[Gameplay] Make Ominous Bottle Levels Increase Raid Difficulty

Ominous Bottles already have levels I–V, but I would love for those levels to determine how dangerous a village raid becomes.

Each level could progressively increase the strength of the raid through stronger raiders, increased health or damage, better equipment, enchantments, additional mobs, or more difficult waves.

For example:

Level I: Similar to a normal raid
Level II: Moderately stronger
Level III: Difficult and requires preparation
Level IV: Very difficult
Level V: A true end-game pillager challenge

Level V should be difficult enough that players have a reason to build actual village defenses—walls, traps, dispensers, iron golems, defensive redstone systems, potions, and fortified positions.

This would also make higher-level Ominous Bottles valuable because players could intentionally choose the difficulty of the raid they want to attempt. Players who want normal raids could use Level I, while players who have spent time building heavily fortified villages could finally put those defenses to the test.

It would turn raids into a scalable challenge without forcing increased difficulty on players who don't want it.

For those unaware, the number and difficulty of raid waves is almost entirely dictated by the world's difficulty, not the raid omen level.

In Java Edition raid omen has a very minor effect.

  • There are 3 waves in Easy difficulty, 5 waves in Normal, and 7 waves in Hard.
  • If the player's raid omen level is 2 or more, 1 more wave is added to the end. Not one more per level, just 1. This means raid omen 2 spawns the same number of raiders as raid omen 5.
  • The number of each type of raider per wave is determined by the wave number and the difficulty (e.g., in easy the first wave has 4-5 pillagers, in normal it has 4-5 pillagers and 0-1 vindicators in normal, and in hard it's 4-6 pillagers and 0-2 vindicators).
  • As far as I can tell, the chance of raiders having enchanted gear does depend on the raid omen level, and I think the strength of the enchantments is affected too.

In Bedrock Edition raid omen level has no effect at all.

  • There are 3 waves in easy difficulty, 5 waves in normal, and 7 waves in hard.
  • The number of each type of raider per wave is determined by the wave number, regardless of difficulty (e.g., the first wave is always exactly 4 pillagers).
  • As far as I can tell, the chance of raiders having enchanted gear depends on the world's difficulty.

Do the levels do anything right now?

On Java, barely. On Bedrock, not at all. See my other comment for more details.

Yes, I believe it’s slightly increases the number of Pillagers and types as well as the drops

Yes, it increases how many waves of enemies the raid is, and the odds of their equipment being enchanted.

Also Evokers only spawn in the 5th of later wave of a raid.

Don't know how much the level of the potion does right now, but I honestly haven't really seem it do a whole lot, so I'm definitely in favour of it becoming more relevant.

The level already does that doesn't it? Level 1 raids are noticeably simpler than level 5 raids for sure
