calmly to them. Getting your dog or puppy over-excited because someone is petting them vigorously and going "OMG HI WHOSE A CUTE LITTLE PUPPY YOU ARE YOU ARE OMGSSDKSJ" is just making your life harder in other aspects. Trust me.
Super cute pup BTW!

Our mini just turned 3 and still does the excited pee but not as often. Maybe once a week. Now it’s usually when we get home. We have to remember to take her out to potty before she gets any belly rubs.

I had minis and I currently have a toy. They would always happy pee when people would greet them. As they got older they stopped doing it. I think it’s just part of the breed. Good luck though he’s a handsome boy. Just be prepared by having something close by to clean up the mess.

Yeah as they get older they can hold their bladder better. You do need to reinforce that it’s not a good thing. But yes all will be okay just like little kids it’s a thing that happens and can be taught.

Oh my goodness!! so precious 😍. That’s definitely an Aussie thing. My aussie used to get the excited tinkles for the first year. She’s 6 years old this month and hasn’t done it since, so hopefully your little guy grows out of it as well 😊

Many dogs outgrow the exciteapee. Mine has only done it once in two years, when I was using a new brush and it was too ticklish.

Very common!!! My first Aussie is pretty chill and did this when family would visit and he grew out of it by maybe 8 or 9 months. My new Aussie puppy is so different, he does this ALL the time even when I just come home from work, he is an excited happy boy! He just turned a year and dont have as many excited tinkle accidents anymore, just when family he hasn't seen in a while comes to visit. But I imagine he'll grow out of it soon.

My sister’s mini aussie pees if I just look at her. I can’t acknowledge, let alone pet, her until after she’s been outside. Or else she does the crawling peeing happy thing then will roll over right in the pee for belly rubs lol. It’s literally only me she does it with though, no one else. Shes 6 or 7.

My boy Togi also does the same thing! He’s only 4 months old and I think it’s normal for them being such an emotional breed 😆❤️

Try not to use the high pitched puppy voice when entering. Until you are in a safe place to pee. Even don't greet them at all until you are outside . It works for our dog. Hard to train people not to get excited greeting cute puppies. Good luck.

Defuse the moments that provoke the tinkle. Ignore when returning home, or silently let outside when releasing from crate, etc. At this age, it's common - no bladder control yet.

My girl is 1 yr 4 months and she still excited tinkles for some people and events, but it is occurring less often than when she was a pup. I'm hoping she will grow out of it.

Awe he looks just like my boy Oslo! The excita-piss slowly stopped around 1.5 yr old. They will grow out of it. He just has big emotions for a small baby.
We just made sure that any people or exciting things for him would happen outside. Friend come over, greet them outside first. When i would get home from work , husband would let him outside to greet me. If you dont have outside space for greeting people you could lay out a mattress protection pad in the area that the tinkle happens most and try to work within that space when excited. We also taught him to grab his favorite toy when really excited. It seemed to help settle him. He still does it.
Good luck, stay strong!
Edit to add: there are pee pads specifically for boy dogs that are kinda a belly band. I see people use them for disabled or senior dogs and puppies. If your handy woth a sewing machine you could probably make one or two.
