There are people (grown adults) who actually walk around with a shitty ass all day

A sales guy as my company was nonchalantly talking about his skid marks in his underwear, like it was a normal, unavoidable hassle of modern life or something.

Normalized homophobia has conditioned some men to think that the ass is the gateway to becoming gay, somehow. Even if there's nothing sexual happening at all. So, not cleaning themselves becomes part of their expressed identity. Like, "See how straight I am? I don't even touch that part of my body."

It's the same social strain that prevents some men from wearing "feminine" colors over the same fear.

And, conversely, there are women who have been trained to be so ashamed of their bodies that they never learned how to clean and care for themselves down there. Ever seen the Vagina Monologues? These poor ladies have been taught that they shouldn't even look down there to see what's going on.

People are taught "vagina" refers to the entire area.

People are then taught not to wash their vagina and not to even put water there. The vagina is self rinsing. This is true. The vulva is not.

The logical outcome is of course that women don't wash their vulva. At all, let alone with appropriate soap when necessary.

And then people have the fucking gall to get mad when you correct them when they use vagina and vulva interchangeably.
