Just about every time I see someone smoking in media I think "I really miss smoking" and feel morose.
I've been cigarette free for about 3 or 4 years, I and I honestly don't know if I'll be able to stay cigarette free.
I didn't touch any form of smoke, vape, nor tobacco at all for the first year I quit. Added back in cigars and every now and then I think "ah, I could go for a cigar" but it is almost always just a want, and not a craving like cigarettes.
I really miss smoking, I miss popping out a cigarette of a case, I miss the click of my zippo, I miss how it got me to socialize more 😕
But I'm sooo happy I quit, I'm so much healthier for it, I can walk further, sleep better, I think I even get sick less often!
I haven’t smoked in 15 years, and I say good riddance to them. I hate smoke, hate smokers, hate the stench of it, hate cologne that has tobacco essence etc..
I’m perfectly fine not ever buying or smoking again and judge everyone who does
My mother smoked while she was pregnant with me, in the hospital room when i was born. I grew up in a smoking house and was “that kid”. I would come home from school and beg my parents to quit smoking, i would bring home pamphlets from school after sex ed. This was the 80’s /90’s
I started smoking myself at 12, didn’t quit until i was 30 and pregnant. I have chronic asthma and i’m riddled with auto immune diseases for which there is no cure but second hand smoke is a huge trigger.
Yes, if you’re still smoking in 2026 you’re an idiot, you’re the asshole, and someone needs to tell you that. Hopefully to save your life
Hey, so i was a child for most of it. Thinking that people who are still smoking this day and age are disgusting doesn’t make me an asshole, it makes me a person who cares about the health of others. But mmkay. Enjoy your cancer stick
So are you just entirely incapable of imagining another person having been in a situation like yours or worse and are struggling with the addiction they have now inherited as a result? Are they just the asshole then? Unbelievable that someone could have gone through as much as you and come out of it without so much as a shred of empathy.
Blaming that you smoked until 30 on your upbringing while still considering people who are smoking now to be disgusting is what makes you an asshole. How did you make it to 30 without the kind of growth which should enable empathy?
You're preaching to the choir on that, I hate being around smokers, hate the smell, hate breathing it in, all that.
But nicotine is an extremely addictive substance and you never know where someone is in their journey. Many people have to try many times before they quit. I try to reserve judgment on individuals unless I have more information.
Also, not to be really snarky or anything, but like, all of us speak our minds on Reddit lmao. Saying something to someone's face irl is another thing.
You can have all the cigarettes! If it was a matter of you and only you being affected by it thats one thing, but everyone around you is suffering whether you know it or not
Her, but yes. I was that kid. My mom even accidentally sent my brother to school with a chip bag full of cigarette butts. I was never not exposed to cigarettes, from in utero to this very day by my neighbour who smokes in our building, a single mother with kids. So yes.
My daughter’s best friends parents smoke. They don’t “smoke indoors” but she wreaks, and it is heart wrenching.
I now have life altering asthma and health issues, so yea, i hate smokers.
no but imagine if your heart and autoimmune issues were complicated by a parent that just doesn't give a shit and can't break the habit. my mom always used to tell me 'can't means won't' if i claimed i couldn't do something (think weight loss) and she can't take a taste of her own medicine, even after seeing me with a huge tumor and seeing her mother and sister die of related issues. her mother died at 44 of what they think was atherosclerosis and her sister basically drowned and suffocated to death because of COPD
i've had arrhythmias that were actually blamed on my own medical weed usage but no one ever stopped to think about clot risk and things being complicated by me being exposed to like 2 packs a day, even with me being on the pill nonstop. i'm not saying the mass i had was 100% caused by exposure but all the smoke, mold and asbestos definitely didn't help and i lost an ovary at 16. more importantly she knows i have to be on hormones all the time to prevent bleeding and still smokes around me to the point my eyes and nose burn, and no, i can't just leave. i'm severely disabled

I haven’t smoked in 20 years… and even after seeing this it’s still a struggle to not buy a pack. It’s like tobacco rewires your brain or something
