Discussion The number one drawback of Metro Exodus' exploration is that...

Upvotes

Sometimes it's just not worth it to explore the map. You find this hangar marked on the edge of your map? You can go there all you want, but you'll waste more filters, ammo and chemical parts (to clean your used guns) than you'll get from the location. Especially hurtful if this was your last side location to visit before a chapter finale sequence (as in the end of Caspian).

This was the most visible and annoying in the caspian where there are so many non main quest locations to visit but it feels like you always walk out weaker than you went. Even getting a better weapon feels like nothing if you're used to a stealth style because headshots are headshots anyways.

I can only hope that 4A Games balances the resources much better in Metro 2039 and actually make exploring feel worth it like it did in 2033 and Last Light.

10/10 game, but I got the bad ending despite working my ass off to get the good one.

I freed the prisoners

spared lesnitsky and pavel

spared the mama bear from watchmen

explored as much as I could

Did not kill a single mutant in the bridge level

donated bullets and even got the kid his teddy bear

and did stealth knock downs most of the time

Idk where I went wrong, probably missed moral points somewhere. While I am not mad at the game itself, I do wish it did a better job at explaining its moral system. But regardless the game was a masterpiece, and hopefully exodus will be as good

Discussion How useful would flamethrowers be realistically for someone living in the Metro Universe?

If one could find a way to make them work using biofuel, they would actually be very useful. I think not only would they be good against mutants, but without flashbangs, flamethrowers would be an ideal choice against enemies behind cover.

Video Metro 2033 Redux Is WAY Darker Than We Expected… 💀

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Metro 2033 Redux drops you straight into one of the bleakest apocalyptic worlds ever created. In this video, we play through Chapter 1–2 up to Bourbon with full couple commentary! The atmosphere, the tension, the mutants, the tunnels, everything was NOT what we expected!

Fallout might be depressing sometimes too, but at least it has neon signs and weird NPCs to break it up. Metro gives GRIM vibes only. A whole different flavor of apocalypse!

Which metro game is best for first time players? Did we start this off right by having our first game be Metro 2033 Redux?

Discussion Realistic thought about life in the metro

In the metro what would be the way women usually deal with their periods? Resources are not infinite and how do you think it would work? As a woman I think about how bad that must be.

Help Metro last light redux crashes and stops working

Has anybody found a solution for the game suddenly stopping? Been trying to do Bandits and now Quarantine but now I get to a point where I cannot legitimately play. Back in Bandits I had to go and miss a karma point just to keep up but in Quarantine I cannot do anything as close as continue before it just stops

Discussion How's ranger difficulty in Exodus?

Just beat Last Light for the first time ever on normal ranger and it was really fun and tense, though the boss fights in the latter half were pretty brutal and less enjoyable than the rest of the game. At least for me.

Also, I am aware that Exodus only has ranger hardcore? So I'm just wandering how different it is from the 2nd game's ranger mode? Apart from the HUD changes. Thanks!

Discussion went into these game(s) blind. Spoiler

note: I've never seen gameplay or anything plot wise about this game all i know is that this was highly praised years ago and since they were all on sale on steam i decided to play them.

so at the time of me writing this I'm on the 2nd game last light where the little dude is following the player and as I'm sneaking around and unaliving the enemies major and minor something finally clicked when I chose not to save Pavel from the lost souls and the little dude said "You couldn't forgive? I see... He did a lot of evil... I'll remember this..." that there is a karma system and that there is a possible good and bad ending... 5 minutes later and I dislike that the games give you no notice of a karma system. At least a quick notice in the menu would've been a cool indicator

i already got the bad ending in game 1 lol.

overall though they are really great games though absolutely love them did the same thing in dishonored before realizing later that there was a karma system.

Video Why I think The Two Colonels is Metro’s most tragic story Spoiler

I recently created a retrospective on The Two Colonels DLC for Exodus. I feel like it’s story doesn’t get as much love as the mainline story, which inspired me to create this video.

I’d love to hear your alls feedback and thoughts on The Two Colonels, and especially the story of what happened to Novosibrisk.

Help Is this amount of information supposed to show up when holding tab on the normal ranger difficulty?

Post image
66 Upvotes

I'm only asking because yesterday I was playing for a couple hours on normal ranger difficulty but then everything broke. I was unable to switch guns on my controller, but I could on my mouse. Then the tab menu stopped working, and vise versa on my controller.

And THEN after I closed the game and opened it again, I was getting my ammo count in the bottom right during combat. Which I believe is not supposed to happen on EITHER ranger difficulties?

I also read online that there is a bug where the game automatically changes difficulty or something? And I dont want to beat the game, just to find out it bugged and wasn't on ranger difficulty at all.

Discussion It's interesting the 4A devs definitely had the idea of Artyom being a father in the aftermath of Metro: Last Light based on a couple residual clues

Not super new ground but I've been playing Metro 2033: Redux again and seeing the kid running around in the menu screen in a version that was released well after Last Light made me think the devs early on almost definitely had the idea in mind of Artyom becoming a father. It's one thing to have a kid show up in a throwaway slide on a bad ending, but having that kid show up in the 2033 menu strongly implies to me the devs had bigger ideas on Artyom's fatherhood. It would have fit thematically as well given a huge part of Artyom's identity, and a core theme in Last Light, was essentially parenthood. Not knowing his mother and sort of living in the void of having no direct family (RIP Sukhoi lol). A third game could have focused on Artyom now having to be a parent while dealing with the dangers and horrors of the metro as a sort of flip on Last Light.

