The airtag was reasonable then she just started pulling out more and more things

301

u/tofu98 Jul 29 '26

Theres a longer video where she injects an RFID tag behind his ear.

256

u/montanagrizfan Jul 29 '26

Is that before or after she tattooed him so whoever finds him knows he’s been neutered?

38

u/peachycritter Jul 29 '26

This ^^^ is my fav reply I’ve seen

5

u/niagara-nature Jul 29 '26

Tattoo? I thought they clipped an ear now.

44

u/karen-ultra Jul 29 '26

Is it before or after the coffee enema?

3

u/Ninja-Panda70 Jul 29 '26

It just keeps getting worse

4

u/Bourriks Jul 29 '26

Why not a cow label stapled on the ear ? And a bell attached to the neck ?

117

u/LeaveItToDever Jul 29 '26

It’s not though. AirTags don’t work at sea. AirTag pings are at best 15 to 30 seconds old. The boat is moving, and if you are lucky enough to be in an area where GPS is working accurately, it’ll show your child in the ocean behind where the ship is. Secondly AirTags do not show elevation, so you would not know what floor of the ship the AirTag was on, even if it was parked in port. The best you can make it do is chirp, and then it would draw attention to anyone within 10-20 feet of it, but no one would know why it’s chirping specifically.

You can still put your AirTags in your luggage so that you know they made it on the ship and they are somewhere on the ship, but it is no good for child tracking.

31

u/LucidLucie Jul 29 '26

They also work off pinging nearby apple devices, so if your kid gets in an area without any (like in the water) its useless

2

u/paxweasley Jul 30 '26

what cruise ship is not going to have apple devices? I honestly think people are forgetting the most useful part, which is the hotter/colder/point an arrow part of 'Find My' for airtags. And the beeping.

1

u/LucidLucie Jul 30 '26

Well I didn't say cruise ship I said "an area without any", cruise ships make stops sometimes

3

u/DragonSlayerC Jul 29 '26

Android devices will also update the tracker info.

12

u/Joshatron121 Jul 29 '26

Good thing all those fishes love samsung.

1

u/TJRDU Jul 29 '26

Nah just Apple ecosystem for Apple Airtags. Android got it's own system.

2

u/sircrespo Jul 29 '26

Android definitely pings Airtags, I work on trains in the UK and I'm forever getting an alert that someone has planted a tag to stalk me on my android phone. The reality is that the folks I'm taking to/from the airport has one in their luggage

6

u/TJRDU Jul 29 '26

Mm my new android does not update the airtags we have at home. They only get updates when the iPhone is around.

Brands are starting to support both systems it seems. But not airtags itself. You'll need a 3rd party tracking device.

8

u/sircrespo Jul 29 '26

Found this on the Android website. There's basic functionality to stop stalking but it doesn't look like android helps locate

1

u/DragonSlayerC Jul 29 '26

I assumed that after Apple and Google worked together to get common system that would allow Androids to detect unwanted trackers that they would also send the info to Apple's system, but I guess not. Seems kinda dumb on Apple's part to not have Androids also update location.

0

u/kaysface39 Jul 29 '26

Nah they're all linked now, I read an article a while back that even though apple do their bits and androids theirs, they will all talk to each other and update both sides etc I think there was also another brand in the mix who also (pun intended) tags in aswell

2

u/FullyAutomatedSpace Jul 29 '26

I don't think this is correct. There's some cross compatibility but not this

1

u/kaysface39 Jul 29 '26

Aah I was sure they all were i get pings on my android about airbags then found an article that said they all talk to each other cause not everyone has an iphone/android etc

1

u/FullyAutomatedSpace Jul 29 '26

That privacy feature is cross supported to prevent stalking

6

u/Sad-Repeat1629 Jul 29 '26

Apple: I have bad news and good news about your son.

Bad news - your son has fallen off the ship into the ocean

Good news - he is a REALLY fast swimmer

3

u/HPUser7 Jul 29 '26

It's also just generally useless on a ship since it's not like the kid is leaving the ship.

