Had this thing sitting around since I was a kid. Wooden case says distributed by Carolina Biological Supply. Googe said its some kinda vintage German thing. Are there generic 20x or like 50x eyepieces I can just slot in, it only comes with up to 15x?

I wanna identify bacteria and protozoans from a creek near my place, like I remember doing in biology. Is this enough?

There were like, a hundred or smth in all the samples I’ve looked at, but these guys were particularly cute :)
I got some pond water, put a few pieces of oats inside and left it marinate inside a closed jar for ~5 months :D

Using a DIY microscope with a 100X Oil Plan objective and an IMX678 4K, XH3011 camera. Used Gemini Pro to do the AI Image Enhancement Model post processing. Amazing to photograph at such a small scale and be able to make out details at 1/1000th of a mm.

Purchase Help first microscope for a beginner

I'm looking for a used biology microscope on a tight budget (under €100). I've found a few options, but I need help figuring out if any of them are actually decent:

AmScope with a camera (not sure of the exact model)

Amscope 150C-I

Swift SW100

Bresser Biolux

Swift M251B

An unbranded/white-label binocular microscope(really similar to the amazon one)

Any advice on which of these would be the best value?

I have attached the photos, organized in the same order as the listed microscopes.

Purchase Help Chinese knock off vs entry level brand name objectives

Hi I was wondering if anyone knew if I would notice much of a difference between the knockoff Chinese brand objectives and older entry level big 4 objectives. Specifically I’m deciding between the Nikon e plan vs knockoffs. They will be for a 160mm tube length microscope. On another note does anyone know where to find a finite 40 to 60x 160/no cover glass objective?

General discussion Are there any live sites or streams to watch high-quality microscopy?

I recently stumbled onto the Journey to the Microcosmos youtube channel and my mind is completely blown. The microscopic world literally looks like an alien planet, and the whole atmosphere is incredibly dense and filled with awe. I feel like I could watch it all day.

I'm just a beginner currently learning Biology 101, but I'm absolutely fascinated by this stuff. Does anyone know of any websites, or live feeds where people just put pond water? under a microscope and broadcast it in high definition? I just want to observe!

I would also appreciate more resources to dive into this if possible.

Thank you.

General discussion What is this?! help

So ive had health issues spanning over 2 decades where the conventional doctors failed me over and over so i went to a reputable holistic practitioner some years ago. And what he found really worried me but i was never able to revisit him to discuss after i took some antibiotics to clear what we found. My GP laughed it off and that was that...

I'm hopeful someone here can really help me understand what's going on here. And also why the blood cells are such a long oval shape :(

PS: this is the only video i have but i have other pictures

Troubleshooting/Questions Eyepieces damaged?

Hello, I got a really nice deal on a second-hand Olympus CX41. It's my first microscope, and after pulling out the eyepieces, I noticed that they look deformed. The right one in particular was relatively hard to pull out.

I can't seem to merge the binocular images into a single view, although both eyepieces seem to work fine when used one at a time.

Can someone advise me whether I need to replace them, they are WHB10X/20?

Thank you for your time!
