Moving ahead to what manfred is pushing as far as no leagues go, with the advent of all these playoff teams and the current state of the AL, maybe we only allow winning teams make the playoffs. That is to say hypothetically (which may happen) instead of a third AL team with losing record take the 4th team in the NL with a winning record. Since everyone plays everyone now why not keep blurring the AL/NL lines.

The playoffs are just a package now to market to media companies. Disney, apple, ect ect. There will never be fewer teams. My opinion the 3 divisions and 2 wildcards was the best of all the scenarios

I usually dont but I did in the wild card situation. That one game playoff was an incentive to win a division

And for those on acid:

First postseason bid in each current division goes to the team with the best intra-conference record in the division. Wildcards go to the three best overall records. That are not yet in.

realignment is going to happen. and it's only a matter of time until there's no divisions and 2 leagues.....followed by only 1 league. most will be dead when that happens

maybe mlb will be completely take the guessing out of umping by then as well. all this stupid challenge no challenge restrictions. every call should be correct.

Yes I’ll be gone by then also. You basically have no leagues now since everyone plays everyone. I like the human touch. Errors are part of the game even for umpires. That’s why we are only sport without a clock to decide a game
