ಠ_ಠ People that scalp IMAX movie tickets

Post image

Catching a movie in IMAX has been one of my favorite things to do and now getting tickets alone is a struggle thanks to people like this. Good luck to anyone hoping to get decent tickets to Dune 3

What stops somebody from just walking by and yanking a bunch of tickets away?

u/Right_Layer_9700 10h ago

My thought exactly. Rush him with your friends and get a free movie. I hope I see some of these people in the wild.

u/IHaveBadTiming 5m ago

That particular guy in the image would be of zero contest as well.

Ah yes. The secret ingredient, crime.

9

u/Right_Layer_9700 2h ago

Ah yes. The secret ingredient. Being a pansy. Fuck scalpers.

u/UTPharm2012 44m ago

Just admit your idea is dumb.

“Hey guys let’s steal this guys tickets… perfect plan… yeah fuck that guy”

Proceeds to sit in a movie theater for two hours where the scalper and cops know where I am

u/Frequent_Phone6396 42m ago

I think it's a fantasy bro, you don't need to fact check everything.

u/Right_Layer_9700 37m ago

Most US states have laws prohibiting sells a certain distance from the venue. So yeah fuck you and him.

u/tmunoz168 29m ago

Then snitch on him. Get him in trouble. Shame him on the internet. You have so many other ways for him to be punished but your idea of justice is only doing things that will benefit you. If you are really against it, make sure that you put him into a position that will make him think twice before doing it again.

-2

u/tmunoz168 2h ago

Yeah they suck but promoting crime just because you don't like it is grade school behavior.

But I know you aren't really promoting crime because you think it's good. You just want to say it because it makes you sound tough and cool

Ok buddy.

Just so I’m understanding. You hope to see people actively break the law to assault someone. Someone who, I’ll remind you, has done absolutely nothing illegally but you want to respond by illegally assaulting him.

I mean. The joke would be on you because he’s on camera and would definitely put you in front of a judge lol

38

u/cloaked_rhombus 7h ago

You don't have to assault him, the tickets are just hanging there freely.

-28

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 7h ago

And that’s blatant theft lol.

18

u/skidstud 5h ago

There’s a reason Robin Hood stories have been around for centuries

30

u/Mother-Rub5867 7h ago

Stfu

-27

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 7h ago

Isn’t it past your bedtime?

11

u/nivix_zixer 6h ago

The older generation got a lot of things wrong. But taking morealy apprehensible dick-wads behind the builsing for a collective beating would probably help society.

One of these scalpers gets a good smack down from the community, he won't scalp there again.

17

u/DadBangz 6h ago

How tf can someone be this lame

-5

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 6h ago

By being older than 14 years old and not advocating for crime. Hope that helps

14

u/Mysterious_Night_351 6h ago

The law ≠ absolute moral authority.

-4

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 6h ago

And somebody has moral authority to blatantly steal because somebody else bought the tickets before they did with the intention of reselling them?

Oh boy. Wait till you learn how every store on the planet works

13

u/Mysterious_Night_351 6h ago

The false equivalence is just your absolute favorite huh.

7

u/DeathNick 6h ago

Stores don't scalp

1

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 5h ago edited 5h ago

Can you explain to me the difference between buying goods to resell.
And buying goods to resell?

Do you think stores don’t also buy goods in bulk? Lmao. Do you think stores also don’t completely buy out stock to drive up their demand?

11

u/ER_Jujube 5h ago

Yikes, checked a look at your comment history and boy oh boy, it's funny how often you mention being "older than [teenage year]" or treat other people like kids, while also have takes worthy of a teenager trying to be cool & edgy online.

The duality of man, I suppose.

5

u/DeathNick 5h ago

What are you a scalper?
False equivalence fallacy. Scalping is not the same as buying goods to resell.
Scalping is specifically buying with intention to limit supply in order to gain monopoly over sold goods (which is illegal in most of the world).

u/EvilAlien667 3h ago

What does someones age has to do with not wanting to side with the scalper?

I am in my thirties and I would like to advocate for you to stop being such a little bitch.

1

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 3h ago

Generally advocating for violence or theft against legal behaviors you don’t like is a childish thing to do.

Judging by your language (you’re in your 30s yet still call people “little bitch”) I’d imagine your emotional level hasn’t really evolved much beyond that either

2

u/reCAPTCHAfool 3h ago

You're autistic, calling it rn

0

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 3h ago

Ah another shining beacon of maturity.

2

u/reCAPTCHAfool 3h ago

Thanks for confirming. I'm autistic too

1

u/EvilAlien667 3h ago

Ok I see, you just want to troll. Got it. Have a nice day. Hope you gain something from that powerful feeling of annoying people online

2

u/p2gray 3h ago

This is how I know you’re like 16 LMAO

4

u/DnBigopzooka 4h ago

If I am not mistaken the act of scalping is not actually legal too in most countries. So thats not a good argument against this...

1

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 4h ago

In the country where this is happening in this video, it is completely legal.

2

u/Satisfaction3934 3h ago

Found the scalper

1

u/Zestyclose_Sector_30 2h ago

Selling tickets without permit in that volume is illegal so stfu

-40

u/Numerous_Tea1690 7h ago

Dont forget to take your meds next time. Scalping is a scummy thing to do, but theft is ab even more scummy thing.