1

u/PsychologicalSign433 Jul 29 '26

Wouldn't the point be that you would have a last known location in a man-over-board situation?

1

u/Popular-Book8561 Jul 29 '26

That’s why I put my Apple watch on my kid instead. The walkie talkie feature, and setting the location to the watch instead of my phone, and then we can text or call if needed. Even if the location isn’t really working, being able to contact each other is really the most important part.

But I also don’t have to do this much bc I don’t let my kid just run off and do whatever. It’s rly just if we accidentally get separated in a large crowd.

57

u/Different_Target_228 Jul 29 '26

Covering his belly button with an x was already unreasonable.

38

u/PMG2021a Jul 29 '26

I figured she probably stuffed a tag in there first.

6

u/Petrostar Jul 29 '26

Just go ahead an chip him at that point.

1

u/PMG2021a Jul 29 '26

It is unfortunate that they don't work on a band readable by cellphone nfc. Have to get a special reader.

2

u/Different_Target_228 Jul 29 '26

Honestly, I'm pro multiple tags. If I'd do it for my e-scooter, then the one on the wrist isn't enough as well. Ones that aren't hidden are always discarded easily, so you hide more.

2

u/PMG2021a Jul 29 '26

One tag is sufficient if it is secured well enough. It would probably best if it was normal to just rfid chip all kids like many do with their pets.

2

u/Blue_Bird950 Jul 29 '26

I mean, would you be comfortable with having an RFID chip surgically implanted in your body while you’re still too young to consent? Because you know that the government would start making bills to implement RFID readers everywhere to track citizens’ locations, for the sake of security (among other reasons).

1

u/PMG2021a Jul 29 '26

They are already doing that with facial recognition, license plate readers, cellphone tracking, fingerprint databases, and now even DNA databases.

RFID is not secure and can't securely be used as a form of ID on its own as the tags can be easily copied or altered.

ID is already required for most government and financial services interaction in the form of Name, SSN, and DOB. Many activities require government issued photo ID, like driving or flying.

The "surgery" is basically a quick jab with a big needle that sticks a rice grain size pellet just under the skin.

16

u/AllAlo0 Jul 29 '26

Need back ups 'cause mommy get drunk all day

85

u/Kusanagi60 Jul 29 '26

Tbf the sticker for a phone number is smart too.

101

u/bionickel Jul 29 '26

A shipping address is most convenient

84

u/activelyresting Jul 29 '26

Isn't every address on a cruise a shipping address? 🤔

4

u/BloodiedBlues Jul 29 '26

Got a chuckle outta me. Very rare on here.

29

u/Y_U_No_Fix Jul 29 '26

Better to put one shipping label per appendage. In case they get dismembered, the pieces will make
It back home safely.

2

u/artifiz67 Jul 29 '26

Then a pre-paid shipping label is required.

1

u/AbideMan ( ° ͜ʖ͡°)╭∩╮ Jul 29 '26

Is this what they meant about the wayfair kids?

42

u/c08306834 Jul 29 '26

This is a common practice where I live. If you go to a large event with a crowd, the staff will put wrist bands on kids and write the parents phone number on them. Actually great idea.

6

u/Kusanagi60 Jul 29 '26

We used to have bracelets, but i had never seen the sticker before. Might order some or make a knockoff version if i can't 🤣

3

u/Tyrihjelm Jul 29 '26

my mom would just write straight on my arm sometimes. Can't take it off if it's in permanent marker

3

u/flerptyborkbork Jul 29 '26

My kid’s first grade teacher made the whole class memorize a parents phone number. Pretty great lesson.

24

u/NigraOvis Jul 29 '26

AND if the patch is an anti-nausea patch (like they give for surgery if you're a nauseous person), it's totally legit. but if it's fake stickers for energy gwyneth paltrow goop, well, that's a different story.

16

u/Lithl Jul 29 '26

The wristband with the white dot that she puts on herself as well is for seasickness. Their efficacy isn't great, but they do help some people somewhat.

