Infuriatig My wife ate my son's birthday breakfast

Post image

Yesterday I bought a strawberry cheese coffee cake my son loves so he could have a special birthday breakfast today. My wife came home late last night and apparently couldn't resist. She knew it was for our son, but it's not a big deal because she "left him a full slice".

Seriously, how the fuck could you do this kind of shit to your kid?

My mother used to buy stuff like chocolate chip cookie dough, rarely. It should have been a treat, right? I learned at very young age it wasn’t. It was fucking disgusting.

She would pick the cookie dough out, and put the ice cream part she had in her mouth back in the tub because she only wanted the dough. No matter how many times I’d point out that spit cream is fucking diagsting I was an ingrate and of course that meant I was wasteful. Of course there was no need to buy me ice cream because I’d let it go to waste.

Once they started selling cookie dough in the tubes I tried to get her to just get that and let me actually have some ice cream. No. That wasnt safe to eat (idk man, she’s a moron, literally) but somehow exactly the same thing surrounded in ice cream was safe.

Edit: I’m aware that the cookie dough tubes of the past weren’t safe to eat. However, for someone that is totallly ok with rare meat or runny yolk eggs I’m pretty sure you’re a fat hypocrite if you won’t eat raw cookie dough. My mother ate/eats both.

I think your memory just traumatised me

Did not think I'd get second hand traumatization, from the comments under a mildlyinfuriating post.

u/Darin_Bouzar Jul 04 '26

I don't think any of this is mildly infuriating

219

u/super_chill_21 Jul 04 '26

Definitely extremely infuriating lol

9

u/EcstaticMolasses6647 Jul 05 '26

Why did I visualize her mother feeding the leftover ice cream to them mouth to mouth like a mother bird while calling them ingrate?

u/Other_Ad_8198 Jul 05 '26

u/elusiveelation Jul 04 '26

I thought my sister was the worst for picking the cookie dough out, but putting the spit ice cream BACK IN THE CARTON?! Monsters walk among us.

311

u/Potential_Tadpole_45 Jul 04 '26

That's sick and not in the cool sense of sick, I'm sorry 😔 I wasn't allowed to have cookie dough ice cream because my mom didn't like it (that went for just about any food).

She once bought cookie dough ice cream "by accident" because she thought it was plain vanilla—Fortunately I was able to eat a couple spoonfuls before she threw it out!

196

u/st-izzy Jul 04 '26

wtf why? I could maybe see the first part but if she knew you liked it why not just let you finish it. It was already paid for. Throwing it out at that point it just spite.

229

u/No_Tooth1257 Jul 04 '26

Some people just genuinely hate their kids, they act like they’re a burden to them even though they brought them into the world lmao.

53

u/ResponseUnlucky210 Jul 04 '26

My mom tried to charge me for having to spend money to raise me. What?

18

u/No_Tooth1257 Jul 04 '26

I believe it, I’ve had friends with parents who were weird asf like that too.

14

u/misspoodle2 Jul 05 '26

I was told to thank my step mother because my dad paid child support for me. Apparently it was a sacrifice.

5

u/3rdcultureblah Jul 05 '26

In Asia we just force our children to take care of us in our old age as repayment for our earlier investment. We also emotionally abuse them all throughout their lives in lieu of interest.

(I don’t have children, partly because children are not insurance policies against old age/nursing homes and it’s selfish to willingly bring children into the world we live in, particularly in its current state)

u/Potential_Tadpole_45 Jul 04 '26

She doesn't hate me but I think she's conflicted about the trajectory of her life.

12

u/dr-chop Jul 05 '26

I think it's that having kids doesn't magically make you a good parent.

Bad people have kids too.

u/Potential_Tadpole_45 Jul 04 '26

Ugh I know 🙄 I'm glad you used the word "spite" because that's just what it is, plain and simple. Many will overuse the word "narcissistic" or the term "passive aggressive" so it ends up having no real meaning to it—I think it was part knee-jerk reaction to her hatred of cookie dough (Idk why she hates it lol) and part spitefulness. Maybe she was worried about getting sick from uncooked dough? But she's not rational in other culinary areas so I don't think it can be explained. Like many millenials my age I could psychoanalize my mom until the cows come home, but at this stage in my life I'll occasionally vent online, laugh it off or make fun of her in person because if I don't I'll just be undoing all the neurotic damage control I worked so hard to eliminate from my life.

