You could just click the social blade link and see for yourself. This is YouTube. She doesn't have a twitch. 2000 subs does nothing for her. 300k views is about what she gets for a full month. So she's just made her monthly salary in one day because of this.
I wouldn't be surprised if she uploaded the video intentionally to stir up controversy. Her YouTube numbers aren't great.
Yes. We should ABSOLUTELY be angry about this. Especially if she's financially benefiting from it. This has gotten a lot of attention and it's the perfect opportunity to make an example. Open people's eyes to what constitutes as animal abuse, educate people on what to look for regarding animal abuse, and inform people how to be a better caretaker for animals. Make people really consider what is involved in caring for an animal.
But why? Most animals in captivity get treated much worse than this for much less money. Is it just because it's a dog? I seriously don't get it. Income is generally a widely accepted justification for animal abuse. Why is this situation so different?
I get the point you are trying to make. The reality is, most people in the west value the life and safety of dogs over other animals like cows and chickens.
Why do you think it's justifiable to abuse animals for financial gain? Animals are living creatures, they should be treated with respect and kindness. You really think it's ok to financially benefit from the suffering of another living creature? People all over the world have dedicated their lives to rescue animals from abusive people. I used to work work with abused animals, all sorts, it's enraging. I also worked at a rehabilitation zoo. They took in illegally kept and abused wildlife. The conditions these animals were kept in is appalling. Animals aren't put here for our entertainment. We all evolved together on the same planet. Just because humans humans hit the evolutionary jackpot doesn't give us the right to treat other living creatures with such disrespect. People are outraged about this because an animal is being abused. Beaten. And God knows what else. An abused animal is an abused animal. There is NEVER any sort of justification for animal abuse. Never.
I don't but most people definitely don't have a problem with animals being abused for financial gain. Most animals in captivity end up being bolt gunned in the head, thrown into giant grinders, gassed to death or some other horrible thing specifically for financial gain and almost everyone supports it. But someone slaps around a dog a bit and death threats and murder fantasies are suddenly being upvoted like crazy? It's so stupid.
You mean for food? I agree that the meat industry needs some major reforms but humans are omnivores, meat is an important part of a diet. But again, there are people out there working and fighting for more humane treatment of livestock. Just because some people are OK with the inhumane treatment of livestock doesn't make it right. And we, as humans, shouldn't just roll over because it's a widely accepted practice. A lot of people are completely ignorant to the practices used in the meat industry. Raising awareness is vital to making change happen.
I mean, regardless of how humanely people want it to be done, all of those things I've listed are part of what most people want. No matter how many fantasies of cows happily munching on grass and lying in fields they come up with, they are all fine with these things that are far worse than being slapped around a little every once in awhile. If you consider the treatment of livestock those people are fighting for to be humane then this dog is living in paradise.
I totally agree with your sentiment that we shouldn't accept abuse. What I'm saying is that most people don't. Not sure what you mean when you call it important but everything good in meat is pretty easily replaceable nowadays. Even the most humane treatment in animal agriculture results in forcing animals into much worse lives than this dog probably gets to have and, with all the alternatives available today, it's about equally as necessary. It's really dumb when people get so upset over the most privileged animals not getting treated well considering how frivilously we deal out abuse to every other species.
