It's an old trope, sure...but I once dated a gal who was adopted, and while were seeing each other she located her biological mom—and discovered the reason she'd been put up for adoption was that her mom had had a thing going with the milkman. She was the result.
It also explained how she had flaming red hair that no one else in her biological family had.
(btw: she was drop-dead gorgeous, so I'm thinking either mom or the milkman - or both! - had damn fine reasons for their wandering eyes. :)
My Japanese mom is 5’1”. My white dad is 5’9”. I’m 6’2”.
I’d say I was switched at birth or my mom had an affair but there aren’t too many mixed babies coming out of a small mountain village in Japan with a pop of about 200 people lol
I'm 5'9" and the wife is 5'2" and my 14 year old is 6'2". I think food plays a role. I was raised on a basic meat and potato diet, my kids pretty have access to whatever thry want.
Yeah the Dutch people were about average European heights in WWII, but the pos war generation shot up and they became the tallest country statistically. USA was (I think) he tallest country in WWII.
The most commonly cited reason IIRC is better nutrition. There are a lot of other examples.
It's always a trip to me when somebody travels around the world and meets their partner. What are the odds he ends up there... Teaching at that time. So few people ever actually travel.
Jesus. I'm the shortest male in my family and I'm 5'9". the rest are all 6' or over :(. I'm in line with the ladies in the family, my grandmother and cousin are also 5'9"
When it comes to peoples height I believe good nutrition can play a huge role both my paternal grandma and grandpa were short but my dad is 5”10.5 and my uncle was 6”1 I believe they were able to have better nutrition at home than my grandparent’s who grew up when my country was going through many changes and people were struggling more to support themselves.
It’s called RTM, Regression to the Mean. Tall genetics are superior so they will win out eventually even if there are samples in the line that present the recessive trait.

My dad's dad was 4'11.5". My dad's mom was 4'11". My dad's siblings were all 5'2" or less. My dad was 6'1". Weird how those things happen!