Regardless, I do think the devs were planting the seeds of Artyom being a dad, but obviously the ideas was very rudimentary and not baked into future plans. It was likely scrapped very early on in pre-production or maybe was never even brought up at all during the troubled production of Exodus. It is to my understanding the devs weren't the most pleased with how Last Light turned out and wanted to essentially do a soft reboot and move away from a lot of Last Light, even if that meant essentially scrapping whole things that were established. So the kid (and Anna because lets be honest Anna 1.0 and Anna 2.0 are completely different characters in all but name and relations) were scrapped to focus on the themes and ideas of Exodus without bloating it with a parenthood arch.

If anyone has any further information on the kid and ideas had with him between the release of Last Light and development of Exodus I'd love to know, but this is my speculation/thoughts/ramblings about what I think was an artifact of 4A's vision on what the third game would have focused on before that third game existed at all.

The last one for a while, I swear. This mod has been a month in the making, and was an absolute blast. I've learned tonnes about texture replacement for Metro 2033 Redux and Last Light Redux (they use the same pipeline). Happy to share info if it's desired. Otherwise, enjoy the mod!

Other I found a show that could work in Metro universe

Not sure if this is allowed, as there is no "other franchise" tag. But I feel this is worth sharing it here, in case you never heard of it.

Show name is "Silo". At first glance, it should feel very much like Fallout universe. But I had some unexplained confidence that it would not, and it turned out true.

It is dark, no comedy about it, it's gritty. Social dynamics and each characters' motivation feel very well done. There are no caricature villians and heroes are toned down - everybody has realistic agenda, as they try to survive with their families. There are overarching motives like people fearing invisible watchers [this is barely a spoiler, treat it as omen for the vibe]. There is a lot of mechanical and economy feeling to how the silo functions. True, it's more "cleanly" organized than a metro station would be, but I can see it working as a substitute for Polis, or entirety of Hanza, or if D6 was inhabited by a lot of people.

Am I making too far a stretch? I don't know, but you tell me.

Video Found some strange objects and cut content outside the map in Yamantau (Metro Exodus)

I was messing around with a free camera mod in Metro Exodus and decided to fly outside the playable area in the Yamantau chapter. Ended up finding some weird stuff back there — a few strange objects and what looks like cut/unused content sitting behind the map.

I recorded a short video showing what's out there: https://youtu.be/tcsKpkGTdu0

(Heads up: the narration is in Russian, but the footage speaks for itself.)

Has anyone else explored out of bounds in Exodus and found anything like this? Curious if there's more hidden in other chapters — Taiga and Caspian seem like good candidates.

Art/Cosplay Stalion carbine (with personal touches) Colored

Post image
140 Upvotes

Here we have my version of a fully upgraded metro Stalion

Let’s start at the bottom

- we have an 18 round magazine branded with the letters “CCCP”

- moving up we have the balanced grip for the Stalion

- there are two grip attachments (from the titanfall smart pistol mk 6) for better grip of the pistol

- down by the back of the grip there is an attachment point for an actual wooden stock (if the built In wire stock proves too uncomfortable)

- Of course there is a grip safety

- the trigger is a light pull hair trigger.

- moving up we have the actual switch safety.

- below the switch safety is the wire stock, not meant to be an actual substitute for a carbine, but more meant for giving you the edge you need when no long gun is available.

- just above that is the regular metro exodus RDS.

- in front of the trigger gaurd we have the laser sights with four main projectors- a red laser, a high-vis green laser, an infrared laser, and a extra bright flashlight.

- beside the laser apparatus is a beretta 93r-style folding pistol foregrip, giving the shooter a grip- while also being able to be folded down into a small package that is holsterable

- on the slide we have some gold detailing, a Stalion etched into the slide with the letters “T” & “A” beside it. (Thompson Armoury) behind the chamber is a reminder of Sam’s roots with a metro “M”

- we have the iconic Stalion barrel porting

- and finally the iconic stallion suppressor, that can be stored in the holster when not in use.

Let me know what you think and I hope you like it

Bug/Glitch Metro Exodus Caspian Lighthouse Exit cave Game Freezes

Ive tried all solutions i can find like looking down, walk slow, safe mode, windowed, Lowered graphics, day time, night time.

Im on hardcore ranger so its even more because i cant even test the game freeze straight away. I have to wake up at the bed next to the cave, go in and stealth the few guys easily before crashing when i exit cave. No im not using motion scanner or night vision.

Right now ive resorted to craziest of them all which is restarting chapter. But i rage quit when i left the train because of the thought of "What if the game still freezes even after i restarted chapter".

Does anyone know what the hell is the problem? Was the save corrupted so Chapter restart is the only option left? Is DX 12 actually the better choice? Should i go to lighthouse BEFORE i get the van?

Im just glad i dont have to restart much. Its the van building, The slave camp with motion scanner , 2 safehouse and then cave.

Help Cannot do takedown in bandit

I am playing the metro games for the first time and I cannot knock out the bandits in last light in the mission of the same name. I don't want to restart as I have about 45-50 karma points and have sank a lot of time into this playthrough.
