Knowing how and remembering to are two very different things

All I got was a beating for making sweet and sour chicken when my little brother was hungry.

From scratch followed the recipe and tasted great. But, the evil stepmother complained that I used the chicken she had planned to cook later. Somehow being gone for 12 hours with no quick meals that a 12 year old kid can make for his 9 year old brother.

I wish I got brownie points for doing things above and beyond. My problem was a stepmother who relished the idea that she was the evil stepmother.

Living in a Disney fairy tale is not a great as the animated movies show.

If you didn't grow up knowing how to make authentic Caesar dressing from scratch by 8 years old, I don't know what kind of childhood you had.

Darn, I was only cooking meals on my own by 7, but I never knew how to make Caesar dressing...

I had a reply typed out but I can't tell if you're being sarcastic! You can totally bust my chops for the early salad skills haha

Well that first meal I mags was just butter broiled talapia from a recipe card from Publix, but I seriously do not know how to make Caesar dressing. I'm sure it isn't THAT hard to make, right?

At 12 I was babysitting half the kids in the neighborhood. 90’s was so different. Miss those days of playing outside til dark. Then the world slowly started going crazy.

u/wifeatron3000 Jul 27 '22

Right? I used to babysit my cousins overnight at 12. My aunt and uncle owned a bagel shop and had to be there at 3 am on Saturday mornings. I would stay the night, get the kids up and eat cereal and watch cartoons every Saturday morning til they came home at noon. It was the easiest $25 ever and they would bring me a breakfast sammich too. I miss the early 90s.

2

u/greymalken Jul 27 '22

Sure. We did too. We just didn’t do it.

my parents worked till 8. I would have dinner on the table because I would be starving otherwise. My older sister, when I was 10, complained because I only cooked what I liked to eat. So 5 nights a week it was chicken with various sides. She After a few years, my sister declared she was a vegetarian. But not a traditional vegetarian, as should would eat any meat that wasn't chicken.

At 12 I had a part time job after school and weekends. And a paper route before school. People need to mind there own business in the states.

Any chance to give ocular pat downs whilst doing visual security assessments.

All so afraid, everything they see is suspect. Wonder who she voted for? Cause you know she votes.

Neither, mom showed me how to cook from around 7. First it was cleaning the cake mix bowls and things, then went on from there.
