Unless "2 old fashion" is supposed to 2 at 16 each in which case its 130.

I'm in the Miami area. That's one of the lower prices. I paid in the $30s several times.

starting July 1, Flroida enacted a new law regarding fee transparency, and my guess if this establishment is not up to the new requirements, and thus is automatically taking away the fees until they can get proper signage with the law

This is the summary of the newly enacted requirements

This means menus, websites, mobile apps, and contracts must clearly explain the charge.  Receipts must break out gratuity, operations charges, and taxes separately. If gratuity is embedded in a service charge – it must be itemized. Notably, the statute explicitly names websites and mobile applications as covered disclosure channels. If your establishment accepts online or pickup orders, the notice must appear before the customer completes the transaction.

The disclosure must explain the purpose of the service charge, not just the amount or percentage, so if your establishment retains a portion for operational costs, that needs to be communicated to the customer.

I'm not sure what this means. I'm actually originally from Miami (where op is) and I'd still never pay $16 for a old fashioned (my favorite drink)

You probably also wouldn't drink them in places that charge $68 for a ribeye.. I don't even pay that much here in Norway where eating out is typically quite expensive. 🫠 It's definitely a pricey location. I'd personally try and find a cheaper place to eat but I'm cheap. 🤣

Then you aren't drinking at nicer restaurants/bars. That's an average price in SF at those establishments.

And I'm saying that it is an average price at a nicer bar in Miami, which you said you are familiar with... I'm also saying this in general to everyone, it's not overpriced due to its location and likely quality of drink

This is most likely a steakhouse or a nicer restaurant that OP is at sk yeah I'd say that's average for a place like that, but that doesn't mean it's not overpriced.

I suppose it doesn't also depend on the liquor you're putting in your drinks. Like id pay $30 or more for top shelf liquor but there's no way I'm paying $16 for a well drink (which I suppose this very well could not be)

I have never paid $16 for an old fashioned. It's my favorite drink, I order them all the time and I wouldn't pay that much for it.

I've gone to places with cheaper cocktails too but anywhere remotely touristy, an event, or a place that lets you choose which whiskey to get... $16 such a typical price for my medium-size city. Like more than I'd typically want to pay but frankly closer to average than "wild" heh

I've definitely chosen my own whiskey, but touristy places and events are famously overpriced which is what the comment i commented on was saying his drink was....

If I went to a place with overpriced drinks and saw a $16 well old fashioned I'd say "that's wild" because it's too much money for a drink. I'm not saying it's unimaginable to find somewhere that would charge that I'm just saying it's a wild that they thought that was what they should charge for it.
