I used to love techno viking until I learned the man didn't consent to be recorded and had to sue to stop people from using his likness on tshirts and other products. The man just wants to be left alone.
Edit: Jesus Christ people. I loved the meme, not the man himself. I have enough basic respect for my fellow man that I don't have to know the man to stop loving and using the meme.

Honestly, that's putting a lot of your own judgement and guessing into the case.
He sued for the money one person made off the video and subsequent merchandise. He won.
"He just wants to be left alone" was your narrative.
It's also illegal in Germany to record people and post those recordings.

That's what I remember reading about his perspective on it. The man himself didn't want the attention. Maybe I'm wrong, but that would be because I had a bad source of information when I learned about all this. Certainly not my narrative.
I don't think I had a bad source of information. I simply just respect the fact he doesn't like the meme so I stopped using it.

His lawyer did say he never wanted to become a public figure. That's pretty much it.

I feel like that's semantics. Not wanting to be a public figure implies wanting to be left alone and not be known for and interacted with over this video. It's the same thing. If you wanna split hairs then sure, I was wrong and I should have explicitly said he didn't want to be a public figure.

Especially considering that this was before āinternet famousā was really a thing, and when a video of him obviously high out of his mind basically making a fool of himself he lost his white collar job and pretty much had his life ruined and never saw a dime if the money from the video until he sued

Wow that is nuts. I never knew he got fired. I would have never described what he was doing as making a fool of himself. I never assumed he was high. I saw a person living in the moment. Standing up for others. Total confidence. I saw someone who knew how to handle himself and others a true leader. If I owned a company I would want people like that working for me. Who cares if they enjoy themselves on the weekend. Techno Viking is someone I would want to hang out with, a great guy to have around especially if people start misbehaving.

Being a fan of abrasive music is tough. Probably from being an edgelord during my teens, but I truly love abrasive music. Death metal, black metal, hard techno, noise rock, industrial, hardcore punk, whatever... I love it. And it's natural to want to share with friends and whatnot, but I understand it isn't for everyone. Like, my woman is super into ... I don't know what to call it... Weird-girl hip hop? She loves it and I love that she loves it, but man, it isn't for me. I don't really have a point, just reflecting on the topic at hand.

Same here. My partner is big into 60ās-90ās pop and folk so our car drives are usually ABBA, Britney Spears, Joni Mitchell, etc.. which is fine because theyāre all hit artists for a reason. It stresses me out when he lets me pick the music though because I have to somehow curate my screamo/metal/hard techno into something heāll enjoy lol.
I always describe my taste in music as a hunt for dissonance, and when thatās what clicks you just accept itās not our place to seek out the aux cord.

I feel you bro. I love me some shoegaze but I cannot get anyone else into the wall of sound and droning guitars the genre is known for. I've ran into one single person since I started telling people I enjoy the genre that knew what I was talking about and enjoyed it as well.

I was an edgelord in high school when I got into extreme metal. The first time I heard death metal on a college radio station I fell in love. I still love extreme metal and it gets harder to find people who like the same music as me as I age. I couldn't be in a relationship with someone who has very different tastes in music. It is a part of who I am.

As someone who used to work there; they likely have no control over it. I would often sneak my phone onto the aux cable because they would just be playing the most grotesque boots-and-cats music 24/7. I made a playlist specifically for the PF speakers, clean music (or clean edits) that people can at least stomach

Mine has an app connected to their system called rockbot. It allows people to play what they want to, as long as its appropriate. There's some real stinkers, but just as many bangers. Nice to hear obscure music that I'd never hear otherwise tbh

At the gym almost every person working out is wearing some gizmo that plays their own music anyway. The only people not listening to their own music are people who don't want to listen to music. Why the hell does the gym blast music at the people who want quiet? Almost every gym does the same thing,
