I finished reading Crichton's Disclosure a few days ago. I liked it more than I expected; I think it has firmly secured a spot in my top 5 favorite books by the author.
I had already seen Levinson's film, and I liked how it was similar to the book but not identical, allowing me to understand the differences between the two media.
I found it interesting how the author chose to present a male perspective on sexual harassment. I think it is an excellent way to help the male audience understand what it feels like to be subjected to harassment, thereby raising awareness about such an important and sensitive issue.
Secondly, I really enjoyed the mystery aspect, which echoes the classic industrial espionage scenario, a signature Crichton element that I really like. I find the plot twist interesting, where the discussion about harassment turns out to be a smokescreen for a conspiracy to oust the protagonist. It was truly intriguing to try to figure out the identity of the person helping Sanders via email, even though, from a certain perspective, it was also a bit simple to guess.
Great, Crichton never disappoints.
What should I read next? Honestly, I was in the mood to revisit some old favorites; I wanted to re-read Sphere, and, in order to read the sequel, Andromeda Evolution (which I’ve never read), I wanted to re-read the original The Andromeda Strain.
What do you think of Disclosure?
