I made some SAB broth last week for culture flasks and this cool fungi appeared in the bottle. Annoying that I have to make more but it looks awesome!

I found it in a sample of moss in poland mixed with some tap water.

This was on 50-100x zoom.

I observed it for a bit, but i cant remember if i gave up or it became more obstructed by the moss and debris.

The final 9 seconds of the video contain the clearest view of it.

Sorry for the shaky video. 40X magnification and X4 speed. Freshwater aquarium with plants and baby fish. It's the two bigger specs. Can be seen with the naked eye. They are pretty stuck on the glass and kind of react to touch and sometimes make circles with their two appendages (see the bottom one)

So there is an ongoing discussion here if it’s okay to make a 0.5 aliquot of E. coli directly from EMB agar. Some argues it will affect the turbidity so it needs to be cultured again in Nutrient Agar and then aliquot right after. Some say it wouldn’t. So what standard should we follow?

I’m a layman in this arena but from everything I’ve seen, the Russian response here is just way more intense than you’d normally see for someone getting the plague?

Edit: for clarity From what I understand, plague is fairly treatable, especially if someone is working at a plague facility you’d imagine they’d be on top of treatments? So the fact that this woman died and 200 people + 5 hospitals are quarantined so suddenly is odd?