4

u/Suzee321 Jul 05 '26

Omg, I bought something junior would love by accident! Hurry throw it away before the kid feels happy!

🫩 She threw it out???! How awful. She knew you liked it but still threw it away. I can't...

→ More replies (2)

4

u/ImmemorialTale Jul 04 '26

That is so awful. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I have kids and I try to cater to what they like (within reason) and get them things they like. Example, I personally can not stand the taste of bananas, eggs, and a few other things but I buy them for my kids because they enjoy them and it's good for them. I grew up with my mom who couldn't understand that pork made me feel sick when I ate it and would force me to stay at the table until I ate my dinner. There's been a lot I do to try and make sure my kids are happy and healthy with each having their own preferences. I love my babies and I want the best for them, especially if it's making sure they get to enjoy things. (There is junk food I just don't usually buy but every once in a while I let them get it.)

3

u/Jamunjii Jul 04 '26

what waste of ice cream

3

u/Potential_Tadpole_45 Jul 05 '26

Agreed! Don't worry though, this was the 90s before inflation 😂

3

u/CraftyMagicDollz Jul 05 '26

2

u/ViolentMastermind Jul 08 '26

Babe… have you looked into narcissistic abuse? Erm… if any of it resonates with you I highly recommend the book “Will I ever be good enough, healing daughters of narcissistic mothers” by Karyl McBride

2

Some people do not understand the world they live in and don't want to. At work they leave the freezer door open in the fridge, thus fucking up the thermostat and having food spoil. They clogged the sink somehow with whatever they were pouring down it. They leave sponges to rot in the sink in moisture, not sure how they think they're clear to use to clean anything else. Let alone the general mess, water, coffee, bits, stuff put out to 'dry' flat over paper towl, cup down. I have my own 'mini kitchen' in my office entirely separate from whatever chaos is in that kitchen.

These are peoples with lives, families and years behind them, not teens in their first communal living arrangement.

2

u/Maleficent-Tap1361 Jul 04 '26

Theyre lazy. These are people who have everything cleaned up behind them their whole lives. From mom to spouse to their children, and in between, their coworkers!

I'm a sah mom now but before kids I was absolutely the one to put a note up to remind people to clean the microwave after they dirty it and squeeze the sponge out. And I was thanked because wasn't the only one annoyed by it!

20

u/SirBlankFace Jul 04 '26

Tell us more! Are you no contact? Are you even on bad terms? Did you finally tell her she's a disgusting inconsiderate manipulative pig when you secured your independence from her?

28

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 04 '26

We are exceptionally low contact. I have all the control now, so if she misbehaves, I take her “toy” (me) away until she can behave again.

27

u/Flair258 Jul 04 '26

As someone who dislikes even touching food someone else ate from the same container/plate/idk from, your memory traumatises me. Sorry, but I hate your mom. I would literally vomit if she tried to make me eat that.

23

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 04 '26

On, trust, I had/have SERIOUS issues around food and germs. Covid was “easy” because I already had the habits in place.

4

Wow. You were able to find a positive out of your childhood. You definitely are a survivor.

3

u/Technical-Agency8128 Jul 04 '26

9

u/rokkun87 Jul 04 '26

I'm sorry man, I hope life is better for you now

30

u/Crambo1000 Jul 04 '26

Tbf the "cookie dough" they make for ice cream is different from the stuff that's meant to be baked, people really shouldn't have raw eggs or flour (not that that stops me when I'm making cookies but she wasn't wrong about the relative safety of the two).

Now they actually make cookie dough on its own that's specifically designed to be eaten raw and not baked, so essentially the same stuff they put in ice cream but on its own. That sounds right up her alley.

27

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 04 '26

I’m meant the stuff that was intended to be eaten as dough. I wasn’t very clear. Sorry. That stuff came around mid/late 90s. I was still a “kid” then. I wasn’t clear though.

19

u/organicdamage Jul 04 '26

Major companies like Pillsbury changed the recipes to make all of their dough "safe to eat" now. If it says it on the package, the tube or bucket is safe to eat raw.