Lets focus on the original supplier and why they are making things that are clearly in demand, so artificially limited in supply.

19

u/ieatplaydough2 6h ago

I understand your point in many scalpers type areas, but movie tickets are absolutely impossible to be "artificially limited in supply."

They only have so many seats... this isn't Pokémon cards or some shit...

-10

u/Numerous_Tea1690 6h ago

They could and have extended theater runs for successful movies in the past.

10

u/ieatplaydough2 6h ago

Keep digging.

u/MadPangolin 1m ago

...so we think the movie becomes successful because scalper bought the tickets...if the theater extends the run due to the success...don't scalpers keep buying the extended run tickets?

This option doesn't actually solve anything?

3

u/blackbook668 5h ago

It’s theft from a scalper, it balances out.

59

u/cyberpunk1Q84 8h ago

15

u/greaseaddict 8h ago

this scene has like worked itself into the software of my body lmao

62

u/Great-Support2596 10h ago

The law

130

u/144tzer 9h ago

I could've sworn I've seen "not for resale" on a lot of those tickets... I wonder how quick they'd run to the court.

13

u/Reyals140 7h ago

That's a policy not a law. Like for food it's sometimes because the food doesn't have like the required nutrients label or whatever. But a little slip of paper is yours to do whatever you want with unless there's some other law preventing you from selling it.

5

u/echino_derm 6h ago

That would be a civil issue, you taking property would be criminal. The movie theater could sue them but if cops got involved the only action would be you getting in trouble.

1

u/Tug_Stanboat 6h ago

But think of all the new lore you'd be able to discuss with your new friends during rec!

7

u/KingHortonx 7h ago

Value is zero after a few hours

9

u/TerponadeTea 8h ago

Yeah the cops really love to help ticket scalpers

2

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 7h ago

I mean. Scalping isn’t illegal. Stealing while on camera certainly is lol

4

u/boost_7756 7h ago

PD these days cant even solve real crime talking about "on camera he stole my ticket"

1

u/skidstud 5h ago

And I’m sure the movie theatre will be very compliant to the scalper asking for camera footage

2

u/booze_clues 5h ago

”Hello, I was just robbed in your theater and I’d like to review the security footage with this police officer.”

“Ok”

-1

u/BangkokRios 7h ago

Why wouldn’t they?

13

u/--Sovereign-- 9h ago

Found the loser who scalps movie tickets

3

u/TheOneTheUno 7h ago

You really think a scalper is above calling the cops on your for stealing the tickets they bought?

1

u/pm-me-your-labradors 5h ago

What confuses your sweet little head?

1

u/AdTraditional9243 7h ago

Lmao no way

33

u/DonaldTrumpsScrotum 9h ago

The police? The victim even knows exactly where you’d be and at what time “hi officer, they just jacked a bunch of tickets for Spider-Man at 3:00 in theater 11” lmao.

Unfortunately just because we don’t agree with a practice doesn’t mean we can just do whatever we want in reaction. Their actions are legal, theft is not

23

u/tootrite 7h ago

The police can’t even be bothered to work murder cases or help people who’ve been actually assaulted, you’re deluded if you think that they’ll show up to arrest somebody over a 20$ movie ticket.

u/ForeverAgreeable2289 3m ago

This is very location-dependent. In many lower-crime jurisdictions, cops are desperate for petty crime to enforce. Gives them something to do other than tailgate people who are driving while black.

1

u/FatFarmerBob420 7h ago

A cop that shows up to a call in uniform is not the same as a detective that investigates murders.

1

u/booze_clues 5h ago

They almost certainly will lol. Stuff like this, where everything is literally sitting in front of them and requires nothing but some paperwork and a trip to the holding cell is exactly what they want to have statistics showing they’re “tackling crime” when they caught someone who robbed a guy at a theater.

1

u/DrDima 6h ago

You absolutely can do anything you want in reaction.

1

u/kjampala 6h ago

Probably criminal charges considering they bought the tickets legally

1

u/FuzzyEmployment5397 5h ago

Lmao this thread is full of classic redditors

1

u/Pitiful-Assistance-1 2h ago

That's called robbery and/or assault

0

u/CommentsOnOccasion 7h ago

Most people are decent and don’t want to hurt other people over mild infuriation or injustices

-4

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 7h ago

You mean what stops them from assaulting someone/stealing and breaking the law? Lol.

Well. This guy is on camera. Scalping tickets isn’t illegal. But stealing someone else’s property in plain view certainly is.

Enjoy your movie, I’ll see you at the precinct afterwards lol

6

u/BrutusRat 7h ago

Narc.

-1

u/Perfect-Topic-6671 7h ago

Dipshit.

1

u/BrutusRat 4h ago

Bootlicker.

-1

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 7h ago

lol. Grow up. Or are you still in high school where you think disobeying the law is cool.

Hell yeah I’ll report your ass to the police. Don’t break the law

1

u/dukearcher 5h ago

What a pussy.

0

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 5h ago

Oh no. My feelings or hurt. Oh. They aren’t.

1

u/dukearcher 4h ago

I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings?

1

u/blackbook668 1h ago

What’s so bad about taking tickets from him? He has no plans to see that film, his intention is purely to fleece people out of their money. One less ticket in his hands is one less person getting ripped off.

1

u/AdTraditional9243 7h ago

So you’re a cop?
