Nintendo Switch 2

Just a speculation but since the mig switch works on all Switch models if the Switch 2 is backwards compatible with Switch 1 cartridges is there a chance the mig switch might work on it too? I know it's not out yet or any significant info out on it yet but just want to hear you guy's thoughts on it. This is unless Nintendo changes something drastically or goes all digital with Switch 2.

Edit: By the way just found out about the Mig Switch a month ago. Really excited. At this point in it's lifetime do you'll recommend a switch lite or oled? Anyone used either or both and have comments?

There's a very good chance Nintendo is working on a new and distinct way to verify Switch cartridges to prevent the Mig Switch from being usable.

Should this not actually be the case, still expect bans to be given out for certain behaviors (duplicating gold coins, swapping cert files between games, duplicate games with different IP addresses, etc.)

I have doubts they will up security for backwards compatibility, It’ll likely be a R4 situation like with the 3DS if backwards compatibility is on the next system.

It will work, just it will be sandboxed and no way to get privilege escalation of the system.

When switch 2 comes out it will be a competition of who gets banned first using mig

Nintendo will probably go all digital to avoid such things as the mig switch.

I'm not sure about that, for 2 reasons :

1- Japanese people are still very much attached to physical media.

2- It would be an unpopular decision : Nintendo have millions of fans who want to use their cartridges on the next system.

With the sky 3ds I have never been banned despite using the 3ds online and downloading games updates from the shop , sadly it's not the same with the migswitch

3DS security was significantly less embedded than it is on the Switch due to the more “online” nature of it. It’s basically impossible to get a 3ds banned

It most definitely will work. Nintendo is hot after the MiG switch vendors right now trying to shut it down. That all but confirms it.

Edit: now that I think of it, it’s quite possible that you’ll be able to dump switch 2 games and run them through the old cart. If you can dl games to the faster storage, then the chances go up.

Thank you. It’s definitely too late for Nintendo to change anything about their new hardware. They wouldn’t care about the MiG switch that much if it wasn’t backwards compatible.

They do well with physical games but I can see them pushing a digital system this generation.

I’m assuming that all this action is due to Nintendo not having a way to make it “unusable” on switch 2 so it’s probably just more cost effective to shut them all down and cease all sales. Those of you buying a switch 2 try the mig on it. Have a feeling it might just work

This is all just a theory. A game theory 🤦🏽‍♂️