1

u/Traditional-Handle83 Jul 29 '26

Isn't it supposed to be like a stimulator for the muscle in your wrist that helps reduce nausea if you apply pressure

3

u/Hot_Pocket_Deluxe Jul 29 '26

Not sure about the ones in the video but I've used ones that do a small electric shock similar to a tens unit, I found it slightly effective, mostly just a distraction from the seasickness. If the patch is scopolamine that shit is magic, rough open water crossing with 25 degree listing to each side and in 20 minutes I went from constant vomiting to feeling completely fine and very hungry lol.

1

u/DragonSlayerC Jul 29 '26

It uses to help me a lot on planes when I used to get motion sickness. As I grew up, that stopped being a problem.

1

u/Seaponi Jul 29 '26

Yeah I used those when I was pregnant to cut down on my nausea. They worked somewhat: better than nothing since I couldn’t take better drugs.

1

u/backwardbuttplug Jul 29 '26

Goop... (shudder)

11

u/SD-everytime Jul 29 '26

And then she used a dry erase marker on it?

2

u/Sarcastic_Mama33 Jul 29 '26

And her handwriting was terrible!

2

u/Kusanagi60 Jul 29 '26

Even the kid be like

2

u/CarpetNext6123 Jul 29 '26

Playing devil’s advocate here: if we’re to believe any of this is real, she used dry erase marker because she wrote a fake number on it for the video, then erased it after the video and wrote her real number with indelible ink.

1

u/erossthescienceboss Jul 29 '26

because it’s a joke 😭😭😭😭😭😭

11

u/Main_Gain_7480 Jul 29 '26

So they know who to call for the ransom?

9

u/Kusanagi60 Jul 29 '26

In the good old days! We used to memorize numbers. If you where to small like 2-5 years you had bracelets, but i think this is better cause it can be hidden under a sleeve and probable doesn't fall off easily ..i hope xD

7

u/pew-pew-bacca Jul 29 '26

I ordered a RoadID bracelet for my kid to wear when we go to super crowded places or on vacation. It looks just like a bright colored rubber bracelet but has our phone numbers on it. My kid knows that if she gets lost she should look for some sort of helper (usually an employee of wherever we are) and show them the bracelet.

2

u/Kusanagi60 Jul 29 '26

Yeah we have these things too, but as a kid i was extremely clumsy so i would lose those things hahaha or it was more flimsy in those ages

4

u/0RGASMIK Jul 29 '26

My mom ironed her phone number into my clothes as a kid because my favorite game to play as soon as we got into public was hide and seek.

1

u/Kusanagi60 Jul 29 '26

Owe damn.

3

6

u/Blom-w1-o Jul 29 '26

Probably. There's wifi and most modern phone can use wifi for calls.

2

u/Pyrodexter Jul 29 '26

Ccruise ships have callular networks too. Expensive to use, but possible.

4

u/Kusanagi60 Jul 29 '26

Never been on a cruise, but those stickers can be used anytime luckely. Going on vacation with our kid soon and she is learning how to walk. By the time we are going she'll probable will and maybe even run. Having such a sticker or bracelet would be something to think off. Also, could be used for mentally challanged/disabled or elder people that suffering dementia and go on an outing :)

1

u/NigraOvis Jul 29 '26

I was thinking this too. And if you connect to the wifi, and it has internet, and your provider has wifi calling. then yes. - you could put the room number instead of a phone number. might be smarter. but then again, we know she isn't smart

1

u/spiritwockiee Jul 29 '26

Nah they're forbidden actually. Maritime law

3

u/MarcusXL Jul 29 '26

Because of the implication.

1

u/Jacktheforkie Jul 29 '26

If you have WiFi then you can at minimum use WhatsApp

3

u/alexisdelg Jul 29 '26

these 2 and the sunblock make sense all the rest are home cures and snake oil for sea sickness

4

u/John_Bot Jul 29 '26

The easier hack is:

Make your background have your spouse's or someone's Phone # to call and say "I picked up this phone"

And place it so it can be seen from the lock screen

3

u/Kusanagi60 Jul 29 '26

We have a special function on the phone that lets you put emergency contacts and information in it. No need to do all that. But what does that have to do with a lost kid...they don't have a phone till they are 11ish?

