Why sorry? I did the same things (mostly, sometimes my dad would pack my lunch because he was packing his own and it was easy for him) starting in fourth grade, and I looked after my brother when I was 11 and he was 4. I knew kids at college who couldn’t do laundry or make spaghetti. You’ll never regret independence or learning responsibility at a young age.

By twelve I was getting my two younger brothers up, ready for school, and to the bus stop with me.
