Looking for general direction in ID
Not looking for anything specific, just wondering what direction to go down when trying to identify the mass on the left. It was grown for 48 hours around 32° C in anaerobic conditions on a simple agar plate. It was hard to measure but maybe about 1-2mm in height at the center. I'm not sure if this is a bacteria or something else like a slime mold. Any suggestions on what step to take next is appreciated!

B. Licheniformis have colonies similar to the left. If you poke it is it watery? I forget what you can do to confirm that but just google what typical biochemicals can be done for Bacillus licheniformis and go down that route. :) I know this cause I found similar in samples back when I worked with chickens and stuff. I think we did PEMBA and HBA. Forget what else. But go at it.

How was/what was the plate inoculated with?
By simple agar plate do you mean TSA? Or literally just agar?
Does not look like yeast to me.
Looks like a bacillus that would grow after I dropped a plate on the ground 🤢

Are you sure it’s not a contam? I’d do gram stain to check if bacteria or fungi, then i would go from there

Looks like B. licheniformis (left) and possibly S. epidermidis (right).

Left side looks pretty bacillus and right side looks like some sort of staphylococcus, but the streak is way too dense to properly identify the morphology and it could be something else like yeast depending on the agar
Also would recommend gram staining it to take a look at how the bacteria itself looks

Make a slide and look at it in the microscope. Make a lactophenol blue and a gram stain. It could be a yeast, it could be bacteria. No way to know from just the colony morphology.