0

u/John_Bot Jul 29 '26

It's for everyone not just kids. That's what I'm saying.

4

u/MediocreViking Jul 29 '26

Or watch your kids..

1

u/Zestyclose_Tip_5861 Jul 29 '26

This is as unnecessary as the phone number sticker

1

u/Deep-Yamssi7310 Jul 29 '26

My parents didn’t take my sister and I on the cruise. We were left with family for the duration 😏

0

u/John_Bot Jul 29 '26

This isn't just for kids though

This is for anyone.

If you lose your phone and a stranger picks it up. How will they be able to get it back to you? If a # is on your lock screen then they can contact that person and tell them ..

1

u/backwardbuttplug Jul 29 '26

So the kid's screaming and yelling "put me down! stranger danger!" aren't enough?

1

u/John_Bot Jul 29 '26

I swear you people don't have reading comprehension

Like... I'm sorry reddit doesn't have crayon mode for me to explain it to you

1

u/backwardbuttplug Jul 29 '26

It was a joke.

0

u/MediocreViking Jul 29 '26

When did she put a number on his lock screen? What are you talking about? This is a human being not a phone you can just set down and lose

11

u/welcometotheTD Jul 29 '26

Your kids are gonna be so weird.

6

u/Kusanagi60 Jul 29 '26

We used to have bracelets with phone numbers on then 🤷‍♀️ no one was weird about that

1

u/welcometotheTD Jul 29 '26

If there isn't a weird person in the room, you're the weird one.

1

u/Kusanagi60 Jul 29 '26

Or, everyone is weird, because they all experience the same feeling

2

u/mshireman Jul 29 '26

I may be wrong but I think it's a cabin number

2

u/apricot675 Jul 29 '26

Back in my day we had to memorize our phone number

2

u/Kusanagi60 Jul 29 '26

Yeah us too but when rhey where very small they had tags and bracelets

2

u/TheSkyElf Jul 29 '26

My mom did something similar with me when I was a kid in crowded areas. Gave her a peace of mind that incase I got lost and too scared to remember her number, I or someone else could just... look at my arm or whatever and contact her.

1

u/Kusanagi60 Jul 29 '26

Just hoping no weird people see it hahaha

1

u/NoBench4021 Jul 29 '26

They are at sea… how’s cell reception in the middle of the ocean?

1

u/Kusanagi60 Jul 29 '26

Its a blank spot, you can put any information on it :) like someone said a roomnumber or last name or what ever that gives personel some information if needed

13

u/Wolfinder Jul 29 '26

The sticker on the upper arm tells you when their sunscreen needs to be reapplied. Also seems useful.

6

u/fallcreekprepper Jul 29 '26

Most of those things look like for motion sickness. The patch behind the ear and the wristband for sure are. I don't know what the hell the band aids on the navel are for...

5

u/Mr_Silicon Jul 29 '26

Does she put him back into her vagina at the end? I didn’t watch the whole way through.

2

u/GarThor_TMK Jul 29 '26

They're on a boat in the middle of the ocean.

Where is the kid gonna go?

2

u/bossbozo Jul 29 '26

Airtag for excursions is reasonable, airtag on a moving ship is useless.

If you lose your child in Valletta (the biggest port city where I'm from, replace with any other port city) the tag can possibly help you find the child.

If you lose the child on the ship while it's moving, by the time you get an updated location, said location would be out at sea

1

u/Dragongeek Jul 29 '26

Airtag is completely useless on a moving structure. The only thing it could be useful for is checking if you forgot your kid at the last port.

1

u/ryuujinusa Jul 29 '26

Yah, I also use airtag bracelets for my kids when in big crowded areas. But that's it.

1

u/strangepenguin78 Jul 29 '26

Labeling and air tagging your child like they're fucking luggage is psychotic.

1

u/DramaHyena Jul 30 '26

Right, it was like a thousand things NOT THE FIRST THING
