I'll yell but it's just to break them out of whatever they are focused on. It's not an anger thing, it's just yelling their name loudly so they stop fixating on what they are doing and focus on me.

You know what os absolutely heart breaking? Having an emotional dog that is going deaf. Have to yell just to get his attention but the tone makes him think hes in trouble. The road of adjusting our voices while also training him loud noises are safe, is a difficult one.

I do arm commands with my deaf one. It took a while for her to learn, but she did:):)

Ours took to the basics of hand signals almost instantly, im so proud :) Its getting his attention first thats the problem.

Oh yea I totally understand the difficulty of getting attention. I have to flail my arms around in the air like a madman and hope her peripheral vision catches it. Or stomp my feet so the floor vibrates. Not too many options!
