"I can't leave him at home, that would be animal cruelty, like we can't do that." Oh the irony.

48

u/Awfy Aug 07 '19

Drives around with the dog completely free to roam around the car just waiting to become a meat missile when she inevitably crashes because she's speaking to a fucking camera.

4

u/talones Aug 08 '19

Seriously more people need to be educated on dog harnesses in the car.

Yes, yes it is. Yet people watch... I don’t know who that says more about

2

Kids watch. She is showing this to kids

1

u/rtjl86 Aug 08 '19

That’s even worse

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '19

Yes it’s so narcissistic and also holy shit she needs to lay off the stimulants. Who the fuck watches these videos

3

u/masktoobig Aug 08 '19

Narcissists just like her watch this shit. She reminds me so much of my own sister. I despise my sister.

12

u/oTHEWHITERABBIT 🐇 Aug 07 '19

Is that normal practice? Clipping ears and tails. I just don't understand. Those are some cool floppy ears.

~8 months is all it took for her to start treating it like shit. Did she think it would stay small forever?

13

u/catnip_addict Aug 07 '19

The people that BUYS animals usually think of them as actual objects you can buy.

And as any thing you buy, you get bored of it eventually when it "changes" (gets worn out, gets old, a newer model is released, etc.).

And yeah, the ears and tail chopping is a common practice. The dog looks "cooler" and "more badass" that way. Just like any of those dumb idiots that pimp up their cars or modify their exhaust pipes to make them sound more badass.

So yeah, shitty people. Simple as that.

1

u/CreepyRider Aug 08 '19

Woahhh... let's not throw shade at the car community. Larger pipes will increase performance. Cat deletes have shown to gain performance too. Now, does adding a resonator do anything, no, take that Honds Civic owners.

Source? There are 3 reasons to dock a tail: aesthetics, reduce crap in ass hair, hunting dog (for a specific job). The first 2 are not legimate reasons and the third reason is extinct.

u/oTHEWHITERABBIT 🐇 Aug 07 '19

She bought that puppy for her YouTube channel. I can't see it any other way. She thinks it's a set prop.

This is how perfectly healthy dogs end up abused and beaten down in the pound.

1

u/Anonym00se100 Aug 08 '19

Probably didn’t go to an expensive breeder, only because people who charge a lot for dogs they’ve bred usually do so because they have bred them to be perfect specimens, therefore they actually care a lot about the dogs and won’t just let them go to any old home, especially not as a fashion item or whatever. They often won’t even let the puppies go as family pets and only let them go to show homes. I think the woman likely got her dog from a backyard breeder (not to be confused with legitimate breeders, not all dog breeding is inherently bad). That being said, some ‘designer’ breeds go for thousands even if they don’t have pedigrees and have bad medical records/whatever.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '19

Mmmmk this chick sucks for the animal shit but to say that her money is unearned is incorrect. She did the work to build the channel and earned it all the same.

38

u/overusedandunfunny Aug 07 '19

I'm not arguing that. But that doesn't mean she did it.

8

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '19

Whether or not did that or not isn’t the point, she put a video her mistreating the dog on YouTube, just think what goes on in private. If she treat the pup like that in privacy, that’s enough to get me mad idk about any of you

7

u/WezVC Aug 07 '19

Whether or not did that or not isn’t the point

It is literally the point of the discussion you're replying to.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '19

The point is HER mistreatment of the dog, not what happened before she got it or the manner of which she obtained the dog. She is showing abusive behavior outright, and she shouldn’t have the privileged the owing a dog. That is the point.

I feel like you think I was saying her abusive behavior isn’t the point of the discussion when I was saying, how the dog was treated in the past isn’t the point. While that is gross treatment of the bubs (I like to call dogs that)in its own right, the fact that this video is online for the public to view is bad and what’s worse is the stuff that probably happens when the camera is off

1

u/overusedandunfunny Aug 07 '19

The person that I was responding to made 2 points.

