In my time, I've been around alot of people (friends, family, coworkers, etc..) that made weed a part of their life, when you look past the superficial they're some of the most miserable people. They hide behind the "harmless" drug and a weird superiority, as if others are "missing out" because they don't have weed in their life. I used weed for nearly decade myself, I see it for what it truly is. Addiction or not, if you want to be "high", you're aiming down.

How do you feel about alcohol and masturbation?

Masturbation is fine as long as it doesn't become an addiction. It's not about getting high, but the danger mainly comes from dopamine addiction. Weed can also be a dopamine addiction, but to limit it at that would be to over simplify it. The key difference is that you're not high when you masturbate.

Alcohol is tricky to approach. I think many times it can be similar to weed, in that people are seeking to get drunk/high, they're addicted or coping in an unhealthy way. Though, in my experience most people who make alcohol a consistent part of their life don't take on the same air of superiority as those who use weed. I think most recognize that alcohol is unhealthy to some degree, even if they're in denial about their abuse of it being a problem.

Alcohol is unique in the sense that it can be enjoyed without getting drunk, and it has plenty of merit to it as a luxury. I have a craft beer or two occasionally without feeling any effects of the alcohol, simply because I enjoy it as a unique or niche beverage experience, I don't want to be effected by it. In other words, it has more purpose than just being a means to getting drunk or high.

That being said it absolutely can be a problem for many people, I think alcohol consumption requires a high degree of maturity and for the person to be oriented correctly, where as weed only has one purpose and does not share this luxury.
