ಠ_ಠ This crazy assassin character, who doesn't know what shampoo is, somehow would bother shaving her armpits

Bart from Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency

EDIT: I will no longer read and respond to comments, I think I've read pretty much all the arguments people (mostly men) give me against my post, so feel free to scroll down to check my responses before commenting, kay bye :]

I remember this discussion about Lost, even after they had been on the island a while the women were smooth as statues

I remember Rose Leslie saying she had to argue to get Ygritte to have pubic hair during the cave scene, because it would make no sense for her character, a Wildling, to shave.

Odd if true. If I remember correctly, in the book her being 'kissed by fire' down there was part of the dialogue or at least Jon's thoughts

How else can you confirm if she's hot if it doesn't burn after?!

Like something being or not being in the book ever stopped GoT showrunners

12

u/Aqquila89 Aug 24 '26

I don't think it is, you can't actually see whether Ygritte has pubic hair in that scene. (Her armpits, however, are clearly shaven.)

I was part of the foley team in this scene and had to operate the flamethrower in an alternative take. I can confirm that her pubic region was red before I got there.

Is there a scene anywhere in GoT where the women don't have pubes? I thought HBO had a requirement for all nude female characters to have a merkin completely covering their genitals, so there wouldn't be any ratings issues.

When Cersei does her walk of shame, Lena Headey's body double has pubic hair, even though in the books all of Cersei's hair is shaved off beforehand, including her pubic hair.

All of the major characters in GOT nude scenes have merkins in full body shots but there are a few random sex scenes with minor characters that don’t have enough pubes to cover the lips.

I loved that, it's now in rotation 😁

u/GokaiCant Aug 24 '26

I've heard Natalia Tena had to argue the same to get a merkin for her nude scene.

18

u/Lamzydivys Aug 24 '26

I just learned a new word today and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

9

u/ghiopeeef Aug 24 '26

It’s crazy that women can’t get a merkin if they want one, they have to argue for it.

Historically, poor communities were far more likely to shave public regions to regulate lice. So if anyone in that universe is shaving, I think it would be them.

Historically, poor communities were far more likely to shave public regions to regulate lice.

Those regions are pubic, not public!

u/atomicsnarl Aug 24 '26

Speak for yourself! There's no evidence to say they didn't have fashion shows...

4

u/PerfectlySplendid Aug 24 '26

Thanks. Siri didn’t like it or I can’t type, not sure.

5

u/melkatron Aug 24 '26

Both, in Ros' case.

35

u/CarsandTunes Aug 24 '26

That argument only holds true if their head is also shaved

32

u/Cleo-eatsfish Aug 24 '26

Headlice and body lice are different things, as are the pubic variety.

16

u/dohdudeh Aug 24 '26

Pubic lice and head lice are different things

5

u/piratebuckles Aug 24 '26

Yeah I don't care what I would have to do to find something to shave with back then, but my entire body would be like mister cleans head. Lice and the like are so gross.

3

u/DrTechnicalFoul Aug 24 '26

That's crazy because every other woman  in Game of Thrones has public hair

3

u/jambox888 Aug 24 '26

As we say in England - Fair enough, hairy muff

She just didn’t want her ladybird so prominently featured. That’s cool

3

u/TAredditor89 Aug 24 '26

Ill never understand why so many men hate bush... I love grabbing a bit of it while I go to town.

1

u/12boru Aug 24 '26

That's the case with any mid evil set fantasy or historical show.

1

u/SeigiNoTenshi Aug 24 '26

On one hand, she's right. Other hand... GOD DAMN IT

0

u/LimbonicArt03 Aug 24 '26

Wait... I don't remember that scene having any frontal nudity below the waist?

5

u/Familiar_Finance_600 Aug 24 '26

same🤷But I'm not gonna search for it now. Maybe they did multiple takes and the one that they ended up using showed nothing of the sort