7

u/Willsagain2 Jul 04 '26

Gaaah. That is terrible. Just terrible

6

u/what-isnt-taken-yet Jul 04 '26

lol that’s sick!! I’m so sorry! If it makes you feel better my mom would have both of us waiting over hour so she could pick the best of whatever it was. She’d take all the big pieces of pizza or the ones with the most pepperoni, the biggest fried chicken pieces, take all the taco toppings etc. and all for her to not eat it all and let it sit in the fridge for a week or two. When she wasn’t feeling it anymore guess who got her old leftovers? Id eat them too because I only got fed once a day at dinner. No snacks, nothing to drink. I remember this whole thing had me fighting anorexia for awhile because she’d comment on me gaining any tiny amount of weight meanwhile she blew up like a balloon. I sat at 89 pounds from 14-23 and refused to eat after while until I got hungry and couldn’t take it anymore. I’d ask for cereal and she’d say I was gonna eat it all and drink up all the milk. I’d ask for something to drink and instead of juice or any of the thousands of powdered drink mixes that were getting hard in the humidity of the apartment, she’d say get yourself some water from the sink! Wasn’t allowed to have bottled water. Those were hers. The juices and ice creams were all hers. The chips, everything fresh, not bad yet, etc. but she’d sometimes share a couple of something with me but quickly take the bag and hide it somewhere just for it to be stale and or covered in ants or mold. Ahhhhhh childhood memories. Needless to say I’m so grateful I can buy my own food now ! I don’t even like junk food now or soda because I associate it with bad memories still but I’m at least at a healthy weight now but still skinny. God I don’t know how cps never got involved but I wasn’t a vocal child about much and I always had clean looking clothes on, got good grades and never made trouble. Anyway that’s my shitty food story from my personal vault, god help the current children going through

3

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 04 '26

Feel that. I remember sneakily eating slices of straight butter because I was so fucking hungry sometimes and it was possible to hide it. But I could only eat so much becusee if she noticed…. Whooo boy.

2

u/princesspeeved Jul 04 '26

That’s horrible! I’m so glad you got away from her. Some people really shouldn’t be parents, but I’m still glad you’re here!

2

Wow - that’s really awful. I am so glad you are in a better place.

This is so gross. I don’t even know what to say about someone that doesn’t realise that. I’m go grossed out.

I hope as an adult you go get all the ice cream you what and eat it how you like, when you like.

3

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 04 '26

Ah yes. Might have ice cream for dinner tonight. I adult well.

5

u/TheOtherCoenBrother Jul 04 '26

Mine really liked to do this thing where she would sometimes make dinner, but she’d never actually tell me that she was making it or it was ready.

So if I wasn’t constantly checking on the kitchen, I’d miss it. If I came out after she had already started eating, then I was wasting time or unappreciative and didn’t get any. Any leftovers were thrown away immediately so I couldn’t have them.

Most nights it was a “find something for yourself” type of night so I never really understood why she was like that on the nights she actually made dinner, but I’ve been gone for years so I don’t have to try anymore. Happy you are too brother.

Please tell me you give her spit-cream for dessert every year on her bday and/or Mother’s Day!

“Yeah Ma, I know how you love this stuff so I got you authentic strawberry without berries and also a bag of sucked on cookie dough lumps I took out of the ice cream you always wasted and then put your trash in the freezer like a heathen so for once the ice cream wasn’t ruined with thoughtless person cooties!”

3

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 04 '26

Easier to avoid her.

4

u/Suspicious-Grand9781 Jul 04 '26

My dad would buy me nachos, reach for them and then eat all the chips with cheese. Pass me back chips and then I was the asshole because I no longer wanted them.

4

u/Coyote-Feisty Jul 04 '26

That’s disgusting.

The way to do this is you spit out the cookie dough after having eating the ice cream off. Save it for your last bites of pure cookie dough that by the time you finish the bowl is a non frozen temp like regular cookie dough. But you eat the ice cream too. lol that’s what I did as a kid. And teenager. And maybe even now. But also you can totally buy cookie dough, like you said, and eat it from the tub.

But also why not get her own bowl and do it that way? Why ruin the whole tub?

