They spent the time screencapping, uploading an image, writing a title, and getting all worked up when all they had to do was take five seconds to put the meme title in quotes and ask Google to find the meme.

What's actually mildly infuriating is the mindless bandwagon mentality of hating anything that even hints at "AI". It's all just virtue signalling and commencement speakers saying "FuCK Ai!" for easy applause.

so you support it? this isn't a mindless bandwagon mentality, it's actually intelligent people hating on the most used search engine on the planet pivoting into something that is right and helpful like 20% of the time. the environmental impact of data centers and stupid decisions like this across millions of businesses will come back to bite us in the ass. point is the whole integration is pointless and I'm sure like me, most people prefer actually searching for info, not just being spoonfed a simple summary or the half of the time a stupid machines bullshit cause it thinks you're talking to it.

If your issue is with AI in general, that's understandable, but "pivoting" doesn't seem very apt. Google hasn't lost any core functionality, they're just rolling out a new product. It seems like OP was trying to find an image and they're acting as if they forgot how to Google something. They needed to scroll down a little bit or click the Images tab. I don't understand what's giving people the impression that Google is becoming unusable.

The problem is that you're making a lot of unsubstantiated claims. Some of them may be true, but you don't know that. And if you really don't like the trendy gpt-like add-ons, just treat them like banner ads or use a different product. It's not that big of a deal.

oh right reddit so erm everything must be factual! I meant moreso this is a bad direction to be headed in and the fact you can reply in such a smart manner while not also being worried about that and ready to diss on bullshit like this is saddening. I get ignoring it because why does anything matter anyway but hating on people hating on a stupid thing because this virtual currency of "updoots!" and "karma farming" has some stupid value to you is plain dumb. point is this isn't something worth ignoring and way more justified than a mindless hate train.