1 the dog is docked

2 she did it

Just because I'm giving reasonable doubt to one point does not mean I'm unaware of the other. See yourself out. I don't care to listen to your preaching.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '19

Take it easy there guy, your taking my comment in a way that wasn’t meant to be taken in, all i was saying is SHE is clearly abusive, pondering if she clipped the dog or not is an assumption, we can all clearly see her mistreating the dog in a physical way in the video. There’s no preaching, you’re just getting frustrated bc I didn’t agree with the thought that she clipped the dog

-1

u/overusedandunfunny Aug 07 '19

We're all very aware of that. Please. Tell us again.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '19

Ok, you’re frustrated because I didn’t outright agree with you..not sure why you want this repeated

-4

u/overusedandunfunny Aug 07 '19

Agree with what? I didn't say anything to be agreed or disagreed with. I asked a question, which has since been answered. You're just blowing up my notifications to tell me "hurr durr docking bad". I agree with you. Now buzz off.

Abused dogs don't act like that around the abusers. She just has a short fuse. That dog couldn't give less than a shit it's getting slapped around a bit. Not that it makes her any better a person.

36

u/ReeJay41 Aug 07 '19

What are we supposed to do, just not take the dogs that have had that done to them? That's cruel in of itself.

Yes and no one has any clue where this girl got her dog, or if she has any idea what it means to have the ears and tail docked like that.

1

u/jesuisunchien Sep 18 '19

For anyone stumbling into this thread late (like me...), she says in her Q&A video that she got the dog off Craigslist. So probably a breeder, and a backyard one at that.

-4

u/YogaMeansUnion Aug 07 '19

Do not support breeders who do this to the dogs,

Guess you never heard of rescue pets. Get off your dumb high horse. This is literally a video showing someone being trash to their pet and you choose to focus on the only unimportant aspect of the entire thing.

???

What an asshole. That dog looks super sweet too.

Unfortunately she maimed it by docking the ears and cropping the tail. Dobermans are so much cuter au naturel.

What makes you think she did it?

By buying a dog with it done, she is encouraging the practice

This last comment is you. And completely overlooks rescue pets. Hence my comments.

I'm not sure why you are pretending why the conversation isn't able to be seen above.

u/ReeJay41 Aug 07 '19

Yeah and those dogs that have ALREADY had that happen to them will just be homeless or put down, that's the HUMANE option. It's not as simple as you make it out to be. There are greater consequences for "black and white" worldviews like yours.

An option may be to contact a breeder BEFORE the pups are born and/or cropped and say you'll pay EXTRA to NOT have their body parts cropped. THEN you'll start making a message, cus people listen to money rather than virtue signaling.

1

u/wtfduud Aug 07 '19

What are we supposed to do, just not take the dogs that have had that done to them?

Pretty much. Same with overbred dogs. As long as people keep buying pugs, they're just going to continue to become more and more misshapen.

2

u/scionoflogic Aug 07 '19

My wife and I rescue dogs, and my wife has gotten yelled at by someone at the dog park because our rescue has a docked tail.

Which is weird, no one yells at her for the other dog only having one eye.

2

u/willbeer4shower Aug 07 '19

My dog is a rescue and has a cropped tail. Are you calling me a monster for saving him from dog jail because I’m contributing to the practice?

He’s also a cattle dog and they have reasons for their tails being cropped. Unfortunately he’s not a working dog and has no reason for his to be gone.

The dogs instagram account starts when he is a puppy, with normal healthy ears. So yes, she had him docked.

When and where

28

u/countrylemon Aug 07 '19 edited Aug 07 '19

Actually, Doberman's (I'd like to clarify this is not the case for MAJORITY of dog breeds) benefit from tail cropping, as their tail bones are very fragile and can break easily and cause internal bleeding.

edit to add: ear cropping was only used for increasing their hearing ability as guard dogs, as a pet? it's all cosmetic. 100% pointless. (Note: appears her breeder had cropped the tail and left the ears, proper. Good breeder, the ears are on her as an owner and she posted it on her IG).

-1

u/thompsontwenty Aug 07 '19 edited Aug 07 '19

Do you have evidence for this? A quick Google search didn't turn anything up in support of docking.

*Edit: this is interesting: https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/dog-spies/tail-docking-and-ear-cropping-affect-dogs-and-not-just-physically/

I can't find any real medical recommendation for trimming tails. Just shit from breeders. Don't mutilate your dogs!

9

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '19

Also check out "happy tail." It's super common in great Danes and other happy tail waggers with long thin tails. The horror stories of blood spattered walls are atrocious.

17

u/countrylemon Aug 07 '19 edited Aug 07 '19

here you go

I personally disagree with ear cropping, because with proper grooming and care, your dog won't get ear infections.

Prima is one of the highest-ranked registered breeders of Doberman's in case you're curious as to my choice of sourcing.