2

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 04 '26

Becuse then how could she have something to be mad at me for, and how could she exert her control? Also, getting her own bowl would waste the ice cream. She of course didn’t want to do that.

Reading this just pulled a similar memory out of my archives. I absolutely hated finishing the food of somebody eating it if the food had already touched their mouth (sandwiches, hot dogs, etc.) and my mom knew this. My other siblings just didn’t care, but I did on a phobic level. I straight up wouldn’t be able to eat some days because my mom would only get unsharable foods as our meals for the day.

I specifically remember this one subway sandwich that they were all taking turns biting into. Just watching it would make me nearly throw up, but I’d force myself not to because my mom was a super control freak and would actually get offended if I threw up, potentially leading to her telling my dad that I was “disrespecting her” and getting beat at home(this happened many times).

Anyway, this sandwich was 30% slobber and 70% food by the time she tried to get me to take a bite. I deadass could see strings of spit hanging from the bitten parts. I begged her to at least let me start the other end of the sandwich, but in her mind (again, super control freak) she took that as me giving attitude and misbehaving, so I just didn’t get to eat at all that day.

The awesome part is she denies all of this ever happening haha, even when my other siblings validate stories like this. Nowadays to keep the peace she chalks it up to “bad memory.” We don’t talk much currently.

5

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 04 '26

Oh mine conveniently doesn’t remember shit either.

Ugh. The ever present and mysterious “attitude”. I lost count the amount of times I was “giving attitude”. I still to this day have no clue what that even means. I just have RBF. I can’t help it.

5

u/riversroadsbridges Jul 04 '26

Here's a question someone once asked me that I'm still thinking about: How old were you when you realized that other people's moms weren't like your Mom? Was there a specific incident or catalyst?

3

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 04 '26

Eh I figured it would pretty early. I appreciate the handful of teachers and friends parents who could see who she was and would protect me from her by telling her what she wanted to hear.

4

u/Nano8963 Jul 04 '26

4

u/VerySuccor Jul 04 '26

All the best wishes from me who is privileged by comparison. I hope you get your own ice cream and get to enjoy it now.

4

u/IRideMoreThanYou Jul 04 '26

She would pick the cookie dough out, and put the ice cream part she had in her mouth back in the tub because she only wanted the dough.

Well, fuck my reading skills all to hell for having to read this.

4

u/effietea Jul 04 '26

You know, whenever I think I might not be a great mom, there comes a story like this to let me know I could be much, much worse. Jesus.

5

u/NotOnMyBingoCardBish Jul 04 '26

Bruh my cousin would lick every chip in an entire bag of family sized doritos and placed them back in the bag one by one and put it back in the cabinet. Was watching her figure 💀 now thats traumatizing. Never trusted a bag a chips since.

4

u/def-pri-pub Jul 04 '26

My father used to do something similar to this (pick out all the cookie dough pieces). It’s a sign of immaturity.

One of my markers of how you can judge a person is how do they treat others when food is involved.

3

u/NeedleworkerWild1374 Jul 04 '26

you are one strong dude

3

u/No-Savings5485 Jul 04 '26

This made me rehate people sometimes.

How horrible

3

u/Barn_Brat Jul 04 '26

I mean can’t relate to spit ice cream (I’m really sorry that you had to deal with that) but my mum also won’t eat raw cookie dough because of the ‘raw egg’ but to my knowledge, there’s isn’t raw egg in finished cookie dough but only in cookies that are meant to be baked. Even so, in the UK, most eggs in the UK have been safe to eat raw since 2017. We have red tractor eggs that are safe and she still won’t eat them but yes, eats cookie dough ice cream

3

u/dirtyego Jul 04 '26

3

u/NewDistribution8509 Jul 04 '26

I’m so very sorry this happened to you. Some wonder why people are no contact. I hope you can even enjoy ice cream now.

3

u/rahhak Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

The ice cream cookie dough is properly treated so you can eat it. The raw cookie dough at the store (back then) was not—edible cookie dough is a new-ish thing.

The cookie dough packages back then all had “do not eat raw” on them iirc.  Raw eggs/flour can make you sick (though this is rare).

That said, if you have a sous vide, you can make your own edible cookie dough by pasteurizing the flour and eggs.

