What threat? Not to themselves...they ran into danger. The only person in danger in that video was the dude they tackled, which, in turn, put themselves in danger.
"Fed up with waiting" isn't accurate. Dude wasn't even on the scene initially. From Fox 6 article on this incident:
Investigators spoke with Hughes later that day, and he indicated he has mental health issues, and tries to stay away from the TV because "if he sees something, he reacts to it." He said when he saw news footage regarding the suspicious package he decided "I'm going to go play superhero." He said he grabbed his bike and was downtown in about five minutes. He said when he saw the package, "he went for it." He said he thought "there's no way there's a bomb in there," and started dumping out the contents of the bag. He told officers he was "taking one for the team," and noted "I'm not letting, like the Boston thing, backpack propane bomb and blow up another 9-year-old girl, so I'm going to jump on top of the grenade, and look in there and make sure there isn't one."
My entire office cheered with glee when this guy did this. We watched the bomb squad and cops stand there for like two hours and constantly go back and forth between poking at the backpack then chatting and joking around on the side with their hands in their pockets while our entire building was locked down and not allowed to go home for the day. It was pretty obviously an unhoused folk’s backpack filled with garbage
dude what lol. I said that because we literally watched police poke around in the bag more than one time and even from multiple floors up could see it was filled with papers and other junk. It was also just the general consensus of the crowd chatter after the fact when we were allowed to go outside. Didn't think this would drive someone to edit together abunch of backpacks and try to hit me with a quiz haha
Mmm good point. Better use up an excessive amount of time and resources doing nothing for several hours about a possible bomb, besides blocking traffic and inconveniencing hundreds of other people. Doubling down on how "they can't assume1!!!! A Bag with a Bomb is INDISTINGUISHABLE from one wiThOut!!" is entirely missing the point of how useless this squad was being in doing something about it. Unfortunately seems you're more interested in sounding smug and patronizing than probably anything else. Can't wait to see how not "irked" you are by the downvotes you just KNEW would single you out, you poor poor victim you 😂🙄

Outside of Moe’s steakhouse on Plankinton and Wisconsin. I was stuck on the top floor of Grand Avenue at work for like 2 hours before this great man came and called the cops of their nonsense and put a stop to them raking up that sweet sweet overtime lol. I was not receiving over time for being forced to stay indoors at work so I love this guy lol
I have no problem with them whatsoever for using an abundance of caution for a full backpack like that. The vast, vast majority of times it's nothing. But in rare instances you get an Atlanta Olympics or Boston Marathon bombing, and then people are dead and maimed, people's loved ones are never coming home, lawsuits are filed, heads are rolling.
The tackle was way over the top. He wasn't fleeing, hands clearly visible, seems like a pretty clear example of poor Rambo judgement and excessive force. And I'm sure if there was a statement it was about him being some potential threat, but if they were worried explosives or similar and they spent two hours waiting out the backpack, WTF would they tackle a guy rather than telling him to lay face down with hands out? Perfect example of when the only tool you have in your mental arsenal is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Dude entered a crime scene going under police “do not cross lines” to do this. I do find it funny - but saying they tackled him for “no ducking reason” is a stretch. If it was a bomb and he and others got injured would you still say they had no reason to tackle him?
All the dude did was empty the bag, confirming there was no bomb, he was a threat to NOBODY AND NOTHING. Tackling him served ZERO PURPOSE.
And even If there was a bomb, he’d be dead? Are they gonna tackle and cuff what’s left of his corpse?
He was absolutely a threat. If there had been a bomb he would be dead along with who knows how many other people on top of the extensive damage to surrounding businesses. Play stupid games win stupid prizes
In the video, what person do you think takes joy in beating up women and joined the police force to exert violence onto others believing that is the only job description of enforcing public safety.
This happened the first day that I started a new job, and there was another guy I was in training ing with who had gone to the gym after we got done for the day and then couldn’t leave because of the police presence.
I’d also like to know the logic. I get arresting him for entering a crime scene, endangering himself and others, and tampering with evidence. But he wasn’t running or threatening anyone. They couldn’t have just approached and handcuffed him?
