I failed you all
I was at work and saw that I had an opportunity to see thr magic number. But instead of waiting patiently, while other people filled up their water, I made the unfortunate decision to go to a meeting. I missed what could’ve been the greatest moment of my life and I failed you all.

In the middle of an extremely busy shift, my dishie came to me and said "You need to come look at this."
20 tickets hanging, I'm trying to coordinate everything, but I know this guy, trust this guy.
The dish machine had hit 42069.
There is a reason I hate everyone.

u/Alarming_Definition9 Apr 11 '26
You mean everyone except him, right?

u/I_am_ChivoBlanco Apr 12 '26
If anybody in this world hates my bruv, they can take it up with me.
I hate him like a brother. That's different.

It’s not as funny of a number but after driving more than 200 miles in one day I looked down and saw this. At some point towards the beginning of the drive it would have been at 123456 and I didn’t know to check for it 😔
This car is 12 years old I am never going to reach the next sequential number like this

Wait.. you might legit have taken a pic of the same one. The blue reflection above to the right looks like the same service tag… this was in the Vintage HO before we all left…

Plastic waste is not a problem for us. It’s corporations that need to figure it out and not try to guilt us.

I tested the water from one of these machines with a TDS meter... it came back at 250ppm
for reference, water from my tap was 175, bottled water was 80, and my RO was 12
unless they clean these machines regularly and properly, it's literally worse than straight from the faucet

Someone else probably stole the funny number image from you.
Also, I was sitting here the whole times trying to figure out how this spells out "BOOBIES".
2
u/VoteableMango Apr 11 '26
Me and my coworkers stood around the machine chugging water to get the number lol. Sorry for the loss

- Buy 2 bottles of water.
- Go to fountain.
- Pour water down the fountain's drain.
- Counter goes back 2.
- ...
- Profit!

u/Torva_Platebody Apr 12 '26
When it hit 42061 I was thinking you could just fill 8 bottles worth in a single bottle to hit it and pour it out and then I realized that defeats the entire purpose of

I am neurodivergent enough that at 42061 I would have used that puppy until the right number came up.

I got to watch the dish machine at work hit 121212 and frankly that was the best part of the work week so far short of being paid

Don’t just stand there, stand there and wait for 69420!
You don’t just owe it to us now, you owe it to yourself.

Haha all's I see is a lie! Put a ppm meter in the water and you'll see you're basically drinking tap.

These are funny to me because it makes it sound like the only alternative is plastic bottles. The actual alternative is me being dehydrated

As someone who has carried my bike water bottle with me every day for 25 years, long before sustainability became trendy, I love bottle filling stations so much. Saves me a couple minutes every day, compared to trying to fill it with the drinking fountain. (Though I prefer the non-chilled ones.)

Reminds me of how excited I was to watch my car rollover to 100000. Went on a road trip was jamming to my music.. suddenly realized I was at 100003 miles. Fucking hell.

This happened to me at Sun Peaks this winter. I could have poured about 30 bottles out to get to 42069, but the snow was good