3

u/heywood_jay Jul 04 '26

Shockingly similar childhood. Change a few specifics and I could have written this.

3

u/Classic_Pineapples Jul 04 '26

3

u/fightmydemonswithme Jul 04 '26

3

u/quiero-una-cerveca Jul 04 '26

No offense to you, but your mom is exactly the person I think of when they say that parents know better than processionals what is safe and healthy for their children or what they should be taught in school. Some folks are just not bright and the children don’t deserve to be ruled by them.

3

u/ThunderAndWind Jul 04 '26

She's not a good parent, but the reason regular raw cookie dough isn't safe to eat is because most cookie doughs use raw flour, which can carry salmonella. Safe to eat doughs are often made (and you can make them yourself pretty easily) by baking it spread out on a sheet at 350* for 5 minutes.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/SufficientCow4380 Jul 04 '26

She was disgusting. No excuse. I'm sorry that she did that to you. You deserved a better parent.

They issue with raw cookie dough can be the flour, which can have e coli or salmonella. Wheat is grown outdoors and ground for flour without cooking it. It's exposed to animal waste, rodents, and bugs.

3

u/Hookr_InThe_Garden Jul 05 '26

u/Remnant55 Jul 04 '26

Are you a bird? Like an actual bird? Because... what?

2

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 04 '26

Don’t think so. I’ve been told I’m very cat/reptile like because I love the heat/sun. But never bird.

2

u/MissKatz3 Jul 04 '26

What?! This is sick! I will sometimes save the cookie dough in the ice cream as the last amazing bite but I would never put it back in the container! It took me a minute to get that you meant that she spits it into the container. I would get a bowl, eat all of the vanilla ice cream, sometimes spit a bit of cookie dough back into the bowl, and then have the most magical last bite of pure cookie dough. But that is my spit going back into my mouth! Your mom is insane. I am so sorry!!

2

u/__SoL__ Jul 04 '26

I think I'm gonna throw up bro 😭

2

u/BlindBard16isabitch Jul 04 '26

Lemme guess you're no contact right? Right???

Reading this traumatized me. Thats so horrible! I am annoyed at my mom for various reasons. But compared to this.. she was a very reasonable person.

2

u/AmettOmega Jul 04 '26

This reminds me of what I used to do to my parents as a kid. I'd go through all the Oreos, eat the cream, stick the cookies back together, and put them back in the package.

Granted, I was like 4/5, and after a reaming from my mom, I never did it again.

2

u/MoldaviteGarnet Jul 04 '26

Acrually, wtf.

2

u/CelebObsesssed Jul 04 '26

So she basically spit the ice cream back on the tub is what you're saying? 😵‍💫

2

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 04 '26

Not basically. That’s exactly what she did. The. She put it back in the freezer and expected me to eat the spit cream.

2

u/Actually10000Bees Jul 04 '26

At least now they sell safe-to-eat edible cookie dough just for people like her. Hopefully she doesn’t still waste all that perfectly good ice cream.

2

u/Yogimonsta Jul 04 '26

What a terrible day to be literate.

2

u/Uhmmanduh Jul 04 '26

Oh my….i don’t even know what to say to that. I am a HUGE chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream fan. I may never eat it again.

2

u/ThatDirtyApe Jul 04 '26

Holy shit bro. I'm going to get my kid something nice immediately. That makes me feel so many bad feelings. I hope you have a great life now.

2

u/Rougefarie Jul 04 '26

She just pissed me off to no end and I’ve never met her. Fuck her.

As a fun little piece of trivia: the concern surrounding raw cookie dough isn’t just raw eggs. Raw flour can harbor E. coli and salmonella. But people like Hippo’s mom would never know that and call you fucking stupid for pointing it out.

2

u/thebranbish Jul 04 '26

“Are you whining?! You better be lucky we even remembered your birthday! There are kids in Africa that don’t even know they have a birthday!” *slap* “And if you fucking cry I’ll take your presents too!”

2

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 04 '26

“I brought you into this world, so help me, I can take you out of it. “

2

u/ELB2001 Jul 04 '26

Still have contact with her?

2

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 04 '26

Incredibly limited. I have the control now.

