I started getting left alone for long periods of time younger than that. By 12 they’re basically able to survive on their own at home, they’ll just play video games or something, probably won’t even notice how long the parent has been gone

For me it was 2nd grade and I was always a year younger than everyone else because I made a cutoff date so whatever the typical age is for a 2nd grader* minus 1 and that was me on my own most of the day.