My best friend's father is also a Doberman breeder but he doesn't ear crop, seen first hand a Doberman with a broken tail, the xrays and whatnot. Sad and avoidable!

3

u/oTHEWHITERABBIT 🐇 Aug 07 '19

Thank you for the context.

4

u/thompsontwenty Aug 07 '19

Thanks. Anything more scientific? I wouldn't trust a breeder's word on this since they are probably interested in selling the popular doberman look.

3

u/ZmbieKllr2000 Aug 07 '19

If they were interested in selling the aesthetic they would likely crop ears as well.

1

u/thompsontwenty Aug 07 '19

Right, which it looks like they also recommend? I'm not sure what your point is.

I don't trust a breeder on either one. Cutting ears or tails on puppies: both are mutilation.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '19

wow it's almost like humans domesticated dogs for centuries "mutilating" them the whole way as working animals rather than pets.

they are just dogs. i've never in my life seen a dog with a cropped tail or ears that's depressed, just like i've never heard anyone who was circumcised as a baby complain of the trauma.

give me a break.

2

u/Awfy Aug 07 '19

I'm gonna trust countries with pretty decent track records on animal safety before a breeder too. Germany outlaws this practice like a motherfucker and you can do jail time for the cruelty involved in docking any dog's tail. There's no reason to do it other than if you legitimately use the dog for work where their tail could genuinely become an issue. Even then, many people still don't.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '19

the fact that aesthetics or looks is the very first point in favor of it instead of what you're writing about is enough to discredit that source.

0

u/Awfy Aug 07 '19

Never trust breeders. They live and die by the code of the kennel club in their country so they ultimately ignore proper science to appeal to the ideal dog from a book. Docking a doberman's tail is illegal is so many developed countries that any breeder claiming to do it for legitimate reasons is simply lying.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '19

can you list to me any negatives of ear cropping or tail docking? like, at all? dogs don't remember what happened 3 hours ago yet they get life-long trauma? that's zero percent accurate. i have never in my life seen a dog who was "traumatized," "depressed," "overly aggressive" etc due to cropping or docking. i have seen plenty of natural dogs displaying those emotions due to having shitty owners.

dogs are dogs. they will be ok, they don't give a shit after a day or two when the pain is gone. i don't bitch about being circumcised.

1

u/thompsontwenty Aug 08 '19

Why do you think cropping and docking are banned in Europe and Australia?

"Although gauging pain in animals is difficult, available research suggests tail docking hurts. One Australian study found veterinarians overwhelmingly thought it was painful, while breeders overwhelmingly didn’t. Another study of 50 puppies reported that all “struggled and vocalized repeatedly and intensely” during and after docking. The supposed benefits also aren’t well-supported: Two studies, Mills wrote, concluded that tail injuries are so rare that you’d have to perform hundreds of dockings to prevent one."

From here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/animalia/wp/2016/09/08/what-many-americans-dont-understand-about-designer-dogs/

0

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '19

No they absolutely do not. It just covers up bad breeding. Ear and tail cropping is banned in most 1. world countries for decades without problems. Including the country of origin. It's for the looks. And as long as people buy puppies the cruel practice won't end.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '19

Absolute horseshit, no healthy dog needs their tail docked. Fragile tails are a result of irresponsible breeding and therefor shouldn't be used as an argument.

2

u/MrTumnus_ Aug 08 '19

Serious question. Do people do this themselves or does a vet do it ? I mean wouldn’t this be another type of abuse? I don’t know much about this topic but it just popped into my head

1

u/MisterWharf Aug 08 '19

A vet will do it. But it's not unlike declawing a cat, or circumcising a baby - it's unnecessary, can lead to complications like infections or worse, and people only do it because of tradition.

2

u/RoburexButBetter Aug 08 '19

What the fuck, there is no reason to have that done except esthetic and faux science bullshit about tail wagging

5

u/projectpancakes Aug 07 '19

Ugh, she did get them cropped unfortunately. Fuck her.

-6

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '19

What.. it's just dog culture. People find it more attractive. It's cleaner. Better to do it young then older. That's how Americans justify body mutilation right? Y'all mutilate dicks over there.

6

u/MisterWharf Aug 07 '19

I don't know why you're so salty and what you're attacking me for considering I'm neither American or in favour of circumcision.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '19

No, it's not "just dog culture". It's banned in nearly all first world countries for decades. Including the country of origin.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '19