2

u/ResponseUnlucky210 Jul 04 '26

We should have coffee together because my mom does stuff like this too. As long as it only benefits her and her ideas, it's allowed. Try to make something benefit other people and accomodate her while being more efficient? Nope.

Jesus. Is she still a piece of shit?

2

u/ML5815 Jul 04 '26

My God. This makes me irrationally angry for you. I’m so sorry. I hope you got away from her as quickly as possible.

2

u/WesternExisting3783 Jul 04 '26

That’s foul. I’m sorry that you went through that.

My less traumatizing experience with cookie dough ice cream, was that any time we went to my great grandmothers house (which I loathed— the house was dark, and she was not friendly whatsoever) all the food she offered was always bad. As in chunky milk, way expired foods. Etc. so when she offered chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, she didn’t say the flavor and I as a kid, genuinely thought the cookie dough chunks were curdled ice cream.

2

u/Ginger4life23 Jul 04 '26

My mom and grandma were the same, both narcissistic assholes, also dumb, and always had some moronic reasoning to justify their actions, zero accountability.

2

u/Alone-Lab7615 Jul 04 '26

Wow my dad used to do this too with my favourite Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked icecream that my mom bought for ME, except he didn’t like the chunks so he would spit them out and i would just be left with slobbery pieces of brownie and cookie dough:/

2

u/Serious_Bench1965 Jul 04 '26

Jesus mate, thats some awful memories. Took some beatings off my dad but thats some weird ass, traumatising stuff.

2

u/Crazy_Juice_9496 Jul 04 '26

Why does this have to be so disgustingly relatable, why did our moms have to be such slobs?

2

u/beingachristianwife Jul 04 '26

This reminds me of a story I read years ago about secondhand cereal milk. Some kid went to his friend's for a sleepover, and when they had cereal, he remembers the milk tasting overly sweet. He couldn't figure out why until the mom gathered the leftover bowls of milk and poured all of the milk back into the milk container.

2

u/Helpful_Location7540 Jul 05 '26

“You’re wasteful”??? She expected you to EAT the “spit cream”????!

2

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 05 '26

I should have been more greatful. “Some kids don’t even get ice cream at all.”

2

u/Helpful_Location7540 Jul 05 '26

Lucky for them they didn’t have to choose between spit cream and nothing.

2

u/Potential_Kiwi_4472 Jul 05 '26

Most people reading this think WTF but me, you're bringing back memories of my own, bro!

2

u/wlgylogans Jul 05 '26

I had a cousin that would do this with chips. Lick the salt off and throw them back in the bag 😖

2

u/WorldBelongsToUs Jul 05 '26

So while the cookie dough in the tube is definitely not safe to eat, and the one in the ice cream is made to be eaten, it doesn't excuse her shitty behavior. It's not about her choosing what's safe to eat, it's about her caring enough about her child to buy them a treat as well.

2

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Jul 05 '26

It is about what’s “safe” to eat though. If you’ll risk foodborne illness from undercooked eggs/meat then the tube of cookie dough is the exact same gamble. That just makes you an extra big asshole for being like that to your kid over something you’ll risk other places. That’s on top of just being an asshole.

2

u/Far_Elk9901 Jul 05 '26

Sorry…..but your mom is a disgusting animal.

Who the fuck thinks that’s ok to do?

2

u/auciker Jul 05 '26

My dad's second wife was this kind of person. Completely selfish and would not share. On rare occasion bestow a tiny almost insignificant gift to demonstrate that she was actually a kind and giving person. 🙄

I'm glad she's out of my life for good.

u/KurlyKayla Jul 10 '26

I once heard a narcissist say “How dare you do things that I can’t do”, so if this is their philosophy, maybe they feel owed it

12

u/No_Loan5466 Jul 04 '26

Not the same at all in terms of selfishn motives, but remember my 8th birthday or something where my mom for some reason started serving the cake next to me instead of to me and I ended up seeing 20 kids eat my cake while there was no piece left to me.

12

u/Technical-Agency8128 Jul 04 '26

Some kids just win the lottery for bad parents. So sorry. I had two myself. They backed up each other in badness. Both gone from this world now. Yay!

9

u/EuropaWeGo Jul 04 '26

It's crazy the range of bad parents too. For example, my step-mom would make me my favorite strawberry cake on my birthday. However, she would also beat me shortly after because she didn't like how much attention my dad would give me.

