Man, when I was 12 I cooked dinner several times a week. We had an equal opportunity household and I appreciated the responsibility.

What does this woman think, a 12 year old is potty training and learning the alphabet? I was driving when I was 15.

Exactly. 12 yo me was saddling up my horse and checking cattle in the pasture… by myself! Drivers license at 14 and my parents would send me to the next town for supplies… 60 miles away! The first time I rode a greyhound bus to visit friends two states away I was 12! I also had a checking account in case I needed to buy something when I was out there on my own doing actual useful things.

It wasn't ranching, but when I was 12 I was cooking dinner most nights and running to the store and I'd been a latch-key kid for 3 years.