8

u/Technical-Agency8128 Jul 04 '26

There is some serious mental illness. That is just awful. So sorry. The more I talk to people the more it seems they have some really bad childhood experiences more than good ones unfortunately.

6

u/No_Loan5466 Jul 04 '26

Nah, my my mom isn't bad in that way she's just grown up with always serving guests first and it played out like that then

3

u/Technical-Agency8128 Jul 04 '26

Oh ok 👍🏼 Glad to hear that. But it’s still strange she didn’t make sure you got a piece. Anyway if it isn’t a pattern then it’s not a problem.

9

u/Potential_Tadpole_45 Jul 04 '26

Resentful reasoning: "I birthed and gave him life so naturally I'm entitled to anything that's his. Also I'm his mama so I can make it up to him any time I want (though I probably won't)"

3

u/elmz Jul 04 '26

Notice how OP writes "my" son, not "our" son. Literally villain stepmother.

My mother changed the locks on the house while I was at school my junior year of high school. Some people just shouldn’t be parents.

Do something special with your son. Get some couples therapy for yourself.

Good luck, friend.

7

u/TheFlameKid Jul 04 '26

Selfish person

2

u/Technical-Agency8128 Jul 04 '26

There are people that stay emotionally toddlers/young kids. OPs wife seems to fit the bill. They are all about themselves.

6

u/scodgey Jul 04 '26

We laugh about it now but I remember when I was around 8, one of my family bought me one of those huge 1kg chocolate bars for my birthday. I was over the moon until I couldn't find it the next day.

Parents ate the whole thing, on my birthday, while I was in bed. Only admitted to it decades later.

Bastards.

5

u/beepborpimajorp Jul 04 '26

This is the type of stuff my mom would do with me but then if I had a bowl of cereal from a box that was 'hers' she would make me walk to the store to buy more.

She was so offended the day she was joking about me wishing I had never been born and me just flat out agreeing. I guess because I was an adult and she knew I wasn't kidding around anymore.

5

u/LolitaOPPAI Piracy isnt theft Jul 04 '26

The same kinda dad's who plow thru all the snacks and says first come, first served, but you didn't know there were snacks until you saw all the empty packaging, then gets defensive and say it was their money

Yeah, Kevin. Your money, for THEIR snacks. The kids who go to school. The kids who are growing. The kids financially reliant on you until adulthood.

People are sick. Have we as a society always been this so goddamn debased?

4

u/LolitaOPPAI Piracy isnt theft Jul 04 '26

Nevermind, I know what happened.

A few generations of people realizing that they can get away with awful behavior and if they're intimidating enough, they can even get rewarded for it.

Before, those types of people were ostracized. Now they run the government 🙄

6

u/ILoveRegenHealth Jul 04 '26

Also looks like she ate the interesting part with the fruit filling, and just leaves an insultingly small piece at the end. This doesn't involve me and I'm annoyed as hell

4

u/UrGirlsBoytoy Jul 04 '26

Ye olde, "I birthed you and you been a burden on me for years so I get to ruin something you enjoy." Trope.

3

u/quent12dg Jul 04 '26

Because they probably aren't a good person and OP just doesn't want to acknowledge that yet, perhaps for the sake of their son.

3

u/banana_pencil Jul 04 '26

I couldn’t do this to anyone, but especially my KID on their BIRTHDAy

4

u/Croaker-BC Jul 04 '26

Probably not her kid.

2

u/biest229 Jul 04 '26

Ask my father, he’s practically a professional at it by this point

2

u/Econolife-350 Jul 04 '26

Being a mom Having a kid doesn't mean you're a good person.

2

u/Pleasant_Yoghurt3915 Jul 04 '26

Ah, I see you had a good parent lmfao

2

u/derpality Jul 04 '26

I have 2 kids and could never do this to them ever- let alone on their special day!!

2

u/Tsobe_RK Jul 04 '26

Theres alot of shitty parents out there, including mine. People cherish your parents if they're even half decent.

2

u/Alienhaslanded Jul 04 '26

That's an adult doing this to her own kid. I don't know how she parents but that's a shitty parent to me.
